5 ways to look at a corporation

  1. Hi Mickey...I voted.

Yep, corporations don’t only kill the ecosystem but also the people. The insurance corporations are killing 45,000+ per year and they do it legally. They own the government. They write the laws. Someone needs to write a book titled “How to Kill a Corporation”...or make a bumper sticker that says, “Kill an Insurance Corporation and save lives”......

  2. Howdy All (who will appear).
I went to see the movie The Corporation when it was released in the UK. I had to find a cinema actually showing it, and found one in London that I could get to. When I got there I realised a lot of the people there were in suits, like it was some sort of swanky wine bar. I sat there in my jeans feeling slightly out of place (not that I cared).

The extras on the DVD include Michael Moore saying more “radical” (as in obvious) things about greed and profit. He says one of their flaws is that if they can make a buck selling you their own noose...they will.

  6. Coincidentally, I watched Capitalism: A love story about three hours ago.

For the first time in years a movie scene actually made my jaw drop, I was opened mouthed and speechless.

It was when they are evicting that guy and his wife from their family home they had inherited. he was on disability pay and the (interest on the) loan on his house increased over his income without him changing his situation at all.

But the real moment was when the bank turfing him out decided to undercut the clean up crew and offer the guy 1000 bucks to clean up his own home they’d just kicked him out of.

    Blimey.

  7. Working doing quotes for electrical stuff (office based construction industry) I’ve had some dodgy stuff to do quotes for in the past. The only one I refused to do was Bacardi’s office in London, do a search for Bacardi’s...how shall I put it...their possibly obvious links to terrorism (against my beloved Cuba), and you’ll see why I don’t like them. Bacardi sucks.
I still get laughed at for refusing to price it, about 4 years later.
I did once price the Embassy of a modern-day nation that seems to like apartheid and bulldozers...but that was because I wanted to visit the building...they refused...I gave them an expensive quote and they went elsewhere.
Responsibility needs to be an everyday thought.

  8. Thanks for another enlightening post, Mickey!  What I know about corporations is that they are apparently treated like individual human beings, following a court case in the US.  I’m sure you have much more to say, so I’ll click on the links now.

Hello from a sunny Daylesford (80F today), Rosemarie, Rick and Andy.  Take care, all of you - and beware of corporations ..
