Last of the 2010 summer re-runs: Labor Day Weekend
Hi all…
Thanks for the tribute to Chavez and all of the farm workers. The plight of the migrants and their children is too often ignored. How much longer must this go on??? Remember “Harvest of Shame” which was first aired decades ago. Nothing has changed.
Buying tomatoes harvested by children is no more innocent than buying ‘blood diamonds’, or using oil for recreational yachting…The recent news report showing little kids working in the farm fields left a lasting impression on me. Sad…

Posted by Joe of Maine from The Window on 09/05 at 02:54 PMThanks for the Chavez tribute from me as well - and hi Mickey, Rosemarie, Bob T. and Joe of Maine from Daylesford where over the weekend, we have had some ‘wild and woolly weather’, as one journalist described it: torrential rain which went on for almost 24 hours at one stage, and strong winds which led to the uprooting of trees across wide areas of Australia’a southeast, flooding and - to a black-out of almost 17 hours from Saturday night until Sunday afternoon in Daylesford, the longest we have experienced in a long time. It will be good to ‘escape’ to warmer climes. Yes, my New York holiday is only 6 days away, and I look forward to meeting the Cool Observer some between 13 and 24 September. In the meantime, take care, Mickey - and all you other expendables, take care as well!
Auf Wiedersehen,
HelgaPosted by Helga from Daylesford, Australia on 09/05 at 07:01 PMHave a good trip Helga.
I was doing a bit of Summer re-running myself this week. Checking around the odd sites like Harry’s Place and so-called pro-war left and the right-libertarians, Euston Manifesto people etc etc. They have a common thread but it’s hard to put your finger on it.
I think I finally found the simple shared element. That they are all hostile to dissent.
Maybe we can call them: politically incoherent subverters of dissent?

A new post is now up and running.
See you there…
