Are you thankful for Saint Barack?
Hello Expendables. I know it will likely be slow here today but I wanted to share the latest from Tim un-Wise:
http://www.zmag.org/znet/viewArticle/19756
It actually provoked me to leave a comment both here and on Z Net.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/27 at 11:37 AMWTF? Dept: Tim Wise has channelled the corporate news, jamming together layers of misconception and nonsense. I don’t know what he’s supposed to be saying, other than he’s upset that people don’t see things like he does. Congratulations, Tim. Rebutting the few lucid passages is easy. 1) the libs who got off on JFK didn’t spontaneously go radical later on. 2) we are in a time of appalling injustice and abuse of power, and of collapse/self-destruction as well 3) silence and wishful thinking never solved a problem. Tim comes off like a Wehrmacht backbencher in late 1944 - if everyone would stop with the mega-neghead attitude, Germany could finally prevail. He does achieve some laughs, but maybe not in the way he’d like. That Tim wrote such a thing is his business, but why Zmag would post it is another matter...one that no longer surprises me.
Making listenable, informative folk could get Annie Humphrey in trouble.
How about the in-depth reporting on the hits in Mumbai? Would love to see the 100,000+ suicides by Indian farmers be accounted for.
Posted by Zen Prole from Urth on 11/27 at 12:12 PMWhat if you went to a doctor who promised you a cure for AIDS, but that cure has a history of giving patients brain cancer? By Tim’s logic, you should be happy and optimistic that you don’t have AIDS anymore.
Nice analysis of March Of The Wooden Soldiers. That was a holiday tradition at my house too. Haven’t seen that flick in years either. As for the Burrough’s clip, I couldn’t make out half of what he was saying.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go over to my parents’ place and watch them wolf down turkey while I eat a cucumber and a few persimmons.
Posted by Charles from Jersey City on 11/27 at 02:57 PMHey guys, I don’t understand what crawled up Tim’s rear. He wrote that one despicable piece on Znet only hours after Obama was elected, lashing out at anarchists. I wondered if he had a bunch black masked kids in his front yard that night chanting “Obama sucks!” or something!
I guess this was all to be expected. If if any of you are feeling generous, could someone (of all 3 of you)post a link to something cool to read? Kisses.
Posted by Maxwell Black from Arlington Va on 11/27 at 04:16 PMHello Expendables. I noticed that Wise’s article appears to have to have been removed from Z Net’s front page.
Anyway, Charles, here’s what Burroughs is saying:
Thanks for the wild turkey and the passenger pigeon…destined to be shit out through wholesome American guts
Thanks for a continent to despoil and poison
Thanks for Indians to provide a modicum of challenge and danger
Thanks for vast herds of bison to kill and skin…leaving the carcasses to rot
Thanks for bounties on wolves and coyote
Thanks for the American dream: To vulgarize and to falsify until the bare lies shine through
Thanks for the KKK
For nigger-killin’ lawmen, feelin’ their notches
For decent church-goin’ women, with their mean, pinched, bitter, evil faces
Thanks for “Kill a Queer for Christ” stickers
Thanks for laboratory AIDS
Thanks for Prohibition and the war against drugs
Thanks for a country where nobody’s allowed to mind their own business
Thanks for a nation of finks
Yes, thanks for all the memories…all right, let’s see your arms
You always were a headache and you always were a bore
Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal of the last and greatest of human dreamsPosted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/27 at 06:38 PMOne thing’s for sure, Wise Tim included his picture and enough hit words that he should have world wide notoriety in 48 hours. No matter what you search for on the internet, Tim will be among the first 10.
He might be asked to speak on TV, Democracy Now, he might cut a CD singing all his favorites from Beal St.
Tim apparently blames others because they bring him down and he wants to be up. Tim even a mainstream psychologist would laugh at you. Tim speaks of people expressing rage for rage sake, yet his entire article is Tim expressing rage. [I got this one thrown at me by a local just the other day. Please Joe, be responsible for my emotions and my lack of understanding]
But you see, Tim fought against u.s. intervention in Central America 20 years ago and this makes him hip and now he wants to feel warm and Fuzzy while living a feel good lie and doesn’t want anyone waking him from his blissful coma.
Tim fits right into the patriarchal triad of bullshit by blaming others which is what War Inc. LLC. has been doing. He would probably tell an Iraqi to stop whining!
Posted by joe of maine from on 11/27 at 07:51 PMDead on, as usual, Joe. And Zen, since you mentioned Mumbai, I saw a newspaper headline that read: SLAUGHTER. Let’s imagine for one nanosecond that all slaughters received such coverage. It’d be enough to make Tim wise.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/27 at 08:25 PMWho decides which massacres are news worthy? I still don’t get it.
Posted by Charles from Jersey City on 11/27 at 08:54 PMWhen “our” enemies do it, it’s slaughter or terrorism. When “we” or “our” allies do it, it’s called retaliation.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 11/27 at 09:10 PMHmmm...is everyone too busy be “thankful”?
I think I’ll put up a new post and see what happens. I’ll see you all there.
