A Thursday Quadruple Feature
the most widely accepted definition of a rogue state is that it is a country which consistently defies international law and the treaties which it has signed. on that basis i think that the US, the UK and israel should invade themselves as, if that definition of rogue state is accepted, they are the countries that have the worst records.
Posted by michael on from scotland 10/13 at 07:45 AMput that last post up before i looked at the little film. occasionally over here we get stats like 50% of americans couldn’t point out europe on a map. i always assumed such things to be bullshit. i am not so sure now!
Posted by michael on from scotland 10/13 at 08:26 AMYeah, well, we Yanks would invade Scotland and teach you a lesson, Michael...but we just can’t remember where it is.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/13 at 08:28 AMtechnically speaking you already have! when we were talking about bases a few weeks back i neglected to mention that quite a few of the military bases in scotland and england are actually american.
i also read an interesting thing a while ago that said the US has the legal right to launch nuclear attacks (they already launch non-nuclear attacks) from their bases here without asking permission of the british prime minister first. should this happen every spy satellite in the world would light up showing that the UK started it and would therefore be in line for the first response
hello from airstrip one!
and about the map thing - it works two ways. as well as US military dominance their is a cultural dominance too. if i were to ask 20 people here to name 10 american movies, bands, tv shows and so on they could do it easily. if i asked them to name 10 british ones they would find it a lot harder.
Posted by michael on from scotland 10/13 at 08:41 AMGood mornin’ Mickey and Michael...I wish that I could think of something humorous to say about the dumbing-down in this country. It is one of my favorite topics. I will keep trying to think of something witty, meantime I just received this request from VFP and am passing it along to you./////////////////////
Folks,
The ROTC at Cal State Fullerton is planning a Huey exhibition on the athletic field of the college for ROTC and other students and faculty.
If we can get a color picture of a crashed Huey, I’ll get it blown into a ten foot laminated poster and post it on the field through the campus P&J organization, and perhaps do a VFP table at the event.
Time of the essence here, so any help anyone might give would be appreciated.
Wage Peace,
Dan Kelly, Chapter 110,Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/13 at 09:01 AMinteresting story…
I am cavorting with the enemy. I work for a company that sells and maintains helicoptors and we recently sold some that were dressed to the nines in survielience equipment supplied by a company that also supplies our military.
Of course, the crap keeps breaking so they sent this guy over here to fix it. I picked him up from his hotel this morning and we got to talking. Turns out he’s been to Iraq 7 times this year. He flys into Jordon or Kuwait and then gets flown in by the military or “some other agency.” I tried to get him to talk more about it, but I am pretty sure he has been told not to talk about it..."he has all of the clearance” and all of that.
This is a big part of the reason why I will be leaving this job at the end of the year. I don’t know how to feel about it other than the fact that it makes me sick to think about it. Anyway, I should probably be keeping this “on the down low,” but what the hell.

Posted by JOS on from Isla Grande Airport 10/13 at 10:13 AMFelt I needed to share today’s Boondocks with everyone.
This is like so my life. lolExcept that I’m not 12, black, and living with my neighbors so Grandpa can trick his cousin’s family into leaving his house after they got washed out of there home in NO.
Posted by Luna_C on from the Delta 10/13 at 10:47 AMHello everyone. RMJ: I found this page for Huey images: http://tinyurl.com/albjy
I’ll be back later…
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/13 at 11:38 AMthe guys who made the piece on who to attack next have done another one....
http://www.crooksandliars.com - its the 4th one down at time of writing but that site is updated all them time so it might move soon
Posted by michael on from scotland 10/13 at 01:42 PMThanks Mickey. I have passed the link along and gave this site full credit. .....I have been thinking. What happens when a person is so far to the Left that Ward Churchill starts to seem almost too mainstream? I have been thinking about the J Frank interview which was very good. Churchill seems to be such a nice-guy-next-door type. Maybe I’m missing something or maybe I’m just wishing that an anarchist would move in next door.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/13 at 01:56 PMdon’t u mean turn next door into a collective!?
Posted by michael on from scotland 10/13 at 02:12 PMmichael, Only if I can have my own room. Nobody ever wants to sleep with me because I have C-Span on all night!
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/13 at 02:31 PMReality show idea: The Anarchist Next Door.
Soap Opera: As the C Spans.
Thanks for the link, Michael. I’ll watch it now.
