The "war on terror" scheme crosses party lines
Good mornin’....Mickey, I linked on to the site with the Chomsky comments and I posted the following there...................
I agree with much of Chomsky’s view as expressed here but would question why he and so many others exonerate the citizens, the bomb makers, the arms dealers, the financiers, the taxpayers, and all others who play a part in illegal wars. The war in Iraq could not have gone forward if more US citizens had opposed it. The call for Impeachment trivializes the crimes. Where is the demand for war crimes trials? The war continues because the US citizens are not offering enough resistance and therefore the citizens must be held accountable.Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/12 at 08:17 AMGood morning to you, Rosemarie. It’s perfect that you should mention the call for impeachment. I just got a review copy of a book called The Case for Impeachment and I’ll be writing about it very soon.
I’m off to the dentist on this soggy Friday morning. I’ll check back here later.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/12 at 08:26 AMGood luck at the dentist’s, Mickey. I need luck too. I’m off to a lawyer now. I have a lot of thoughts about Impeachment and can’t wait to read what you say.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/12 at 08:53 AMHmm...what do we dread more? A trip to the dentist or an appt. with a lawyer?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/12 at 08:57 AMIn my stereo at moment is 10,000 Days by Tool came out last week. They spend a lot of time letting each record percolate, about 5 years in between each one. All of their records sound the same but more evolved, difference on this one is the lyrics are less cryptic than on previous ones, the last was in summer 2001. I feel quite healed listening to these fellers. This song is the one that grabs me currently, called The Pot.
Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your head
Eye hole deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the deadRob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass so
Don’t go tossin’ your stones aroundYou must have been high
You must have been high
You must have beenFoot in mouth and head up ass
So what you talkin’ ‘bout?
Difficult to dance ‘round this one
‘til you pull it out, boyYou must have been so high
You must have been so highSteal, borrow, reap or save your shady inference
Kangaroo done hung the juror with the innocentNow you’re weeping shades of chosen indigo
got lemon juice up in your eyeWhen you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been high, high
You must have been high, highWho are you to wave your finger?
So full of it
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Fuckin’ hypocriteLiar, lawyer—mirror show me
What’s the difference?
Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocentNOW
you’re weeping shades of chosen indigo
got lemon juice up in your high
EYE
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You musta beenSo who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me?
You must have been out your mindWeeping shades of indigo
shed without a reason
weeeping shades of indigoLiar, lawyer, mirror
For you what’s the difference
Kangaroo be stoned
He’s guilty as the governmentNOW
you weeping shades of chosen indigo
get lemon juice up in your eye
Now when you pissed all over my black kettle
You musta been high, high, high, high
Eyeballs deep in bloody waters
Elbows deep in muddy watersYou must have been out your mind
Posted by owen on from barcelona 05/12 at 12:08 PMGood Morning from Daylesford, Australia, as well, Mickey - and thank you for another enlightening post! Love that quote - now I’ll read the whole interview.
‘Hi’ to Rosemarie and Owen - where are all the others?
Have a great Mother’s Day weekend!
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/12 at 01:37 PMAnd I hope that visit to the dentist’s went well, Mickey - I haven’t been for years and years. Am a real coward when it comes to dentists ..
‘The war in Iraq could not have gone forward if more US citizens had opposed it.’ I’m not so sure about that, Rosemarie - BushCo. really wanted that war and they are almost certainly planning more wars while we speak. Weren’t all those Americans who took to the streets on 15 February 2003 to protest against the upcoming war on Iraq dismissed as ‘focus groups’ by your Prez?
Peace ..
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/12 at 01:43 PMHi Owen and Mickey. I don’t know which is a more painful experience - a meeting with a dentist or a meeting with a lawyer. One of my unforgettable dentist experiences was the time that a dentist could not numb a tooth but then proceeded with root canals, 3 of them because it was a molar with 3 roots.
Helga, do you really think the war would have gone forward if GWB and company had to finance, design, manufacture, and personally deliver all of the weapons of war? I am not suggesting that protests could have prevented it. I agree with you that they are not effective. Other actions by the citizenry could have prevented the war.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/12 at 04:48 PMHello again, Expendables. I’m planning to post this video on Monday but thought I’d offer a peek now:

Posted by Jeremy on from Taiwan 05/12 at 09:22 PMThanks, Jeremy. Now I just need Vox Pop to release it. The book is already a year behind schedule.
Ah, the indie life…
