"What Dick Cheney needs" ...and a lot more links to keep you busy
The melons are great, the skyscrapers less so: I’m just not a city person, and strictly low-rise.
For reasons known only to him, one of my friends once brought a melon to the pub. Guess which drunkard bellowed “Mmmm, lovely big juicy melons!” just as the very young and astonishingly busty barmaid walked past our table? I can be so uncouth sometimes.Posted by Mew on from olde londonne towne 03/29 at 06:00 AMUmm, just to clarify, I didn’t see the barmaid til after I’d bellowed…
Posted by Mew on from olde londonne towne 03/29 at 06:01 AMI certainly better be a city person who like skyscrapers or I’m in trouble. Thanks, it’s great to see that AFCP video link up there, Mickey and hope again the move goes smoothly. Not having any critters to pack up should help; being a CatLady did make my last 2 moves more challenging.
All this talk about tax time and money… this is what’s made the past few weeks so hectic, been working overtime at this latest job-- corporate accounting firm. It’s good for all the reparations I need to make to my landlord and credit card companies.... speaking of such things, a link from me now. Try to find the irony in this:

D U wanna read my own contribution to the reading material on DU? Please DU: http://tinyurl.com/ayzbg
That photo of Hong Kong looks like it was taken from the tram line up Victoria Peak (I think that’s the name of the mountain on Hong Kong island, anyhow). I was there, but it didn’t look quite like that. Same perspective, but it was very foggy. I could barely see the financial tower (the giant phallus), and only the bottom half was visible, as the top part was totally obscured by clouds. When I got to the top, George W. Bush was waiting for me at this clothing store: http://tinyurl.com/f467k
You can download the videos of CNN’s coverage of the Charlie Sheen episode here: http://www.question911.com/links.php. That’s how I found out about the episode, actually. (No TV - I’d never heard of that show, Two and a Half Men, or whatever it’s called).
So I was just a tinyurl.com for the above purposes, and I noticed their motto is “tiny is better!” I guess a “That’s what she said” would be in order?

Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/29 at 12:41 PMHi Everyone,
I’ve been busy pushing people off cliffs and trying to relax in the time between, so I’ve done little more than pop in here and read bits at a time.
Mickey - you’re a trooper for managing to keep this place going for all of us to enjoy while you’re moving and keeping it all together. The fact you’re not posting till Monday means I’ll be able to catch up with all I’ve missed - including today’s links so far.
All the best to you over the next few days, and I’ll see what I can do about having a transporter made available from the NUtI stockpile to make the move a little easier ;)
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 03/29 at 12:54 PMThanks for this ‘link-saturated’ post, Mickey - and happy moving! I hope everything goes well and smoothly.
A very warm ‘welcome’ to Mew, James, Jeremy and JOS - I have been away for a few days as I had to do some shopping in Melbourne, so it’s ‘catch-up’ time again. Here’s my link:

Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 03/29 at 02:29 PMSo are you moving within NYC or out of it, Mickey? Or should I just check the last 4 entries on this blog? Again, I hope everything goes really well for you and Michele - moving can be so upsetting sometimes and it always takes a lot of time, especially if one has got lots of books, as you no doubt do ..
captcha ‘learned’: best wishes to my learned friend Mickey Z. and his wife Michele!
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 03/29 at 02:41 PMHello Expendables. Thanks for the links...and the good wishes. Yes, Helga, we’re staying in NYC. Just 4-5 blocks away. Fortunately, we’ve got excellent weather for a moving weekend.
Gotta run…
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 03/29 at 03:55 PMGood luck with the move, Mickey. I wish Joe would step in here and get this place jumping over the next few days…
Here’s a link and excerpt on the obsurdity of the US governments claims of wanting a democracy in Iraq:
http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/article354245.ece
“Mr Bush has written to the Shi’ite leader Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, the head of the Shi’ite Alliance asking him to nominate somebody else for the post. “ The Americans are very firm about this,” said a senior official. “ They don’t want Jaafari at any price.”
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/29 at 05:15 PMthat’s absurdity, not Obsurdity...but you get what I’m trying to say.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/29 at 05:47 PMBoy, I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. 13 comments?
Anyway, I’ll be away from the computer but this comment board stays wide open.
G’night, all…
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 03/29 at 10:40 PMHey MZ and all Expendables. I have more work---creative, exciting, empowering work---than I have time at the moment so I don’t know how much of a presence I’ll be around here in the upcoming month or so. Music to write. Videos to make. Concerts to play. Bills to pay.
Here are a few video links to keep y’all busy, both worth it:
Disney vs. VD, 1973
Zappa vs. Censorship, 1986Posted by Keir on from The Hague 03/30 at 07:22 AMi´m moving this weekend also Mickey, though i´ll check in to say heya at intervals. Next month too shall be busy for me with writing, music and a studio we´re working on, though sure I´ll find opportunity for the odd screed or two.
thanks for the Zappa link Keir, I´ll watch it later. Worth it for that haircut alone.Posted by Owen on from Gyarrcelona 03/30 at 09:49 AMWow, everybody’s busy this month. I hope others come in to fill the void or I’ll just have to post a crapload of comments like I did yesterday…
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 09:57 AMsome good news:
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 10:17 AMWatched the Zappa clip, always a pleasure to hear him speak but why would he put himself through half an hour of humouring those reptiles?
Posted by Owen on from Gyarrcelona 03/30 at 11:54 AMHi JOS, Owen, and Keir...I’m glad that you are here today. We will have to keep the party going until the others come home. Here is a link for possible discussion.
http://www.erhetoric.net/rmj29.htmPosted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/30 at 11:54 AMRMJ, great subject. I have been following the story since we had our local march here in Chicago a while back. My aunt described a scene out of her office window where a huge crowd of people passed by her for several hours protesting new immigration laws. It must have been several hundred thousand people.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 12:07 PMI like this paragraph a lot:
“There also would be cultural benefits. The US population is deficient in language skills compared to other industrialized nations. This influx from the south could help the US become bi-lingual. Many in other countries speak three or four languages.”
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 12:09 PMThanks for taking the time to read it, JOS. My nephews and niece are growing up in Brazil. They are fluent in 4 languages...have been since they were little kids.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/30 at 12:16 PMThat is awesome. We need to change the way we approach language here in the US. Introduce different languages early...I lived in PR and am far from fluent in Spanish...though I learned a lot, I had to fight through some sort of mental block to learn what I did.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 12:20 PMhow great is this cover:
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 12:26 PMJOS, what you say is so true. There is a lot of scientific data about brain development and how language is learned. All of the data shows that languages should be taught very early, the earlier the better. We do things backward in this country by waiting, sometimes till high school.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/30 at 12:31 PMWith the Spanish-speaking population as the fastest growing minority in the US...and a growth potential that could possibly lead them toward equal standing with whites...we better start changing things soon.
This is one of those hot issues that could possibly see larger and larger occurences of backlash...from the media, the masses the government. I can smell the fear of change and with that fear comes racism and violence.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 12:50 PMGood to hear that you are going to stay in NYC - and only 4-5 blocks away, Mickey! And today IS the day, so best of luck with moving.
And I forgot to say ‘hi’ to Amelopsis when I commented yesterday - one forgets someone so often - sorry, Empress! ‘The fact you’re not posting till Monday means I’ll be able to catch up with all I’ve missed - including today’s links so far’ - same here, Amelopsis.
Lastly, a warm ‘welcome’ to JOS, Keir, Owen and Rosemarie. May your shadow fall on pleasant places today.
Bye for now.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 03/30 at 02:13 PMThanks, Helga.
Guess what everybody, the Pentagon has completed its investigation of itself concerning planting positive US occupation stories and the results were a huge surprise.:
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 03:00 PMSorry, one more...Justice Scalia’s answer to his critics:
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/30 at 03:47 PM1:30am. Couldn’t settle down to some late-night composing without checking in. Greetings all. JOS, no more up-close photos of bloated assholes, exclusive or otherwise…
Rosemarie, your brief article (#20) is one of the most intelligent and well articulated positions I have come across in a long time. Spot on. I love it because it resonates far beyond the issue. It has much to do with life here in Europe, easily connects many issues that everyone can understand, and even relates to problems my girlfriend and I face at the moment. If I have a moment to update my blog I will link prominently to your article.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague 03/30 at 06:48 PMThank you, Keir. Your kind words are very encouraging. I could not remain silent on the issue especially after hearing so many in the US bad-mouthing the Mexicans on talk radio. It is bad enough when the O’rielly’s and Limbaughs say things like that but when it comes from ordinary people, it is somehow worse. Racism and classism are definately on the rise in this country. Things are getting pretty ugly here. The lack of humanity in all aspects of life in the US is mind boggling.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/30 at 07:06 PMHere’s an excellent plan to force a real investigation into 9/11 (headed by Kurt Nimmo, I believe):
http://www.tvnewslies.org/html/9_11_truth_calling_oprah.html
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 03/31 at 10:15 AMJOS...That is a good suggestion. Oprah should do less trivia and a lot more serious programming. I think that that only thing that counts is the ratings. The USA has been dumbed down because of the media. Here is a link to one of my old ones about Oprah.
http://tinyurl.com/j5kkkToday is the birthday of Ceasar Chavez. I wish I had a Mexican flag to fly.

JOS...Thank you. I am inspired!
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/31 at 05:09 PMI have received some e-mails about my article in support of the Mexicans and others. Many in the USA that I have heard from seem to have NO understanding about USA interventions in other countries. I know that all of those here at Mickey’s already have this information but I will post the link that I will be sending to some of those who have e-mailed me.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/31 at 06:08 PMFeliz cumpleaños Cesar querido. Le recordaremos siempre en solidaridad.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 03/31 at 06:50 PMThe editorial to get Oprah Winfrey involved in giving a forum to the 9/11 Truth community is the work of Jesse, the editor at TvNewsLIES.org
Kurt has been kind enough to post the editorial on a number of sites as well as his own, but he is not behind the movement. This is the original idea of the TvNewsLIES editor who has been working to get teh truth about 9/11 on the corporate media for more than three years.
