Good morning!

Mickey it’s carnival links day again!!
I haven’t gone to see them all yet, but I want to go back and look at the Palestine story I am very interested to see how this goes, of course I hope it goes well, but I’m anxious to see how this will be handled both within and without Palestine. I’d like to agree with an uncompromising approach to their principles but I need to know more.
The Mossadeh (sp?) piece is also intriguing.
Wouldn’t the State of the Union be more interesting to watch if we were looking at red or blue brain matter? or ANY brains??

I’m in to say HI to everyone and let you all know that there are still more links going up around the WWW about RMJ. I’m still really busy but I am lurking even if I’m not able to be as participatory as I’d like.

Mickey, are you talking about “hyperlinks”? I have been trying to teach myself that for a long time. Still can’t do it. Do you have any tips for those of us who are techno-logistically challenged?

RMJ I liked that linked article alot. It’s pretty much how I think when I’m watching gwb blow gas while addressing the public. If we could take him at his word, his administration must be making plans to invade themselves in a coup to bring democracy to your nation. ?!

The hyperlink jive.... I’ll try and type this without making it happen here, so all everytime you see one of these “<”, you should type it the opposite way when you attempt to create a hyperlink.
I’m no techie, but I think this works on most platforms:

>a href="(insert the URL here)"target="new"<(link text here)>/a<

this part is optional: target="new”
but it’s much nicer since it means that the link opens in a new page. If you omit it your page will be redirected to the link.

Amelopsis...thanks for the hyperlink help. I will try it as soon as I eat something. Have not had time for food since yesterday...........Wanted you to know that I had an “expert” analyze my controversial deposition. This guy is a friend and a lawyer. He says that out of 136 pages of my testimony, 17 pages dealt with the accident. That’s about 12%. 88% was irrelevant meant to intimidate, obfuscate, etc.

Sounds like that analysis would sway the argument in your direction:
for “example”: the state’s own deposition does not deal with the matter at hand to the proper and reasonably expected extent.

Only 12%??? They should be ashamed of themselves.

James, I think that part of the lingering controversy is about the fact the other t-shirt wearer was not handcuffed, arrested, fingerprinted, charged, etc. because her t-shirt supported the war.
Amelopsis, sounds good to me. My position is, the more truth that gets out, the better.

To my ignorant white Southern male eyes, that looks like a reason for some intrepid journalist to use the Freedom of Information Act to look at depositions taken in cases where the State of Vermont was the defendant for the past decade or so, and apply this lawyer’s algorithm to determine how much of a pattern this represents. It sound to me like a class-action lawsuit could be the means to change this heinous wrong into a positive change in the Northern Kingdom.

I love my country. I can’t abide my government.

Greetings Mudge, I like your idea, Class Action. I had not thought about that. I wish that the Associated Press Bureau in Vermont, or the Vermont Law School, or the members of the Press anywhere could see your comment. Maybe Youngfox and/or Amelopsis can use it. There is one tiny problem though, Sovereign Immunity. No one can sue the government unless the government gives them permission first. BUT, shining light on the truth could change EVERYTHING.

“I love my country but hate the government”. One of the last guys to publicly make that statement is now in prison. I found that Congressman from Ohio to be very interesting. Trafficant, maybe was his name.

I hope that you are having a good day today. How about your computer access? I have been worrying about you and your ability to stay hooked to the world and those who care about you. We need your warmth, wisdom, and moral clarity. It helps me and others, I am sure, to stay focused.

Hi Helga! Linksmanship is MZ’s long suit, and the Expendables in general should congratulate themselves on seining through the Web’s dross to bring the best back here for all to enjoy.

RMJ, I emailed you a suggestion for what next step seems logical to me. I think your lawyer pal should write up his/er observations about pages dedicated to relevant facts in lawyerese and bung ‘em off to the ACLU.

Sovereign immunity doesn’t apply if there is a pattern of abuse that can be linked to the State violating its own laws, or Federal laws. Your suit against the State moved forward because the State couldn’t prove they were innocent of wrongdoing.

If what I suspect to be true is true, that prosecutors demonstrated a pattern of intimidation and obfuscation in depositions relating to suits against the State, a case might be made that civil rights were routinely violated by this pattern of behavior.

Since I ain’t a lawyer, referring this to a lawyer seems like a good idea to me. The fact that prosecutors attempt to intimidate witnesses isn’t new or unusual. It’s the pattern that might bring the process to a halt...denial of due process, I would assume, since that pattern is designed to prevent people from exercising their right to rederess of wrongs.

