Are these the missing links?
Good Morning Alll...About last night on FOX. It was NOT as advertised. It was supposed to be a debate between Churchill and Horowitz. Those who watched know that did not happen on FOX. Instead it was an interrogation by Hannity. Hannnity is very skilled at avoiding logic and real conversation. He does a better job of obfuscating the facts than anyone else I know.
About antibiotics. Yes, I think that they are overused and doing harm. I almost never have used them, except once. My life was saved by sulfa drugs when I was 15 years old. I had walked around with ruptured appendix for a few days.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 04/07 at 07:33 AMI´ve seen about five minutes of Fox News in my lifetime and it felt like masochism putting myself through it. Nothing on Fox is as advertised, that´s the point of military news outlets - what it would be it wouldn´t and what it wouldn´t be it would, you see? If you really want to know what these guys are up to, try inverting the news headlines - if they say “it has not yet been decided that...” that means it has been decided, if they say “war is not inevitable,” that means they´re ploughing troops over there. When people watch teevee they put themselves through thousands of hours of occult language but barely anybody can speak it. (I moved into my new place and there was a teevee with a fair bit of dust on it so I threw it out, it was mighty therapeutic.)
About the Reasons link (thanks M, they´re fun today) and its mention of tattletales, I taught in an academy last year (never again) and came to the conclusion that what kids primarily learned in school was how to act like a fink around everybody except authority figures.
Posted by owen on from gyarrcelona 04/07 at 07:51 AMLOVE the Wikocracy link, MZ!
Been working two jobs, and 12+ hours/day. The second job ended so I slept all day yesterday to celebrate. Back to taking pizza orders only until a new gig comes along.
Am staying on with nephew and roomie since I can now pay 1/3 of the rent and the bills. >whew<
I’m not even going to pretend I’ll be catching up on what’s been going on. Hope all are well!
Hi RMJ, cheers Owen, missed y’all all!
Posted by Mudge on from Austin 04/07 at 10:05 AMHi Owen.
Mudge, everyone has been missing you. Get some more rest but spend all of your waking hours with us.Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 04/07 at 10:18 AMAll right, Mudge! Great to hear about the living situation.
Great links, Mick.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 04/07 at 11:49 AMI refuse to take antibiotics myself. Here’s my links:

http://tinyurl.com/fb9sdPosted by Jeremy on from Taiwan 04/07 at 01:56 PMThanks, Mickey - for all those ‘missing links’. One of them brings to mind the ‘Bulworth’ obscenity rap:
‘The rich is getting richer and richer and richer
while the middle class is getting more poor
just making billions and billions of bucks
well, my friend, if you weren’t already rich at the start
that situation sucks because the richest motherfucker in five of us
is getting 90 fucking 8 percent of it
and every other motherfucker in the world is left to wonder
why the #### we went with it.
Obscenity?’
Sorry about the language.A warm ‘welcome’ to Rosemarie, Owen, Mudge (back at last!), JOS and Jeremy - I hope you all have a good weeekend.
Ciao ..Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 04/07 at 02:52 PMAnd Mudge, I definitely missed you! Soo good to see you back at this blog.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 04/07 at 02:54 PMLove that rap, Helga.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 04/07 at 03:11 PMAH, may be some tiny cracks starting to appear in the Empire. Drudge reporting San Francisco mayor says he will not comply with Immigration legislation if passed. Massive obedience to a higher authority, that is just what is needed now.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 04/07 at 03:56 PMHey look, CounterPunch isn’t so bad, they had an interview with William Blum the other day:
http://www.counterpunch.org/corseri04042006.htmlSome of it redundant with other interviews, but no the whole thing.
Mudge! Hoo-ray! ...but why does it seem that when one of us has a job, the other is unemployed?
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 04/07 at 04:00 PMThanks, James. That interview with Blum is great. I hope everyone gets to read it. Also, Mickey has a good one at PressAction.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 04/07 at 04:22 PMIt’s fantastic to check in and see Helga swearing like that.
Cheers for the diversions Mickey and greetings to all Expendables, working, lurking, or otherwise. Here’s my link. I guess Owen in particular will like.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague 04/07 at 05:40 PMHello Expendables...and a hearty welcome to Mudge. Thanks for all the great comments and links. I hope to peruse them slowly and return later to say something useful.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 04/07 at 06:36 PMA quick note about that Blum interview. He famously talks about what he’d do in the first 4 days if he were elected president: “The first day, I’ll apologize-publicly and sincerely-to all the widows and orphans, the impoverished and the tortured, to all the many millions of other victims of American imperialism. I would announce to the world that America’s global military interventions have come to an end The second day, I would tell Israel that it is no longer the 51st state, but, oddly enough, a foreign country ... On the third day I would reduce the military budget by at least 90% and use the savings to pay reparations to the victims and repair the damage from the many American bombings, invasions and sanctions. There would be more than enough money. One year’s US military budget is equal to more than $20,000 per hour for every hour since Jesus was born. On the fourth day, I’d be assassinated.”
Great stuff...but so little (if anything) is ever said about the reality that Blum would be assassinated if he attempted to run the U.S. in such a fashion. In other words, guiding America by the principles it claims to worship is suicidal.
I’m signing off for now but I might use this topic as a future post. I’m curious what others think.
