We are experiencing technical difficulties
ON THE BEACH !!! It must have been beautiful. Congratulations and hugs to both of you.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/19 at 07:10 AMMany happy returns of the day, MZ-squared. I’m so happy >teeth gritted< y’all have found your matches. No, really I am.
>bilious green belch<
Good morning, RMJ!
Posted by Mudge on from Austin 05/19 at 09:11 AMYep, congratulations to you & Michele. Hope you have a great day!
Posted by Chris Wood on from Manchester, odd wet lovely Manchester 05/19 at 09:42 AMThanks, all. Your sincerity is inspiring, Mudge.
RMJ: It actually rained on our wedding day but that made it more interesting. We have tons of photos of our family holding umbrellas over Michele, myself, and the justice of the peace.
Anyway, it’s raining today again. We’re headed out now to have some fun...and I don’t have time to fix whatever ails my eMac. However, maybe someone out there can help. Here’s the deal:
When I went to the page where I create my blog post for the day, I clicked on “find file” as always to upload images. Twice, this gave me the infamous spinning ball for a LONG time. I tried to force-quit Safari and it didn’t respond so I had to force-restart. The whole process took forever. Very slow responses.
Then I went to Entourage to send out an article but when I clicked on “add attachments,” the same thing happened. Spinning ball of death, no response to force-quit, and this time, the computer wouldn’t restart so I had to manually shut it down.
Overall, I think the computer is acting a little sluggish but nothing I would’ve mentioned had the above events not happened.
Any thoughts?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/19 at 11:01 AMMickey, for starters: backup your work! Then, try not to think about it until tomorrow, and enjoy today. Computer-free days rule!
Posted by Keir on from The Hague 05/19 at 11:07 AMCongrats to you and Michele, Mickey!
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 05/19 at 11:25 AMCongrats from me too, Michele and Mickey! I second the advice to back up your work and I emailed some troubleshooting tips. You’ll need a good firewire drive. I’ll look around and email you on that too.
Posted by J. Alva Scruggs on from 05/19 at 02:07 PMsuperb. congratulations
(my captcha is ‘support’ - mickey, sometimes i think you are the evil intonation behind this captcha thing)
here is a scottish lovesong, make from it what you will. as i previously intimated to mickey, a very deep sarchasm passes for natural scottish discourse
“there are things I want to do but I don’t know
If they will be with you, if they will be with you
There are things I want to say but I don’t know
If they will be to you, if they will be to youListen ever get a feeling
When you’re taken by the hand
And then of course you can
Come out
Went to bed but I’m not ready
Baby I’ve been fucked already
Falling into line but I’m doing nothing
We’ve got nothing worth discussing.
Went to go but it’s all hazy
People say I’m going crazy.(Repeat all above)
(Bridge)
All I know is all I know
What I’ve done I leave behind and
I don’t know what sort to find me.
All I know is all I know
What I’ve done I leave behind and
I don’t know what sort to find me.
All I know is all I know
What I’ve done I leave behind and
I don’t know what sort to find me.Posted by michael on from exile 05/19 at 03:28 PMHappy 12th wedding anniversary, Mickey and Michele! Celebrate in style!
Re those technical difficulties: I have been experiencing email difficulties for the last 24 hours or so - have to get on to our provider.
Hi, Rosemarie, Mudge, Chris Wood, Keir, JOS, J. Alva Scruggs and Michael. Have a good weekend, all of you!
Oh, and my computer has been very slow generally in the last few days or so, so it may be a worldwide problem, Mickey.
Captcha ‘expected’ as in: computer problems are to be expected every now and then.Ciao amici,
HelgaPosted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/19 at 03:51 PMThank you, one and all. What a great collection of good wishes...Expendable style. Much appreciated.
Also, thanks for the computer help (got your e-mail, Mr. Scruggs). I’m taking Keir’s advice and not dealing with it today. But I will note that I regularly back up all my work on flash drives.
Here’s an anniversary haiku I just came up with:
Dozen years ago
Rain fell lightly at the beach
Vows under the dropsPosted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/19 at 04:02 PMMickey, a perfect way to celebrate belatedly tomorrow: http://www.revelocitynyc.com/intro.html
Looks like fun, and it benefits cyclists’ legal issues. Dear to my heart as a former jailbird.
Mudge, from yesterday. Seriously, got to the back of the class, young man. Capote said that about Kerouac, not Hemingway.
Had to catch you on something…
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 05/19 at 04:32 PMAH...what poetry, Mickey. When will you post a wedding photo for all to see?
Mudge...I should have known that one who has achieved such a high degree of culture would be a fellow Garner fan. I also share your appreciation for Lady Day, and of course, Ella....and Dave Brubeck and George Shearing.
Hi Chris, JOS, Helga, michael, J Alva Scruggs, and anyone I missed. My ISP was down last night. Must be something happening here. What it is ain’t entirely clear…
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/19 at 04:39 PMHi James....we were simultyping.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/19 at 04:40 PMHi… too bad there couldn’t be a party held for your legal concerns as there are for bicyclists at that thing tomorrow. Best wishes!
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 05/19 at 05:28 PMHey Mickey and all, happy anniversary to the Z’s.
Posted by Mew on from sister's Mac 05/19 at 06:06 PMHello all. Thanks again from the kind wishes.
I broke my promise and tried to fix the computer. I just got off the phone with Apple Care. They wanted me to restart off the installer disk but guess what? I can’t find mine. So, they’re mailing me a new one and then I’ll call back. It’ll be fixed next week so I’ll try to make posts here using images I’ve previously used. This way I won’t have to try any uploads.
Oh well...thanks again to all the Expendables.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/19 at 07:45 PMCatLady #11: I blush, I cover myself in rue, I gnash my dentures...I checked my facts not, and I suffered. You GOT me. But I still love you, because you called me “young.”
RMJ #12: One day I aim to collect every extant recording put out by Verve. Unbelievably good label. Awe-inspiring, in today’s Gawdawful musical dinge.
Michael #8: GREAT lyrics! I think the Scots have something no other folk could manage...perspective. The whole caboodle of youse.
Helga #9, and computer issues generally: My job in the call center was HELL today (just got back from there, if that tells you anything) because of some verschmeckled system glitch.
MZ, I am hurt you would think my delight >burp< in your effortlessly, perfectly happy wedded bliss >gnash< is other than deeply, heart-feltly sincere. >burp<