Just my $0.02. And I think you praise me beyond my just desserts (see email on desserts) to ascribe to me “moral clarity.” It’s a lovely idea! I think it’s above and beyond.

Oh, I use my niece’s computer for now. I try to stay off it when it could be inconvenient to them, and I will hook up my old service again but now it’ll be next week. My nephew’s not the most organized person, and it’s taking him a little longer than is to my liking to get my stuff transfered to his place.

Ah Mudge it’s good to see you here again. It’s good to know that your situation is improving - even if not quite as quickly as would be preferred. I love your idea about getting the ACLU involved - details thus far do seem to indicate a pattern on the state’s part that could be considered abusive and which attempts to trample RMJ’s rights.

I certainly can’t take much credit on this web campaign, as it seems to have become.

Youngfox wrote the post,& sent out emails, and Michael commented everywhere like a madman; many Expendables posted too, and no small # of incoming links come from the Cool Observer!
I cross posted on blogs where I contribute and commented where I could and tried to leave a ‘thank you’ at all the blogs/sites who subsequently took us all up on our requests to spread the word on their blogspaces; but this has most undoubtedly been a group effort. If you’d not all helped to spread the word, this would never have spread as far and wide as it has (and continues to!)

The best part of this so far, is that so many people have expressed their solidarity with Rosemarie’s case, and their outrage at it. RMJ you cannot go through this now without many many people wanting to know the result of it. Eyes and ears - countless - are watching the state’s actions now.

Hi Empress! It’s good to be back, however sporadically.

ACLU will need to see a pattern before they get involved. A Law student who gets interested in the idea of a State violating its citizens’ rights would need to analyze the depositions made in suits against the State for a period of time, say a decade, and compare the percentage of relevant-vs-obfuscatory/intimadating information elicited by the State and the results of the suit to determine a pattern exists.

Anybody know what law schools turn out non-shark lawyers?

Thanks for the link, Empress, but I refuse to look at livejournal for any reason at any time. I’ll craft some sort of letter/post to share with all and sundry, after it recieves RMJ’s seal of approval, and see if we can’t get some law student somewhere interested in making this a cause.

I think that Mudge’s idea about getting the ACLU or a non-shark lawyer involved is great. Normal lawyers won’t help because they are motivated by money.
Also, have my Civil Rights been violated?
Also, have my constitutional rights been violated, what about provisions of the US Constitution and/or the Vermont State Constitution. Below is Article 4 of the Vt Constitution...////////
Art. 4th Every person within this state ought to find a certain rem-
edy, by having recourse to the laws, for all injuries or
wrongs which he may receive in his person, property or char-
acter; he ought to obtain right and justice, freely, and
without being obliged to purchase it; completely and without

Also, I have been thinking about an AMICUS CURIAE BRIEF (friend of the court). That is a document that is submitted to the Court by an uninvolved party. The purpose is to give the Court information that otherwise might not be available. The problem is finding the legal help to do it. The Law is on our side. The problem is that the people who administer the Law are not.

I was flamed on LiveJournal once, long ago, by an evil woman whose advances I’d scorned. She wrote many posts abouthow nasty I was, etc etc, and emailed links to my bosses, who questioned ME about sexual harassment.

I carry a grudge against the site. Irrational, I know, but I am just against ‘em. Period!

It’s funny. I’m a virtual neophyte when it comes to the Web but I’m slowly learning how rare this comment board is. I’ve tried to post to some major political sites the past two weeks and most of the reaction is snarky, cynical, and know-it-all. Then, of course, there are trolls everywhere. It seems to me that most people walk around so ready to dislike anything and everything. I must say, if it wasn’t for the Expendables, I’d have dismantled this blog a long time ago (or at least disabled the comment option).

And not one sould would blame you. The level of snarkiness out there in Webworld is shocking. Disgusting. Horrifying. And increasing.

The incivility of life isn’t stopping at the shores of the Web anymore. It was a small small moment of charmed sweetness, that few years in the early 1990s. But the Expendables, MZ, they are a self-selected set of supernice souls. It’s the self-selection that counts, IMHO. The Expendables are passionate about fairness and justice and other good things, good for others as well as themselves, and they hang here because they get good reinforcement for that quality.

And let’s not forget the First Rule of Party: The host’s ghost matters the most. It’s what you give that gets a posse of paragons to come on home time after time.

And trolls, well, it’s only a miracle that keeps me from living under a bridge.
