A conversation in 17 syllables
Thanks for putting the amnesty link on Mickey. Had come on here to plug it and it was already there. Great job! Its a bank holiday (working day off for many) in the UK today. Hello to everyone!
Posted by Uncle Joe on from 10 miles away from Mews snugglehouse 05/29 at 07:36 AMHey Expendables all, I had a fun but tiring day getting sunburned yesterday, enjoyed the conversation here when I got home but was too worn out to type anything.
Always enjoy the haiku here, run out myself for now with new ones… odd, after all the talk of Norse goddesses lately, one of my dad’s sisters is in town today, and we’ll be having lunch with my mom at Zen Palate soon.
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 05/29 at 11:30 AMThanks for your haiku, Mickey - and, as always, for the great graphics and everything else on your site.
Not a haiku but a great quote from a beautiful film, ‘Y Tu Mama Tambien’:
‘Life is like the surf, so give yourself away like the sea.’And a warm welcome from a cold Daylesford to Uncle Joe and James. Have a good Memorial Day.
Ciao ..
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/29 at 02:16 PMJ’aime beaucoup les Haiku - have to check the bendito later but it looks compelling.
Was my comment yesterday ‘NY’ because I alluded to a dislike of my neighbour? If so, I’m all full of NY sentiment pretty much all the time - with everyone.
People are ok sometimes I guess. Generally I have an antisocial attitude until I get to feeling chatty.
Great Amnesty link - will try to make blog time (which I’ve been neglecting) to raise awareness.
Hi to Every Expendable!
Posted by Amelopsis on from Hades (canamerica) 05/29 at 03:12 PMHello Expendables (and Uncle Joe should now consider himself an Expendable, I’d say). James, Helga, Empress, and those cvhoosing not to make their presence known.
Empress: Your comment was NY based on its target and its venom. Good stuff.
Funny, I was planning to run the haiku yesterday but I thought today would be busier here. Shows you how much I know.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/29 at 04:59 PMMickey that first haiku of yours over at Counterpunch is brilliant.
Crossed paths with a nice little quote today (speaking of film, Helga):
“We need thought, like film needs light. To give clarity and definition.”
--Sergei M. EisensteinPosted by Keir on from The Hague 05/29 at 05:31 PMThe lunch special at the fancy section at Zen Palate was great, and talking to my aunt that much almost convinced me-- time to move to Denmark. Really. Now off to see X-Men with a friend. If anyone wants me to spoil the ending, who dies and whatnot, I’d be happy to.
maybe tonight I’ll reprint some of my old haiku here, but I’d have to dig for them.
“later”
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 05/29 at 05:36 PMHey everyone. I saw X-Men today too, pretty good, stay to the end of the credits if you see it.
Posted by Mew on from mew's snugglehouse 05/29 at 07:16 PMI’m waiting for Z Man.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/29 at 07:36 PMSure, we’re all waiting for Z-Man, but some patriotic citizens are curious: just what are his bizaare mutant powers? And is he friend...or foe!?!
Oh, and of course there’s this, which hardened Goon fan though I am I’ve resolved never to watch.
Posted by Mew on from mew's snugglehouse 05/29 at 07:59 PMRight back at ya, Mew:

And who could forget this classic. I’ve got to go to Japan, they’ll either love me or slay me as a manga demon.Posted by Mew on from mew's snugglehouse 05/29 at 08:37 PMThere truly is something mew under the sun.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/29 at 08:39 PMIt’s late over here, gotta catch me some z’s.

Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/31 at 09:19 AM“Haditha” in particular is powerful stuff. Read that and went “woooah”.
Posted by mew on from great street of portland stone 05/31 at 09:35 AMThank you so much Mickey and Mew....I wish there were other subjects to fill a poet’s mind; like passion and beauty rather than war and death. One day we can all write lovely things.
Namaste,
Tina Louise
