A good day to talk about Puerto Rico
That was always a good one about Puerto Rico… man, am I a bad person for thinking that the parade could make it harder to get to work today? And hey, there could be a street fair elsewhere today, and those are always good for finding deals on clothes. Speaking of work, as per out discussion about it the other day, I just found this one… I mean these places I proofread or word process in or type in aren’t exactly Greenpeace:
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 06/11 at 07:06 AMGood morning, James. I like your graphic....very timely. Ethics and Capitalism, I guess that those 2 concepts are as opposite to each other as anyone can imagine.
Mickey....great article today. I notice that you close it with, “by all means available”. Reminds me of Churchill.......
TV alert tonight at 8 and a rebroadcast later.

Chalmers JohnsonPosted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 06/11 at 07:20 AMCatLady, from last night: For heaven’s sake, clothe your nakedness and quit obsessing over this! MZ is right...this is rearranging deck-chairs on the Titanic and your so-far-victorious rival RMJ is here with the solution: Buy cheap, spend the savings on the important stuff.
Now go obsess over your book. >smooch<
Hello all, a little spousal abuse then off to another finally-fascinating day at the office.
xoxo (captcha is “love” I do not lie!)
Posted by Mudge on from Austin, Texas 06/11 at 08:19 AMBy spousal abuse, you’re referring to me? But yeah, I’m okay about the clothes thing for now. Now if only I didn’t have this 24hr/day, 7 day per week work schedule… but I promise to learn to get personal writing done on company time.
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 06/11 at 08:45 AMBuenos dias, amigos...in keeping with the Spanish theme:
“Revolution is not the uprising against preexisting order, but the setting up of a new order contradictory to the traditional one.”
Jose Ortega y GassetPosted by JOS on from Chicago 06/11 at 09:34 AMhi everyone! fundraiser huh? Shouldn’t you offer e a coffee mug or something for anyone who makes a donation?

Posted by TM on from 06/11 at 02:04 PMHola Expendables. Just returned from a week in Istanbul. Fantastic place. Miss me?
TM: nice find, especially this…
“I believe this was not an act of desperation, but an act of asymmetrical warfare waged against us.”
...said the camp commander about three prisoners who killed themselves. Holy shit.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague 06/11 at 02:54 PMHello Expendables...and welcome back, Keir.
TM: How about a Mickey Z. toaster?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 06/11 at 04:38 PMThanks for setting the record straight yet again, Mickey!
And ‘hi’ to James, Rosemarie, Mudge, JOS, TM and Keir.Another cold day has just dawned in Daylesford.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 06/11 at 04:39 PMHey there, Helga. It’s a warm, sunny day here in Astoria. Windy, too.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 06/11 at 04:41 PMRosemarie,
I LOVE Chalmers Johnson - the most articulate critic of the military-industrial complex IMHO>Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 06/11 at 05:01 PMHelga...DOUBLE HEADER TONIGHT ON C-SPAN
8 PM Chalmers Johnson c-span
10PM Howard Zinn c-span 2Keir...Yes, asymmetrical warfare, amazing statement.
TM, JOS, James, Mudge, Hi.Mickey you were with VFP, Chapter 88, in spirit today. I just got home from the VFP mtg. I used the WC statement that you posted yesterday as an agenda item. The last sentence brought quite a passionate discussion...the part about protecting “by any means available”. Some VFP are total pacifists. After the heated discussion it was agreed by consensus to publicly support and endorse that statement, including the last sentence. That is a bit of an accomplishment for a bunch of veterans. Today was a very good debating day for me.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 06/11 at 06:12 PMBravo, RMJ. You never cease to amaze me. I hope you’ll write an article about this.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 06/11 at 06:36 PMCatLady #4: “By spousal abuse, you’re referring to me?” And who else, o husband? >snicker< Hey everybody, watch the panicked straight boy run! >chortle<
Keir, Istanbul is on my life’s list of places I want to visit...was it a fascinating, fabulous, fun, fez-filled kind of a time?
RMJ #12: “Today was a very good debating day for me.” It’s a wonder to me they even bother opposing you. Well done indeed!
Hi Helga, may I please ship you some heat? It was 104F on my back porch today. Ew.
Big Country, I love the Ortega y Gasset quote. Suits me.
Hi TM!
Posted by Mudge on from Austin, Texas 06/11 at 10:11 PMNah, man, growing up in this li’l town here has made it less likely to panic about stuff like that… well I’m up early, don’t have to be at work for five more hours, so who knows what I can get done before then…
