Vegan backpackers eat their way around the world
Not a vegan but had a very nice vegan meal tonight in my favourite pub which i have had not had the chance to visit for more than a year on account of not having been at home.
was a bit disappointed tho cos they have always had a beautiful portrait of bill hicks on the wall that has now gone. when i asked why they said that what with current financial climate they have to keep the pub going and they continually got more and more ridiculous offers for the hicks portrait.
eventually they had to sell it for a ludicrous offer to keep the (vegan) place going.
aside from that, thanks for the ratings on the opednews thing.
i would have liked to have called the short article “publicity seeking bitch shows her true colours”
but there you go.
Posted by michael from the other side of scotland from before on 08/23 at 06:22 PMThanks, Michael. Cool story, re: Hicks.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 08/23 at 07:08 PMAnother (wet) day in Daylesford - and another great posting from the Cool Observer. Thanks, Mickey, and thanks, michael for your story.
Off to Melbourne tomorrow, back online on Thursday, so take until then!
Posted by Helga from Daylesford, Australia on 08/24 at 04:15 AMThis is interesting.
It’s years too late and minces words a little, takes some hesitant steps ... but it makes a point we’ve been pushing since the start.
In invasions, ‘the troops’ are criminals and there’s no need to support them.
Good reality check from RMJ there in the comments too.
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 08/24 at 05:02 AMHi Helga.
Thanks, Andy. Yeah, that piece is a rather tepid critique but I’ll bet most Americans would call for the author’s head.
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 08/24 at 06:02 AMHello everyone.
just tried to watch Fox news for a bit to see if I could appreciate it on a comedy level. Now going to get blood pressure tested.
Posted by michael from scotland on 08/24 at 07:41 AMThey now have a band singing “We’ve all got a hillbilly deep down inside” ..... speak for yourself.
Posted by michael from scotland on 08/24 at 07:45 AMAye, nice Hicks story, michael. What a shame they had to sell. Hope they got a bundle for it.
Thanks for the book offer, MZ. Done.
“Vegan food is everywhere” sounds like a Pentagon press release. “If we’re not careful, it might lead to excess sensibility.”
Posted by Zen Prole from New Brunswick (temp) on 08/24 at 08:56 PMHi all,
Cheers for the dissident voice link Andy - oh and I spent yesterday starting to organize to get myself to Hangzhou sometime next year....
Posted by subgenius from hell-A on 08/25 at 01:04 AMHangzhou is an hour and 20 mins away from me on the express train, and it’s a nice town. Got a lake and some hills right on the city centre.
Thanks to the rail link you can do Shanghai for weekends too. There’s even some islands with beaches in the Hangzhou bay area.
let me know if you end up coming.
Posted by Andy from Shanghai on 08/25 at 03:40 AMThanks, all. A new post is now up and running.
See you there…
Posted by Mickey Z. from Astoria on 08/25 at 03:53 PMAfter 12 years as a vegetarian I started eating meat again for many reasons and I FEEL GREAT!
Naturally raised organic beef is soooo good.
Being aware of where your food comes from is essential no matter what diet you choose.
