Coast to coast election news

Out in Arnold Land, Proposition 73 has created a stir, re: abortion.

It’s not just a Texas-like parental notification law being voted on, this particular change to the state constitution “would legalize when life begins. The proposition does not use medical terms such as embryo or fetus, but defines abortion as the death of a ‘child conceived but not yet born.’ This would have legal ramifications, which would manifest quickly.”

Any Californians out there wanna fill us in on the latest? How about RT from Houston? I’ll bet you have good info on the Texas version of this law.

New Yorkers...here’s your write-in mayoral candidate:
Christopher X. Brodeur (CXB): http://mayorbrodeur.org

CXB sez: “Government will always break the law, but it’s the media who drives the getaway car.”

Astorians...here’s your next council member:
Jerry Kann: http://www.kannforcouncil.net

Ralph Nader sez: “Imagine Jerry Kann on the New York City Council speaking, working, and acting on behalf of New Yorkers. The corporations and their lobbyists wouldn’t even bother walking into his office because on his door is the sign, ‘Here the People Rule.’ With more and more of New York City off limits to affordable housing, small business and neighborhood development, Jerry Kann on the New York City Council is needed more than ever.”

Vote early...vote often…

William S. Burroughs sez:

We have a new type of rule now. Not one-man rule, or rule of aristocracy or plutocracy, but of small groups elevated to positions of absolute power by random pressures and subject to political and economic factors that leave little room for decision.

They are representatives of abstract forces who have reached power through surrender of self. The iron-willed dictator is a thing of past. There will be no more Stalins, no more Hitlers.

The rulers of this most insecure of all worlds are rulers by accident. Inept, frightened pilots at the controls of a vast machine they cannot understand, calling in experts to tell them which buttons to push.
