    The Glaspie-Saddam meeting along with Rumsfeld’s infamous handshake are rarely mentioned and when they are, you can guarantee it’s done in the name of smearing Republicans only. Meanwhile, Obama talks of bombing Pakistan.

  4. Hey Expendables… after more examinations and x-rays and all that it’s confirmed that I’ll need root canal by sometime in September. And a thousand or so dollars to pay for it. Which I don’t have as of now. Someone should really make a movie about how crappy medical care is in this country. Or maybe a blog entry, that might do the trick.

  7. I don’t really have it that bad, compared to what root canals can cost, since I’m going to the NYU dental school to be worked on by student dentists with professors overseeing. I’ve used them for check-ups and cavities and all that, but still… thousand bucks.

  9. James...I know a dentist, he comes highly recommended, has all of the latest equipment, hugs his patients when he has completed their dental work, and he only charges $150 for a root canal. Unfortunately his office is in Costa Rica.

    Mickey...thanks for bringing up one of my favorite topics, “APRIL GLASPIE” - the one responsible for the “Bait-and-switch” war. The Press really missed the boat on that one. She just faded away into oblivion. It’s not too late. We should put out a call for her and do an interview. The first question, “ Are you really that frightened because of what you know or have you been paid off????”

    Hi joe...I just made iced tea - my special formula which includes green and black teas and rose hips. Want some?.....That just reminded me of something very silly. Most of my life I thought that it was wrong to live extravagantly or be self indulgent, so I never made ice cubes. To me that was a luxury. Now that I am past 70, I make ice cubes and I am enjoying everything “on the rocks”.

RMJ...9...I could use some ice tea...very hot in Maine...tonight is a town meeting about tentative plans for when the military leaves Brunswick Naval Air station...I thought about NOT going due to my impatience with bureauacracies...[I don’t want to go balistics and have a stroke because of development as usual and backwards council people]

    I’m supporting a group who wantS to maintain a good size plot of land, 500 acres for a park that cannot be developed...Brunswick Gardens.

    I’m sure the money and influencial already have their claws in this navy base and possibly all these town meetings are to pacify the locals and divert their attention from dirtier deeds already occuring...?

  15. JOS...There are some dumb movies that no matter how many times you see them it’s just not enough. For me, I watch “Office Space” every time that it is on.
    joe...when is the military getting out of the Naval Air Station? Close it down now. You can do it !

  16. RMJ 15, The base closing is official in 2011, I think...squardrons moved to Florida, so that, and many think, military will be closer to wage wars against Central and South America.

  17. Yep joe...I get what you are saying. They’ll shut down one base and open 2 more. Did you follow the proposed closing of the military installation at Portsmouth a couple of years ago? The local people seemed to be opposed to the closing.  The “we need the jobs” argument is used so often.
