Abbie Hoffman at 70, Arnold & Tookie pose, cheering meds, & Mickey Z. heads north of the border
Thanks Mickey, I´m having a lovely day all refreshed from the mountain air. How are the November novels going, all?
Posted by Owen from Barcelona on 11/28 at 10:21 AMI have to say that I am not going to make it...sorry Mudge/Mick/Owen/Etc. Too much going on for me personally right now. But it will be finished within the next couple of months. It looks like you guys are going to make it, so 3 out of 4 ain’t bad.
Posted by JOS from Puerto Rico on 11/28 at 11:36 AMGood day to everyone.
Mickey, your shameless self-promotion has paid off in a small way, 50AR is (finally) on its way into my happy little paws. So, are we all going to be able to read these novels what you “wrote”? Who’s going to be brave…
Posted by Mew from london, in-ger-lund on 11/28 at 12:08 PMGood Monday, all. Incredibly mild day here for late November.
Glad to hear you had a good weekend, Owen.
JOS, you’ll finish the novel when you have time. As for me, I jammed in tons of stuff just to experience the joy of “winning” the Nano thing (I’m almost there). I wouldn’t let anyone read my alleged novel until I find time to edit, edit, edit.
Mew: I did it, huh? I wore you down with my relentless self-promotion. Now, I can rest. (Thanks for buying it...I mean it.)
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/28 at 12:46 PMI received my 50AR today!
I suppose this is required reading for today, Hersch on the air war in iraq:
Good reporting but the basic fact that I get from it is that as ground troops are drawn down, the air war will be racheted up...along with an increase in the number of Iraqi civilians killed. The call for peace should still be “Withdraw NOW,” but we should make sure we add “Stop the Bombing Now.”
And some sad news on Sesame Street:
Posted by JOS from Puerto Rico on 11/28 at 01:48 PMMZ - I like the Hoffman reference today - read the short disinfo essay too. FYI, “Dear Abbie” is the title of one of the songs I wrote (actually back in ‘99) which will appear on the upcoming album. It’s a short funky-punk rock song that’s sort of silly (but to the point). Here’s the lyrics:
You threw it down
You watched ‘em take it
Tossed it down
Watched ‘em grab it
Threw it down
You watched ‘em take it
Tossed it down
Watched ‘em / grab it /
You know they wanted more -
The filthy whores -
They were keepin’ score -
Out on the floor
Before and after
You threw it down* it’s sort of a sing-along, and imagine what could be done for a music video… *
In other news, the climate conference in Montreal (the largest ever) starts today. Guess which country is not taking part?
Posted by RT from The Buyou City on 11/28 at 02:40 PMGlobal Warming? You mean I can get a tan all year round? Awesome.

Abbie HoffmanPosted by RMJ from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts on 11/28 at 03:05 PMHi, Mickey and all of you MZ’ers! I heart NYC - only the other day Helga and her husband were dreaming of visiting again but it is highly unlikely they will.
We’ve had another very stormy night in Daylesford, Australia - climate change anyone? Today, Tuesday 29 November, will be mainly fine, though and quite warm - 80 F or so. It is 7:11am even while I type this.
Have a good day!Posted by Helga Fremlin from Daylesford, Australia on 11/28 at 03:11 PMHappy Birthday Owen and Nancy!

- Abbie HoffmanPosted by The poster formerly known as "Old Glen". from on 11/28 at 04:18 PMMZ - Album is due for release early next year. Currently, we have 7 tracks mixed down and ready for mastering, and another 6 or so that are close to being completed for mix-down (which then need to be mastered as well, of course).
When my new pc arrives (hopefully this week) I’ll again be in a position to make mp3s of the most current mixes. However, the consensus here is that the music should be “behind closed doors” until everything is completed, as we’re still not happy (nor will we be happy) until everything has been mastered for final production. Remember, this is entirely a studio project, and so far, only a select few have heard the material. I will keep you posted on progress though.
Posted by RT from The Buyou City on 11/28 at 04:39 PMJOS, that Hersh piece is required reading but also very SCARY! Thanks anyway ..
Posted by Helga Fremlin from Daylesford, Australia on 11/28 at 05:43 PMHi Helga. Did you notice your dog Kelly on the site yesterday?
Okay, RT, just let me know when I can buy your CD.
Glen, you have a knack for finding excellent quotes. I love this one: ”I believe in compulsory cannibalism. If people were forced to eat what they killed, there would be no more wars.”
Captcha says: “human.”
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/28 at 06:08 PMMZ - BUY the cd?
I’ll send you a promotional copy. But this means that you’ll have to play it for all of your wealthy kickboxing customers who shop at Target (read tar-jay)... so they can buy it.

- Abbie HoffmanPosted by RT from The Buyou City on 11/28 at 06:53 PMNo, no, no, RT. If you have to buy 50AR, I will buy your CD. I understand the indie life all too well. Every sale counts. Even at tar-jay…
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/28 at 07:00 PMMy radio interview went well tonight. It truly is my favorite show.
