Mom's the word
sorry to be off topic but i am the bearer of good tidings. it looks like rove is being charged…
Posted by michael on from exile 05/14 at 07:32 AMHellos to all....Hi michael and Mickey. Happy Mothers Day to everyone, yes, especially those who are smart enough to know that they don’t want to be mothers, if they don’t.
Greg Palast is on C-span right now. He is doing a great job debating the other guest, Emmitt Tyrrell, and also the callers.
How’s the knee today, Mudge. About last night’s comment....my frustration with those who blame the “government” is because that seems to remove the responsibility from us as individuals. I agree that the government is the people and that is exactly why I advocate personal responsibility. The forum that I attended yesterday seemed to give the message the we are OK, just blame the other guy (the government). That is counter-productive, it seems to me.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/14 at 07:46 AMHello Michael, RMJ, and everyone else. Good to see Rove indicted but the shame will be when the Left celebrates like it’s the be-all and end-all. See my impeachment article tomorrow for more on that concept.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/14 at 01:29 PMHelga, from last night: Greetings to you, gnadige Frau, and a hearty handshake! I don’t love all of Mr. White’s books, but Forgetting Elena and Nocturnes for the King of Naples thrilled me as an impressionable 20something. Line-for-line, White can create some gorgeous images. Add it all up, and I for one just don’t get as far as I think I should. A matter of taste only. White’s work will be remembered for its huge successes. I liked this passage in the review whose link you supplied:
White’s two biggest influences are Christopher Isherwood - “because of his enormous sincerity and simplicity”; Isherwood’s 1964 novel, A Single Man, is a “total masterpiece and really the beginning of modern gay literature” - and Vladimir Nabokov, because of “the beautiful writing and the way he was able to balance pyrotechnical style with intensity of feeling, because usually one of those cancels out the other”.
Two of my most favoritest writer-men! I’ve even made Nabokov an honorary queen...he can’t be that good and be straight.
Owen, from last night: Good story, though sleeping on people’s folded laundry wouldn’t rank as one of my fave rave things to happen to MY laundry.
RMJ, knee’s okay today, though all of me’s reacting to an incoming line of thunderstorms. Weather impacts me more and more the older I grow, has this become true for you now that you’re in your thirties?
Mickey, another wonderful day! I’ve got to schedule more time here...I dry up and blow away when I’m too long away from here, and you.

Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/14 at 05:38 PMMudge, you wouldn´t have wanted to wash them there in the first place.
Mickey, a lootable ashtray is one with things still smokeable hiding in it.
Posted by owen on from barcelona 05/14 at 05:48 PMThanks, Owen. Sort of like nicotine-inspired dumpster diving.
