  1. I am pleased to see a complimentary article in the conventional media re. a radical lifetsyle activist.  But I am not pleased to read that Starbucks has come to Astoria, since I left NY many moons ago.  Yikes!

    As for Starbuck’s...that’s the least of it. Astoria still rocks but gentrification has dulled the edges a bit.

  3. It pains me to hear that Little Greece has changed as much as it has, MZ.  And I will really be chagrined if I find out that the same thing is happening to Little Russia, or Brighton Beach, also.  Regards.

  4. It’s nice to read a mainstream media mini-bio that doesn’t descend into ludicrous misrepresentation. A lot of the reporters feel trapped into following scripts that place ads and sell copy. So many of them start out as populists wanting to make the world a better place then find they’ve gotten sucked into a system that drains them of integrity.
