Another year has passed...
I’m in Texas now. Where is everyone?
Posted by Mickey Z. from Deep in the Heart on 01/08 at 04:38 PMSomething of mine on PG:
http://tinyurl.com/yzyshbqI’ll try to add it to the main post over the weekend.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Deep in the Heart on 01/08 at 04:41 PMMe again. Please vote for that post, okay?
Posted by Mickey Z. from Deep in the Heart on 01/08 at 04:47 PMI’m here.
here is roughly defined as about 250,000 miles (380,000km) away from the moon, 90,000 miles away from the sun (about 150,000 km) sitting on a ball of mostly iron, carbon and water orbiting a nuclear fireball at roughly 40,000 miles an hour.
Posted by michael from not scotland on 01/08 at 06:17 PMVoted. Glad to see Utah remembered. He always gave us hoboes/bums enjoyers of life while fighting for a better world, a good name. Watch oughta watch your aorta deep in the heart.
Posted by Bob T. from Archer, FL on 01/08 at 06:35 PMCongrats on another book out MZ.
Nice collection of Utah Phillips quotes. I like what he and you say about opportunity. I think a convenient myth for power is that nothing can be done, that the machine is too big for any action to have an effect. I admit to occasional guilt in that regard, but I know that the more I act, the more sure I am of its value.
Posted by Keir from here and there on 01/08 at 08:35 PMTwo years. Here comes a small talk cliche ... time really flies. It does.
Have a good trip Mickey. Will vote for the article, I guess it’s important if you’re under review now.
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 01/08 at 09:13 PMDamn, Michael, it must be hot there - or is it the cold driving you to hallucinate
My brother said it was -18C at his new flat in Manchester…
@ Andy - good luck with the rabble rousing!
Posted by subgenius from hell-A on 01/09 at 12:35 AMI managed to cut off the good wishes to MickeyZ & family in my attempt at a post, so here it is…
Posted by subgenius from hell-A on 01/09 at 12:36 AMThanks, all. Another link for voting:
Posted by Mickey Z. from Deep in the Heart on 01/09 at 11:18 AMJust voted for your latest MZ. I flipped through Michael Pollan’s newest book the other day, and saw him on The Daily Show. I like his bottom line on eating: “Eat food.” It’s a damn good start. All the labels placed on the foods conscious eaters eat--"natural", “organic”, “healthy"--they all beg the question: what’s all the other stuff? It’s very good that these issues are actually making it into day-to-day conversations.
Posted by Keir from here and there on 01/09 at 12:38 PMHas it really been two years? Wow. Once again, you have my heartfelt sympathy.
Mickey, is there a way to search through your Planet Green postings? I clicked on your profile and it brings up recent articles to the side, but not any of your past work.
Posted by Charles from Jersey City on 01/09 at 01:46 PMMickey...I voted. Nice to see the Utah stuff. Your family must be very happy to have you there with them. How’s the weather down there? Better than here, I am sure.
Hi Keir, Charles, subgenius, Andy, Bob, Michael, and all… Yesterday I actually saw an icicle that was about 40 feet long. It went down the entire side of a building. Glad the icicles on my house are not that big. A year ago, one came off my roof and broke the glass in the electric meter. That is very thick glass.

Charles: The PG search function is poor. It might be best to try Google: type in my name and “Planet Green.” When I’m back in NYC, I can send you another link that might work so remind me, okay?
It’s awfully cold here for Texas. The coldest I’ve ever experienced since I first visited this area 10 years ago.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Deep in the Heart on 01/09 at 03:34 PMThat’s what I ended up doing on PG. I googled ‘mickey’ and specified PG’s domain.
like this exactly:
mickey site:planetgreen.discovery.com
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 01/09 at 06:52 PMIf you run that search, by the way, the most ‘relevant’ or active article is “A tree falls in queens ...”
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 01/09 at 06:54 PMI’ve been lurking but, yes, my vote was counted. Sorta like the owners of this inter/national train wreck! (that’s a tad clever, but not really funny.)
Along these lines, here’s a favorite line from System Of A Down’s “Toxicity”:
New, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder, disorder?Any questions? (captcha sez ‘taking’)
Got your new pamphlet today, MZ, and devoured it. It’s like Mao’s Little Red Book, except it makes sense and has a lot more style. Can’t wait to read “Dear Vito.”
Posted by Zen Prole from Pac NW on 01/10 at 03:26 AMMICK N MICHELE ~~~ BLESSINGS and peace b with you ... My dad would have been 93 on 01/04/10.... Big Stanley A passed on 01/12/08.... age 91 ... mom passed on 09/01/07 .... time never stands still...we simply fall out of lockstep and at some point on the continuum...our heart ceases to keep a rhythmical beat ... and stops....leaving others to mend broken hearts. ~~~

Posted by richie from st james city, FL on 01/10 at 03:58 PMHello again.
I have about 6-7 new Planet Green posts up so I’ll just wait till I’m home tomorrow night to create a post here that provides all those links.
So...who’s buying my new novel?
Posted by Mickey Z. from Depp in the Heart on 01/10 at 05:34 PMBlimey. Just got back from the PETA shoot.
It was large format so each photo - from trying the poses, to marking it, to testing the lights and shots with a digital cam, then finally moving to the large format cam and focusing it properly - needed several minutes. During which time you can’t move.
Then we had our writer and the band’s founder member/organiser in the rest area trying to get interviews done as we went and on people’s breaks.
A lot of fun but a lot of work.
Anyway, some cheery/positive news that I hope is not out of place on this post that marks a sad anniversary.
I look at it like this - we owe it to the good people who have left us to try and do good, for the good people that will follow us.
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 01/11 at 09:31 AMWow, another book? Dude, you must be writing nonstop these days.
Posted by Charles from Jersey City on 01/11 at 01:13 PMHello Expendables. I’m back in NYC and a new post is up. See you there.
