How about "Neither Party"?
This is an issue that sticks in my craw a lot. Instead of forming another non-duopoly (AKA neither) party to join the list of third parties that are presently in existence, I’ve been advocating the pooling of all third party resources toward the common and overarching objective of removing the grip that the duopoly currently has on the electoral process. Goliath (the duopoly) reigns only because all of the Davids (the third parties) are unaligned and not unified in their efforts. We need a coalition effort amongst all the third parties that currently exist, not a new David to the fold.
Posted by Nader Rider on from 11/20 at 09:38 PMThe following is an excerpt from the Neither Party website under “What is Neither Party”. I think you will find the Neither Party recognizes the necessity of getting other third parties involved in the fight. We are not just another third party, we seek to unite as many other third parties as possible that share similar views, agendas and philosophies to gain the muscle needed to make peaceful change happen.
“What is the Neither Party?
We are a new internet-based political party representing a new paradigm of political activism. We represent the virtual voice of the reality based community. What we are building is the next logical step, after first admitting the present two-party system is dangerously flawed, and needs fixing. Now. Yesterday. We intend to be the catalyst required to mobilize those who are discouraged, dissatisfied, outraged or terrified at the direction our two party system is leading us, or those who feel that the political process is simply not worth their time or efforts. What could possibly be more important than the future of humanity and our planet?
We will bring together many of the existing third parties under “one tent” and unite us rather than pitting us against each other. The Neither Party extends the olive branch of welcome to Republocrats of both wings, as well as all of the other niche or one-issue third parties. United we stand; divided we fall.
If you are disenchanted or disgusted with your present political party, we encourage you to join us. We encourage intra-party discourse and dissent, and trust that vetting of platform planks, party positions and candidates by party members (directors) will ensure that our member support is broad-based and inclusive.
Becoming a member gives you the opportunity to fully participate in the VBOD Forum (Virtual Board of Directors Forum). In the VBOD Forum you can share your thoughts and ideas, and offer suggestions for edits concerning any or all issues. As a paying member (a director), you will be vetting the Neither Party Platform (participating in the evolution of various positions) and nominating those who also believe a fundamental change of direction is necessary for the survival of our Nation.
The sooner we start, the better chance we have of succeeding. We must start now!
Please help by sharing this with people who might appreciate it.”Posted by Harold Pierce on from Central NY 11/21 at 10:16 AMSince we’re quoting from the website:
“The Neither Party is an attempt initiated by John Rice, Jr. (non-candidate-founder and current spokesperson) to use capitalism on behalf of democracy and in the process, offer ‘customers’ (voters) a ‘unique product’ (an entirely unique party platform), and for the first time in fifty years or more, a choice greater than either side of the same old coin (Republocrats).”
So are the Socialists already excluded then? And, if you intend to attempt a unification of effort amongst all of the currently existing third parties, ceating a “unique product” (i.e. an entorely unique patry plaform) ahead of time is not the way to go about it.
To create a unified and aligned effort of all the third parties, you have to invite all of them to the table with all of their positions on the issues that are important to them… with the goal of acheiving a consensus on the few issues that everyone can agree on as the common, overarching issues.
It appears that the Neither Party has already identified which positions on which issues it wants to advocate… before such a dialogue has even been conducted.
Not the best way of accomplishing a unified effort, in my opinion.
Posted by Nader Rider on from 11/21 at 11:10 AMNader Rider....I think you have many points that are relevant, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for talking about it.
This website, I believe, is just a starting point. The idea is to gain support of people who aren’t satisfied with the current “system”, which we contend is virtually two branches of one party (Republicans and Democrats). So in effect, what is the choice (seemingly the lesser of two evils), and what kind of choice is that?
There has never been a unifying voice, and there never will be unless people stand up to this corrupt system.
The goal is to get members to take the initiative, vet the platform, vet candidates, etc. and shape this party into one they can support.
Nothing on this website is “set in stone” and in fact, we encourage participation in order to “polish” the message.
We need your help, and the help of others who are not satisfied with the current “system” and we seek direction, suggestions and involvement from all who are interested in seeing postive peaceful change happen. In order for that to happen, we need the muscle (strength in numbers) and we invite you to take a vested interest in helping to make that happen.
The platform is just a starting point, more “issues” will be added, positions can be modified, along with virtually everything else on this site.
We have attempted to create a virtual community where issues and ideas can be hashed out, where people can organize their efforts and take a serious stand against the insanity our government, both Republicans and Democrats, have led us.
The current party platform is there to start the ball rolling, not the end all.
