Are you a Confused Moth?
Dude, I got halfway through the first sentence of your metaphor, and I thought to write the Taoist saying made famous by Bruce Lee, only to discover that you already mentioned it.
I’ll accept that as proof: great minds think alike.
MickeyZ.net has been on my links page since I became fortunate enough to join the Expendables, right next Chomsky and Blum site links! I love these guys.
Allow me to expand the metaphor. There’s the confused moths, yes, who flutter about aimlessly. But then there are those who do see the light, and they fly directly towards it, only to discover in a violent moment that it was just a car headlight.
I sure do envy those confused moths!

Hello Expendables from chilly Astoria.
Jeremy, as soon as I get some help adding more space to my links list, your site will be on it. Love your moth addendum and as for my other article that you link to, it will be posted here on Monday so everyone can just pretend they haven’t seen it yet.
P.S. Is it too late to become a Mets fan?
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 10/13 at 07:18 AMI first saw that Taoist/Bruce Lee quote in a book by Derrick Jensen. I thought the book was so wonderful I sent a copy to everyone in my family. They thought I went crazy. Jensen would appreciate the disconnect that the people (apparently) closest to me would rather see me as nuts than the culture I was pointing at. So.
An important footnote to the confused moth article: extinction is natural, and will occur without human interference, just not at the enormous levels we’re seeing in the millenia since humans decided they were god’s gift to the planet.
Elephants are acting a bit like confused moths these days, knowing their days are numbered and lashing out at the wrong targets. Hey: who here wouldn’t relish seeing some tough guy trophy hunters getting gored by angry elephants? As captcha says: PARTY!
Posted by Keir from The Hague (Jackowski election hdqts) on 10/13 at 07:58 AMPS: regarding the blogroll, some of the links have been dead for awhile . . .
Posted by Keir from The Hague (Jackowski election hdqts) on 10/13 at 08:00 AMThanks, Keir. I was able to delete a few dead links but I need webmaster Nancy to do the others. Still, it did give me room to add Jeremy’s site...so that’s a good start.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 10/13 at 08:14 AMThat’s awesome, MZ! Thanks so much. I’m honored.
Re: Bruce Lee, I became a fan in high school. I got his book, “The Tao of Jeet Kune Do” and read it, and was fascinated not only by the martial arts, but by the philosophy, which was as much a part of the art as the physical aspects.
As with Sun Tzu’s “Art of War”, it is applicable to many aspects of life, and not physical conflict only.
Posted by Jeremy from Taipei on 10/13 at 08:41 AMDon Juan (Carlos Castanedas books) pointed out that moths might gather around artificial light, but are never foolish enough to burn themselves getting too near to a fire.
Good morning everyone, Mickey, do you think you might consider making a links list of Expendables, and another of all your reciprocal links?
I know I’ve wondered if Expendable “X” has a blog, and/or wondered if the blog I was visiting belonged to Expendable “X”. Just a thought.Frrr....It’s chilly here today! Fortunately no need to turn on the heating just yet, but it may not be long now.
Posted by Amelopsis from Canada on 10/13 at 08:51 AMok, I meant Brrr....
Posted by Amelopsis from Canada on 10/13 at 08:51 AMNice idea, Empress. I will ask Nancy about it.
Jeremy: Yes, Tao of Jeet Kune Do has been on my shelf for decades. Speaking of martial endeavors, I’m heading into the city now for a kickboxing client. I’ll see everyone later.

Mudge the MothPosted by Mudge from Austin, Texas on 10/13 at 09:38 AMOh, yeah, I appreciate the link explaining Friday the 13th, too. I was aware of the explanation behind this “unlucky” day, but most people are not. I find it fascinating. While I disagree with many (or most) of the authors’ conclusions, “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” is a fascinating read. I have “The Temple and the Lodge” by one of the same authors, but haven’t read it yet.
It’s all so “illuminating”, if you know what I mean.

Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 10/13 at 03:51 PMSlow day here and this is completely OT, but this protest I’m telling you about is different - it’s in support of Native Land Reclamation at a site in Southern Ontario. Youngfox has a good post with added information here: http://tinyurl.com/y74y8b
and the following excerpt is from the Turtle Island News today: http://tinyurl.com/tvg4g
If there are any lurkers here from Southern Ontario who might be able to make it down there to support these fine people and their cause...we’ll see you there on Sunday.
ALERT:
Reclamation site is calling on all supporters to stand in solidarity with them on October 15th when a Toronto area couple organize a march on the site. Hazel Hill said all Ontarians who believe in a peaceful resolution through negotiations are being asked to support the Six Nations Reclamation by being on site October 15th to support peace!

Posted by Amelopsis from Canada on 10/13 at 05:51 PMIt is still Friday 13th in Astoria, but Saturday 14th is already more than 10 hours old in eastern Australia. And it is rather chilly here: a mere 68F after more than 86F yesterday.

business reputation managementPosted by business reputation management from on 07/02 at 03:22 AMMentoring is a good way to help you because it demands accountability on your part, however it can be costly.
You already have a two year plan, but it has to be specific, like how much will you be earning in two years. The most important question is Why do you want to earn that much, what is the reason. The more compelling the reason, the more likely it is that you are going to make it happen because from a “Want” it becomes a “Must”.Once it becomes a must, you have to focus your mind on achieving it.baltimore web designers

If you’d like it pre-made in a certain color, or with specific pieces and parts, then of course you would have to pre-order it. Call around to your local dealerships to see what they have and what they can do for you. If you give them a time that you’re looking to purchase buy, they’ll help you. Go to a dealer that you trust to get the best service. If not, order one from out-of-state. Sure, it’ll be more. But they are beautiful cars.truck wheels