JOS: We’re all rooting for you to quit.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/13 at 02:51 PMthanks, Mickey. My next job will be helping to create jobs for minorities (not my favorite word or description, I’ll have to work on that)...I can’t wait.
Posted by JOS on from Isla Grande Airport 10/13 at 04:12 PM“The Anarchist Next Door”, “As the C Spans”....I love your sense of wit. I can’t stop laughing. Bill Maher needs you, Mickey.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/13 at 04:29 PMHi Michael, RMJ, JOS, Luna_C and .. Mickey and
thanks for this most excellent post, Mickey! Gore Vidal looks good, and re the question which country to invade next: do Syria, Iran and/or Venezuela come to anyone’s mind?Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 10/13 at 04:53 PMAnd michael, can I use your definition of a ‘rogue state’ as my ‘quote of the day’ or do you claim copyright?
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 10/13 at 04:54 PMHello Expendable Persons - Great links today.
Hi Mickey. The page loaded much more quickly, today, though the graphics were still great. Nice work.
JOS - I truly wish you well in whatever you might do. Wherever you work, they’ll be lucky to have you. BTW, I read a piece somewhere about Bush’s blinking and twitching, but they said they thought it might be a side effect of anti-psychotic medications, “tardive dyskinesia.” (Just another goofy theory, of course, but an interesting one.)
Luna, I love those cartoons. The kid is great!
Rosemarie, with the exception of most of the folks here, I rarely encounter people who seem “radical” enough. Which is to say, I rarely encounter people who seem to have been honest enough with themselves to look very long and very hard at what we’re all facing. The system itself, which encompasses each and every aspect of our lives, is corrupt and psychotic to its very core. It MUST go, however frightening a thought that is… As one ponders such things, it becomes obvious that all of us have a stake in the status quo. How much are we really willing to surrender?
I honestly feel I want nothing so much as a world without government, without any sort of top-down arrangements. And, the more I consider it, the more certain I feel: WE are our only hope, our only chance to change the world. If it comes from above, no lasting change can ever be accomplished.Posted by joe on from Coming to a theater near You! 10/13 at 05:39 PMHello again, all. You know, every time I look in the damn mirror, I see someone who’s not radical enough.
RMJ: If you know anyone who knows Maher, please let me know.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/13 at 06:10 PMSpeaking about looking in the mirror reminded me of this article which has made an impression on me and I can’t stop thinking about it. http://www.counterpunch.org/renteria02262005.html
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/13 at 06:56 PM“side effect of anti-psychotic medications, “tardive dyskinesia.””
Joe, I think we spoke of the jaw movement thing that GWB has a while back. This goofy theory fits right in with that…
Posted by JOS on from Puerto Rico 10/13 at 09:16 PMThe “mirror” comment made me think of a Jesus story, and a joe story. Jesus says: “Hey, you want to clean the crap out of your neighbor’s eye, because you think it clouds his vision, and causes him to behave like an idiot. Well, first clean the mountains of garbage out of your own eye, then you’ll see clearly enough to clean the speck from your neighbor’s eye.”
Now, I think of this little teaching tale, in reference to all the psudo-Christians who want to clean up “America’s Vision.” I think of it, that is, as a way to help them clean the crap out of their eyes.
I do NOT think of it in reference to joe’s desperate desire to clean the crap from the eyes of the psudo-Christians…Rosemarie, the Renteria piece is amazingly good. Thank you.

Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/13 at 09:32 PMHi JOS - I’m sorry, we must have been writing at the same time.
Yes, it sure seems to fit right in. I guess drinking too much alcohol, for too long, can do similar things. Poor bastard. Here he is, very rich, very powerful, from a long line of elites - and still miserable, lost, confused. If the ruling class is really composed of such bright, “superior” folks, you’d think they’d notice that “stuff” does not equal “happy.” But, not only do they NOT notice - they’re raping and looting and destroying the entire world in pursuit of more and more stuff… Where do they think THEY and their kids are going to go when they’ve completely destroyed the planet? They can’t live forever in those billion dollar bunkers they’re building - and who would want to?
Damnit, I’ve got to help them get the crap out of their eyes!Posted by joe on from Oregon 10/13 at 09:42 PMG`night, Mickey Z. I just saw a picture of a flooded Times Square… Wow!
Posted by joe on from Oregon 10/13 at 09:46 PMhelga, i was paraphrasing noam and i am sure he wouldn’t give a shit if u used it!
