Bubba and Dubya...joined at the hip
Did anyone ever seriously think Clinton was a liberal? Back in the 60s, he’d’ve been a Rockefeller Republican.
Owen, what a beautiful mandala from Portland’s mean-to-bicyclists streets. A friend of mine urges me to come there so she can “look after” me. Things like that make me think I should go.
Big Country, depressing stuf about Ward Churchill.
RMJ, I have it! Pack up and move to Denver’s environs, thence to lead protests and support rallies for Churchill! Warmer & cheaper than Vermont! Summers in the spectacular Rockies, winters here in warm Austin, a mere two-day drive to and from.
Helga, Daylesford looks so lovely. I know they’re fortunate to have you and Mr. Helga there boosting them. I’d never heard of the place and now I actually want to go.
MZ, wouldn’t Tupac wallpaper indicate your fandom? Why not? We should start calling you “Six-pack Zezima.” Just please don’t expect me to listen to your raps. I hate rap. It makes my eyes bleed.
Captcha="straight!!" How DARE this thing insult me!!
Posted by Mudge on from Austin 05/17 at 07:46 AMYo Mudge…
I’m not much of a hip-hop fan or expert, but I do like Tupac. Mostly, I’m old school: Public Enemy, Ice T, Big Daddy Kane, etc.
Btw, here’s Ward Churchill’s response to the investigation (sic).
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/17 at 09:38 AMAmazing picture, Helga.
I am amazed that Churchill has gone this long without something like this happening.
Mick, how about KRS-1?
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 05/17 at 10:22 AMDamn, how could forget to mention KRS-1? Thanks, Commando.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/17 at 10:37 AMHey all,
Catsitting for my sister tonight, she’s joined the ranks of the Cat Ladies on her 30th. He’s an affection-fiend longhair thats terrified of this big smelly male in the house. Not so bad though, watching the European Cup final anyhow. He’s hacking like a 40-a-day beagle though, kennel-cough I spose, don’t die on my watch dammit!Uncle Joe from yesterday, you can have as many points as you wish. Just post more than once a month. And that thing hitting the pentagon in the CNN video looks suspiciously un737-like.
Posted by Mew on from sister's Mac 05/17 at 02:31 PMOK, its on the Yahoo front page, but this just made me feel small.
To get on-topic, my unsubmitted entry for the caption comp ages ago was “Two Headed Sex Beast Rekindles Bipartisan Spirit”.Posted by Mew on from sister's Mac 05/17 at 02:48 PMCheers, Mickey - thanks for posting the photo. Mr Helga is not bad as a photographer is he?
And Mudge, you can see more of Daylesford here:
http://www.travelvictoria.com.au/daylesford/
If you ever come down under, please do not hesitate to contact us - you can even call in! The same goes for JOS and Mew of course - it is good to be part of the expendables family.I don’t quite agree that Bubba and Dubya are equally bad but have to admit that there does not seem to be that much difference between them. Can’t shake the ‘lesser evil’ mindset off.
Ciao amici
Captcha: ‘morning’ - it is very early morning - 5:50 am on a Thursday.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/17 at 02:50 PMNeedless to say: if you ever come to Australia, Mickey, please contact us. Daylesford is only 45 minutes from Melbourne Airport, so people can be picked up easily.
And that really is sad news regarding Ward Churchill.
And Mudge, what do you think of Edmund White? Someone once called him the ‘best-known gay writer in the world.’ He will be in Australia from 22 to 27 May and will read at a bookstore in Melbourne on 23 May, where I hope to meet him and chat with him.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/17 at 02:58 PMHelga, I will never be able to afford to go to Australia, if we were living in Victorian times all I’d have to do would be steal a loaf of bread to feed me starvin’ chill’n guvnor, alas these days Australia is somewhere people want to go and therefore have to pay for.
Like our resident pants-less JOS, I’m amazed Churchill has lasted this long, though I guess you can’t make it tooo obvious. Just long enough to stop the true-believers heads exploding from cognitive dissonance.
Posted by Mew on from sister's Mac 05/17 at 03:07 PMI quoted Bill Murray (Stripes) here once before, but Mew has inspired me to do so again:
“Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it is usually something unusual.”
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 05/17 at 03:26 PMOh joy.

Do the Dems make such a show of being corporate patsies? Here’s billions of pounds for what is basically an energy sink not an energy producer, and, oh, we don’t know what to do with the waste except stick it down a deep hole.Posted by Mew on from sister's Mac 05/17 at 03:45 PMHi Everyone....I have been away all day and am just trying to catch up. I had an interesting day in Massachusetts and on my way home I saw a big moose in a field on the side of the road.
Also I received an interesting e-mail from my sister who lives in Sao Paulo. She said that the “riots” that have been occuring there are directed at the courts and police. The protesters have planned things well and before they set fire to any buses they first evacuate all of the passengers.
Mickey, thanks for the link to the Churchill response.
Mudge, Hummmm, a move to Denver sounds good.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/17 at 04:41 PMRosemarie, I has the gross misfortune to see part of the House of Lords debate on South America a week or so ago.
Haven’t looked into the riots, but they may have been one of the reasons the (Newest of New) Labour Peer who spoke favoured Brazilian and Chilean ‘European style social democracy’ over silly overhyped leftist nonsense like in Venezuela or Bolivia. We brave, happy few were also treated to a Tory Peer praising the ‘democratic shift’ in that continent. Its Alice in Wonderland stuff over here I tell youse - if you only look mirror-deep.Posted by Mew on from sister's Mac 05/17 at 05:09 PMI saw the Pentagon video and am convinced Flight 77 was hiding behind one of those traffic cones. Slippery devils them Ayrabs.
Posted by owen on from barcelona 05/17 at 05:40 PMDavid Lane, lawyer for Churchill, is making the comparison of the persecution of WC to the persecution of Gallileo. Seems like a good strategy to me. If there is a trial, it will be an opportunity to get the facts out in the public about USA foreign policy.
Hi Mew...there is a lot of Alice in Wonderland over here too. “...The time has come the Walrus said to speak of many things....of shoes and ships and sealing wax and cabbages and kings, of why the sea is boiling hot and whether pigs have wings...” (I don’t know why those phrases sneak up on me so often.)
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/17 at 07:45 PMHelga, I don’t like White’s work much. I liked the first two books but after that felt there was just so much yip-yap-yop, pretty lines building...what exactly?
RMJ, think on it...Nederland is gorgeous. So is Pagosa Springs down in the southern Colorado.
Mew, I see my whammy on all things felidaceous is working at last >moohaahaaaaaa<
Big Country, what the hell does this mean: “Mick, how about KRS-1?”
Owen, flight 77 was using its cloaking device, supplied by those interfering Romulans. Live long and prosper, Comrade Kilfeather!
Mickey...well, what the hell.
Posted by Mudge on from Austin 05/17 at 08:24 PMWhat the hell, indeed. Thanks for another great day on the board, Expendables.
