  1. Congratulations, MZ. The story sounds great and the cover is sharp.

Bets on when the Wisconsin capitol occupation gets charged with eco-terrorism?

  2. Thanks, Zen.

Sadly, my only expectation is that some savvy politician will figure out which meaningless bone to toss the protestors to get them headed back home with their false victory and talk of democracy.

    I hope I’m proven wrong but…

  3. CONGRATULATIONS, AGAIN MICKEY!!!

Hi Zen… I thought about you last night as I watched a rebroadcast of Chris Hedges. He said some really impressive things about the moral imperative to protest, even if you know you can’t win.

Yep- I bet the Wisconsin protesters vote dem/repub again next time.

  4. Just venting…

Am I the only one getting weary listening to the middle class whining - they should try being part of the really poor class. Every time I hear “the middle class” I think about how divisive and prejudicial the comment is.  Some investors in the ‘middle class’ make money while they are sleeping. The poor struggle, often at back-breaking jobs.

Also, while the nation was focused on the Oscars, the government awarded a 35 BILLION dollar contract to Boeing - while at the same time telling us that the country is so broke that we can’t give medical care to the sick and dying.

    Thanks for listening.....

  5. Hi RMJ. What reminded you, the moral imperative or not winning? LOL

Much as I want the Wisconsin protest to spread, someone pointed out that they’re liberals, not progressives or radicals. The groups “organizing” the protest literally have their feet in the fire, so it’s not exactly ahead of the anti-fascist curve.

Agreed about ‘middle class,’ RMJ. It’s the only acceptable class term to use, and also meaningless/useless. CTJ pointed out that Boeing hasn’t paid federal taxes in years. http://tinyurl.com/4qryg55

  6. Hi Zen...Every time I see Hedges, I think of you because I know that you admire him. He makes a great arguement in favor of resisting even when there is no hope of success.

Yes, I agree that ‘middle class’ is the politically acceptable term, but it is so filled with prejudice.  Those in the ‘poor class’ are subjected to constant discrimination and stereotyping and no one comes to their defense....  Though someone recently said that Madoff was prosecuted because his victims were the upper middle class. If they had been poor no one would have even noticed. I liked that comment.

Zen...you are wise to be where you are. So far this winter I have had 8 FEET of snow - I just developed carpal tunnel syndrome from shoveling so much. Never had that problem before.  Flooding is predicted when the melting comes.

  7. Congratulations from me as well, Mickey!  I shall get back to you re that book.

Hello, Zen Prole and Rosemarie - from an admirer of Chris Hedges.

Here in Daylesford, it is only 58F today, a mere 4 degrees more than in New York.  It’s the first day of autumn/fall.

  8. Good morning everyone. Yes, many headlines stating protestors around the world seeking democracy. What definition of democracy is being referenced? The right to vote for deciders, the ride to vote for not having deciders, the u.s. definition of democracy?

I can’t stand to even see that word anymore. I think we need to get beyond believing we need deciders. If there is an over population problem, I guess it’s possible people can feel overwhelmed and think some kind of ‘body’ of people need to keep some kind of organization, which we’ve never had, only authority, abusive authority.

‘They’ say without government, deciders, there would be chaos. Chaos is all we’ve ever had, 1600-2011. Let’s try it without deciders, without compliant, fear stricken herds. Let’s try living with the planet instead of at the expense of the planet. I have no answers so for the time being, I’ll try to become conscious and perhaps try to go beyond being conscious. There are so many problems to deal with, I don’t know if there’s time to fart.
