  1. douglas adams - human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others are also remarkable in their apparent disinclination to do so

aldous huxley - Experience is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him.

  4. Hello Expendables.

Speaking of standing on your feet and catastrophe sightseeing, how about building a mini-Disney World next to door to each sweatshop filled with pre-teen girls getting paid 10 cents an hour to make Mickey Mouse pajamas?

  5. Hi Mickey..4..I never could understand people’s fascination with disneyland/world, whatever.

From the life of a lie to life of a fantasy, developed by liers. And I’m very tired with the santa clause, traditional christmas marketing crap as well...good christ, can we possibly evolve to anything but this amost ameobe like stage of existing.

  7. I just received a call that reminded me, how to be ethical in an unethical society...then my mind wondered to a book given to me years ago, titled,
‘Some men are too gentle to live among wolves’

This is an erroneous statement about a beautiful animal but we know what James Kavanagh meant with his poetry about male archetypes, sterotypes, and to offer some compassion with all the crap we digest in this sick image, consumed society that lives out its lies until there is no life in the false any longer leaving us with the desire to seek truth.

  8. We could surely leanr a lot from wolves.

  9. There are men too gentle to live among wolves

Who prey upon them with IBM eyes
And sell their hearts and guts for martinis at noon.
Who dream instead of snow and children and Halloween
And wonder if leaves will change their color soon.

There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who anoint them for burial with greedy claws
And murder them for a merchant’s profit and gain.
There are men to gentle for a corporate world
Who dream instead of candied apples and ferris wheels
And pause to hear the distant whistle of a train.

There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who devour them with eager appetite and search
For other men to prey upon and suck their childhood dry.
There are men too gentle for an accountant’s world
Who dream instead of Easter eggs and fragrant grass
And search for beauty in the mystery of the sky.

There are men to gentle to live among wolves
Who toss them like a lost and wounded dove.
Such gentle men are lonely in a merchant’s world
Unless they have a gentle one to love.

  10. To

“A cat named Ralph who makes me laugh
    and feel loved
And a tired old man who makes me cry
    and feel helpless

    But especially those

Who can hear the honking of geese
    above the sound of traffic
Who can hear the weeping of boys
    above the sound of mortars
Who refuse to take life as it is-
    because it wasn’t always.”

James Kavanaugh...denounced the catholic church after quitting his priest job and put his thoughts into print...[I don’t know how well known Kavanaugh is]

  11. ‘Here we go again’...some lyrics by early Lou Reed…

Another personal thought by James Kavanaugh, and I also share both experiences.

    I Don’t Know When

I don’t know when it was
    Your touch became like mine
    To touch -to taste-to see,
And when I saw your face,
    I somehow saw my own!

Nor do I know when it was
    Your flesh became alien
    To touch-to taste-to see,
And when I saw your face,
    I somehow saw a stranger!

  12. Does anyone in cyber world know......in 1959, Henry Aaron was batting over .400 in the middle of September...that was when baseball people only played 154 games each season...only? How could anyone play baseball 154 times? Talking about addictive behavior..

Aaron would have been the first player to bat .400 since Ted Williams, who is either frozen or waiting to be on a wine bottle label.

But unfortunately, Aaron ended the season with a .355 batting average.

Anyone ever heard of Juan Fangio? Another sporting figure. I apologize for this regressive behavior fore I have allowed memories to fog my being and not very enlightening memories either!

I’ve been away for a few days to re-boot my brain (it didn’t work- never does) but otherwise had a fine time.

Now that I’m back, a fond hello to all the Expendables. There’s some bad news for Bobison: joe from maine doesn’t exist, either.

  14. Hey, hey, hey...Edna St. Vincent Millay doesn’t have the right to be cynical, considering she was often cited by Leo Buscaglia in his lectures.

Michael #2.  A good rebuttal to Douglas Adams’s pull quote on the top of the home page of your URL is contained in Richard Dawkins wonderful book, “The God Delusion.” I wouldn’t presume to capture the nuance but it is to the effect that, that all the intricate detail that engenders the miracle of our rare births and environment, is enough cause for wonder.  [But don’t tell me that last night around eight when I was cussing out the camera crews for NBC and Fox news in downtown Chicago, and on the brink of becoming a woman-hater.  Arrgh.]

Mickey #4.  As good an idea as it is unlikely in this capitalist pigsty.

  18. as my patience is tested by the lack of concern americans have for any life form, this Arab woman speaks for me…

“Kill them all to silence them into Peace. Murder them all so they can submit, surrender to Peace. Hunt them down, exile them and let them wish for a return to Peace. Give them divided pieces so you can shove Peace down their throats, like a cork before their grief explodes your Peace. Make them skeletons of Peace. Riddle them with Radiation, Bacterias, Germs, Viruses and they will swallow Peace. Imprison them and torture them till their skins fall off and form scabs of Peace. Starve them so you can see through their ribs and they will beg and eat Peace. Let them stutter with fear so they can murmur Peace. A beautiful peaceful Genocide. A silent, peaceful Holocaust from the makers of Peace.”

  19. Boy...this chant is familiar!

Congress is not preparing to defend the people of the United States. It is planning to protect the capital of American speculators and investors in Mexico, South America, China, and the Philippine Islands. Incidentally this preparation will benefit the manufacturers of munitions and war machines.

Speech at Carnegie Hall, New York City, January 5, 1916

  20. a year before…

The burden of war always falls heaviest on the toilers. They are taught that their masters can do no wrong, and go out in vast numbers to be killed on the battlefield. And what is their reward? If they escape death they come back to face heavy taxation and have their burden of poverty doubled. Through all the ages they have been robbed of the just rewards of their patriotism as they have been of the just reward of their labor.

The only moral virtue of war is that it compels the capitalist system to look itself in the face and admit it is a fraud. It compels the present society to admit that it has no morals it will not sacrifice for gain. During a war, the sanctity of a home, and even of private property is destroyed. Governments do what it is said the “crazy Socialists” would do if in power.

  21. Before I recite baseball statistics, I’d like to add another thought. If anyone is not interested in baseball data, please let me know...I’ll write it anyway…

“Individuals and communities disengaging from a top-down-controlled global economic system is the most revolutionary act I can imagine. When we become producers instead of just consumers, we are taking back control over our lives and our future. When the food, water, and other resources we need to survive are supplied by ourselves and a circle of friends and neighbors in our community then we will understand freedom.”
