  3. Hi richie…

    Hi Mickey...I voted.

Anyone out there optimistic about 2010 ??? Come on - make me smile. I dare you!

  4. Hi RMJ. Okay...well...let’s see...um...at least there’s no presidential election this year?

  5. How about a vegan president?  I was tempted to vote for Kucinich for that very reason.  And his wife is really into the raw food scene.

  6. I’m tempted to do a Planet Green post about Kucinich being a vegan but he’s sold out to Kerry and Obama for two straight elections so I have to find a way to make it palatable for myself.

  7. Liked that pun, Mickey, good stuff. Palatable.

Yeah, one can only imagine what would happen if we all had green leaders. What if McKinney had gotten in even?

But then you look at the history of it all. Especially in the UK or USA. Look at all the fuss created by moderate centre right reformers. Also, do we really think big business and the military are going to roll over.

Nah, it’s only going to happen bottom up, not top down. People have create solidarity to the point of being a mass movement, then do opt out of stupid stuff and organise for themselves. Take those idiots out of the loop.

The biggest enemy of solidarity in the modern world of media is propaganda, setting us against each other.

That’s why the real villains are the deniers of environmental disaster, the sneering intellectuals who dismiss animals and non-meat eating of any kind and the politicians who pit struggling groups against each other with racist and nationalistic polemics.

Of course, most people would think me nuts when I say I’m just talking about most dailies in the ‘free-press’ in a ‘democracy’.

That’s why we have to believe in the power of radical writing and speaking/organising and never give it up. After all, it’s what leads to most action, historically.

So for 2010, lets hope a spark turns into a fire.

  8. Thanks, Andy.

I’ll probably give Kucinich a plug but do so in a way that doesn’t ignore his party status.

  9. I hope you, Mickey (and Michele), Ricky, Rosemarie, Charles and Andy all had a merry Christmas - in spite of all that is going.

Rosemarie #3:  ‘Anyone out there optimistic about 2010 ??? Come on - make me smile. I dare you!’ My sentiments exactly.

And Hypocrisy, thy name is Vatican! If the Pope is so worried about the footprint 6.6 billion people leave on the planet, why does he still condemn any contraception, and, worse, interferes in many countries where politicians try their best to implement family planning programs?  Worse still, he is quite successful in his efforts in all too many parts of the world.

    End of rant.

Now I’m going to read Mickey’s articles and vote.

Have a good day/night, all of you!

  10. Oops - I meant to type ‘richie’, not ‘Ricky’.  Sorry, richie!

  11. Thanks, Helga. Your rant is dead on. 6.6 billion “miracles” are way more than enough.

  12. i think the pope deserves credit. After all, all cultures and people appreciate a good comedy fall when performed properly.

    the boy did well.

  13. That’s funny, Michael. You referring to the Pope as “the boy” made me laugh out loud.

  14. Holy hypocrisy, Batman! That’s the pope with his head up his hat! I half-expected to see some olympic scorecards go up after that tackle in Rome. Or at least a small wave.

Anyone get a League of Nations vibe from the Hopenhagen meet? Only this time, the fallout won’t be some minor skirmish like WWII.

Happy 2010? There’s no room in the budget for happiness.
