I’m going to continue pretty much the way I’ve been going, just more so I really enjoy helping people who are making a difference, whether it’s with a pitiful few dollars or my time. The one absolute essential is paying more attention to my education so I can do it better.

Hi Mickey thanks for the good vibes. Yeah I have been refusing to support America Inc. for a few years and now that im at the end of my savings, 2005 will be an interesting year. Oh, I’d go back to living in a truck, in a heartbeat. That is the best way to live. http://ledgerism.net/about.htm Works for me. But not my 10 year old Hiroki, he likes the neighbrhood and has too many friends in the school so Im stuck with a lot of bills I guess. There’s no mercy from the relentless apparatus of control in America i.e. money. But otoh, it’s not hard to find right livelihood either. So I’ll get some sort of a job. For a *while*.

Great inspiration, Mickey! I’m thinking along the same lines as 2005 revs up: in a Corporatist System, it all comes back to the money, so what we consume is at the heart of everything. As A. Roy has said, they just adjust to our beloved “symbolic actions,” return to normal - we must hit them where it hurts, and that means how we make and spend money. We must help people see the connections between our money and the lives of people all over the world. What is the March to the Sea for 2005?

We sure need a “march to the sea,” John, because while it’s great to learn of so many turning their backs on the “system,” the public-at-large needs to know this is happening...and why.

I’ve been spending lots of time lately thinking about how to best let people know about it myself - my piece of this effort - I think part of it is this kind of dialogue, and Deb’s PBU idea expands that to another level for me, becoming sort of a forum on how to reach the public and go beyond just talking among ourselves. I’ve also been working for years on a book related to my Vietnam experience - I want to try to finish that - maybe to re-write it in the context of the current situation. All this is hard in the midst of making a living and raising children, but it’s important work we’re engaged in. You’re a real inspiration to me, so thanks!
Also - did you see Kerry’s “Second Capitulation” or whatever they called it? And did you feel oh so vindicated in what you said to Mark about not being able to vote for him? I wish now I had not. I was just in panic over Bush. And looking for some highly visible way to be anti-Bush. But he’s absolutely just as bad. “I like George Bush,” he says. Tho I know we must go beyond politics, I also am convinced we must have a real third party by 2008. Might the Greens become a vehicle?

I felt quite sure about not voting for Kerry...as I will when Hillary is touted as the messiah in three years. I much prefer the type of “personal is political” activism being discussed here to electoral politics.
