Mickey Z. interview, review & two more anthologies, Gulf news & views, and a Rosemarie update
Has anyone ever been around when a President happens to be visiting nearby?
Everything is shut down...in places like N.O. and Biloxi, I am sure helicopter flights are restricted, construction is stopped and rescuers are put on stand by.
----
Rosemarie, I am going to try my best to come up with some helpful ideas.
----
Mickey, great posts this weekend...just catching up now.
Peace,
James
Posted by James on from Estado "Libre" Asociado de Puerto Rico 09/06 at 10:40 AMGreat line from the Vaughan interview:
The government in the U.S., for example, is practically socialist when it comes to using public money to subsidize private industry. Of course, the profits remain privatized.
Posted by James on from Estado "Libre" Asociado de Puerto Rico 09/06 at 10:48 AMYeah, James...I’ve been stuck in more than my share of presidential security logjams here in NYC.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 09/06 at 01:28 PMAll the problems the government needs to face and they are picking on Rosemarie. Is the “Banner” a double entendre?
Posted by Lee Hall on from 09/06 at 04:23 PMJames, I’m depending on you.
Mickey, thanks for doing this.
Lee, the sad part of the problem, is that the public is being so very poorly served by the Press and the electronic media these days. I just visited a site called Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press (or something like that). I could not resist writing to them to say that sometimes it is NOT the government that suppresses the important news, sometimes it is the Press itself through negligence or incompetence. My Appeal is not only about me. The Appeal is about the precedent that will be set by this legal case. It will affect cases in the future. Previous case law is always used. Rules of Evidence in future cases depend, to some degree, on the decision made in my case.
I am feeling a higher level of dissatisfaction with the Press today because today while I was out, several local people came up to me to ask what was happening. I told them to visit this site but many don’t have computers so their only access to local news is through the newspaper. The Banner is still not acknowledging most of the letters, but I am very, very grateful to all of you.Posted by rosemarie jackowski on from crossing the line 09/06 at 05:08 PMRosemarie: Trying to do my part…
Just let me know if the crew at Democracy Now! contacts you regarding an interview (as I have just now requested). It would give you some much needed visibility on hundreds of stations across the country.
In solidarity.
Posted by RT on from Houston 09/06 at 05:21 PMExcellent idea, RT. Let’s all send a request to Democracy Now: .
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 09/06 at 05:23 PMWould probably be better to “submit a story idea”, as I did.
Please see: http://www.democracynow.org/storyidea.pl
Posted by RT on from Houston 09/06 at 05:27 PMI tried both:
I sent an e-mail to and submitted it as a story idea here: http://www.democracynow.org/storyidea.pl
Feel free to point the DN folks back to the site here so they can see images of Rosemarie to put a face on the story.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 09/06 at 05:34 PMRT and Mickey...WHAT A GREAT IDEA !!!
Posted by rosemarie jackowski on from crossing the line 09/06 at 05:43 PMAnother idea: contact Mike Albert at ZMag:
Maybe he can include Rosemarie’s battle in a free update today or tomorrow (which goes out to thousands of folks)... Make sure he also mentions this site, and also encourages folks to request for the DN! interview, as we’re doing. The more requests, the better…
And it probably wouldn’t hurt to contact Matt Rothschild at the Progressive as well. Perhaps we can get him to write a piece for this on his McCarthyism Watch or something.Just some more ideas…

Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 09/06 at 05:59 PM“My Appeal is not only about me.”
Rosemarie: thank you. I will do what I can.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague 09/06 at 07:25 PMThanks Keir...Just to refresh memories about what I did. I stood, in solemn silence, with my head bowed holding a sign. The sign is an important part of this case. It was confiscated by the police and held in the police evidence room for a year, because it was such an important piece of evidence. Then, on the day of the Trial, the government refused to produce the sign and we had to subpoena it....Probably the only time in history that a sign had to be subpoenaed. That is just one tiny example of how far the government will go to suppress evidence, in my opinion. If you want more information, I wrote something about it. You can google THE TRIAL, and also A COURTROOM SPEECH. I think that they are both on PressAction too.

Jack Burkman in Damage Control: Wanker
On Connected today, Jack defended the president with this logic.
You have to listen to him to hear the shear “deadness in his heart”
which is at the core of all apologists in a tragedy of this
magnitude.Jack: “I understand there are 10,000 people dead. It’s terrible.
It’s tragic. But in a democracy of 300 million people, over
years and years and years, these things happen.”

I kid you not...Maybe Michael Brown should have listened to this

so you can be prepared For floods, tornadoes, or even a ‘quake,
You’ve got to be ready - so your heart don’t break. Disaster prep
is your responsibility And mitigation is important to our agency.People helping people is what we do And FEMA is there to help see
you through When disaster strikes, we are at our best But we’re
ready all the time, ‘cause disasters don’t rest.”If you can listen please describe what the person sounds like, not able to listen myself. I’m thinking he sounds like a suit. does he say word at the end?
