Are you an economic Marxist?

  1. Someone once told me “Charm will get you anywhere; well, almost anywhere.” I think it still makes a seven cent nickel for some.

    How’s the move going?

  2. Hi Amelopsis, you beat me to being first by a few minutes.  Yeah, MZ, how goes the move?

Empress dear, or should I say O Crusty Pottysprinkes, the Gulf of St. Lawrence thing from yesterday was disturbing.

CatLady will be in Central Park all day, so I expect we won’t hear from him soon.  I will be at WORK (!!) from about noon on.  Slow day yesterday, maybe again, though I hope not.

Perfect spring day today, high about 72F and sunshiney and breezy.  Love this!!

  3. Good morning Mudge, Amelopsis, and Mickey. It is still cold here but maybe I can put the snow shovel away soon.

Mickey, how’s Grandma Helen? And tell us how the move is going.

  4. Spring here too, finally threw away jackets for the year.

  5. Hi Mudge & RMJ

Going out to enjoy the beautiful day today, it’s sunny and pretty warm must be 6 Celcius or so.

So warm that there’s no ice from which to hunt seals, so they’re taking a break for a few days.  That, plus it seems there are no seals to find. Only seeing a few hundred where there should be herds with thousands of pups.

Which wolf will you feed? Which side will you “support”?

On a different note - any follow ups and reviews on the NERD recipes?  I think I might be making the asian root veg. stew today - I’ll let you know how it turns out.

  6. Hello Empress, Mudge, RMJ, and Owen. Grandma Helen is still in the hospital. Someone is making a mint giving CT Scans to a 94-year-old woman.

As for the move, it’s slowly but surely. After next weekend, I hope to spend more time here and can thus offer more details.

    I’ll see you all later.

  7. Thanks for the wishes about the Central Park thing Amelopsis and everyone-- didn’t someone say something once about fighting City Hall? Good luck at work, Mudge! See everyone later!

  8. Ok I just reviewed the ingredients and I will have to improvise a little.  I don’t know what the “result” will be, but I don’t know what else to do with the damned burdock I’ve purchased - so it will be some version of an asian stew.

  9. Burdock??? Is that the picky stuff that grows in my yard?

Posted by RMJ  on  from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/26  at  11:23 AM
  10. Geez I had a wordy answer and messed up my email address...here’s the short version:

Those velcro ball plants in your yard are common burdock - I’ve never seen a root on one of those that looks anything like this so I think it’s another species of the same plant Genus.  This looks like a lime with smooth skin (sort of)

  12. Mudge should have Engine 2’s “southern” boys over for dinner - they’d have to cook though.

I’m 1 daikon short of an asian stew....among a few other things. This is more like make it up as I go, but I’m still thinking that’s what’s on for tonight.

  13. There’s another book title, Empress: One Daikon Short.

  14. “Nothing” to add...I’m just signing off early tonight.

  15. Oh, oh, oh!  I am sooo upset!  This job is way too hard for me!  They want me to take calls where people tell me what kind of pizza they want and then offer the people all kinds of extra stuff, and it’s just sooo confuuusing!

    >snivel<

Seriously, took my first live order after two hours of training on their (really really lame) POS system.  Guess I made it through training....

One Daikon Short: Adventures of a Vegan Cook by Empress Amelopsis.  There’s a winning title!

James, I hope the cars swerved and aimed for the protestors only if you didn’t like the victim.

RMJ, burdock’s one of the tastier weirdo wild veggies.  Go yank some out of the warm, enfolding earth (thereby traumatizing the plant as it begins its extended death throes, murderess that you are) and see if it’s the kind with the root-ball like wild ones often are.  Great when peeled, sliced, soaked for a while in acidulated water, then sauteed in olive oil.  (What wouldn’t be good sauteed in olive oil?) I like cardoons, too, and there was a patch of salsify in the back yard when I moved in...sorta oystery.

MZ, hugs and pats to you and the beauteous Michele.
