  1. I wondered why, if it’s possible to get so many hundred thousand to march and protest, it’s not possible to get ten times that number to declare mourning and simply stop doing whatever they do that makes money for people who give orders to kill. A one (or more) day work stoppage would have given nothing to the infotainers to work with. What it would do is hit some bottom lines. Plus, it’s hard to beat, pepper spray and jail people who just stay home.

  2. Harry, there seems to be a major disconnect between marching in circles on a weekend day and committing oneself to action. To me, that is THE primary victory of the American corporate propaganda machine.

Thanks for all the comments...please feel free to invite other to the site.

  3. Mickey, I agree. It’s like people are trapped and just spinning their wheels in actions prescribed for them by the very people and forces they oppose.

I will invite people, and thank you for keeping this space on the web open, but I bet many are lurking already. I always do that for new (to me) sites with comments sections.

  4. An very important article I think...I think many of us were expecting somewhat more to come of the RNC protests...but it didn’t seem to even register - and now one week on, it’s done and forgotten. This is not to say there was not courage, creativity and or sacrifice on the streets, but this certainly should be a wakeup call…

Part of the problem, dare I say, stems from the profusion of identity politics, which results in these loosely unified (sometimes outright sectarian) pockets of ‘look at me’ activists.

  5. Chomsky and others have spoken about the second superpower, world public opinion.  When millions upon millions of people around the world marched on 2/15 before the war many country’s leaders had to listen.  The next time our government decides to go to war we will see an even larger reaction that might be powerful enough to stop a war before it begins.  I agree that action is most important, but protest must continue.  Yes, this isn’t the 60’s anymore, we don’t wait until 5 or 6 years AFTER the war started to begin protesting.
