The bank teller might have bunions

Posted by Mickey Z on 07/13 at 04:28 AM
  1. in the jellyfish article they are calling it a “jellyfish explosion” which just strikes me as being a very odd phrase.

as for the vid, i was astonished when i first saw it.

it come from a bbc programme called the private life of birds or something like that. the best thing on the bbc is the nature programmes, which have always been excellent. there are lotsof things about the bbc that have always really annoyed me nd in recent years the investigative reporting has been neutered.

that said, they still do some good documentaries

  2. and whilst we are on the subject of the poisoned water that fish (jelly or otherwise) live in, i have some advice....

It has been scientifically proven that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria found in faeces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of shit.

However, we do not run that risk when drinking whiskey?or wine, rum, beer or other liquors) because alcohol has to go through a distillation
process of boiling, filtering and fermenting.

    WATER = SHIT

    WHISKEY = HEALTH

Free yourself of shit, drink WHISKEY!! It is better to drink whiskey and talk shit than to drink water and be full of it.... .

  3. I’m sorry that I don’t have it in me to miss the black rhino or whatever that is now, and all the jellyfish explosions in the world can’t compensate me for the hole in my heart again this morning…

Okay never mind. You know where this is going. And man, I sure am glad I don’t live in densely populated city or anything like that…

  4. I just donated a dollar-- I drink way too much coffee anyway. Now will Mudge come back? Okay good night for now…

(this might be annoying but hey-- at least I donated)

  5. Man, these work hours are really making me delirous.

  6. Good morning all - I’m glad that astonishing bird has made it here.  I wonder how many humans have met such a bird, or are at least aware that such a creature lives in their environs (in the way that North Americans are aware of deer or coyote)?  The bird seems to live in such remote jungle, and yet it’s heard enough camera shutters and chainsaws to mimick them with such accuracy.  It’s such a bittersweet demonstration of the marvels of nature.

I wonder how many “letter” carriers with bunions are themselves conscious of their having once been children.  When going about day to day mundane activities, are any of us conscious of this?  I find it a greater challenge not to be bitter that those who were once children now care little or nothing for the consequences of their actions today than that they might have emotional baggage making it difficult for them to do so. Jammed pistons, indeed.

  7. I always thought the “subway stare” was just people trying to look tough and stay out of trouble…

Seriously though, I have felt overwhelmed many times by a feeling that said to me that this many people in one place just ain’t natural.

  8. Hello Expendables. Another moist July day here in Astoria.

JOS: I was literally just about to post a “Where’s JOS?” here.

James: Thanks for the buck. Maybe it’ll start a trend (hint, hint).

Empress: I didn’t believe that bird video at first but after some looking around, I saw it was real. The chainsaw sound was chilling.

  11. Sorry man… it was just to get Mudge’s attention… although no no, I spend so much time here, I’m surprised I’m not charged rent somehow.

You know I should take photos from my roof here sometime and email them to you, or put them up on some flickr site or something like that. Off to go wake up.

  16. Hmmm...I thought we were up to World War V or VI by now…

    (Hello Helga and Luna)

Captcha sez: “four” so I guess it’s WWIV

  17. You’re right, how about WWx and you can fill in the number.

Here’s what the Beirut airport looks like:

  18. Wow...I would venture to guess there are more than a few flight delays.

Speaking of delays, what will it take before the American public catches on to Israel’s victim act?

  19. How about never?

  20. Nah, that sounds too optimistic to me.

  21. If Hamas and Hezbollah(spelling?)were to stop firing missles at Israel would Israel have a reason to attack them? They are surrounded by people who are determined to kill them. What are they to do? If Canada was lobbing missles at say...Astoria directly into civilian population centers would you want someone to do something or would you wring your hands and lament about poor oppressed Canada? After all, There’s nothing good about America so we can safely say that due to our actions around the world everyone else on the planet has good reason to want to destroy us and the world would be so much better off without us just like the Middle East would be better off without Israel.

  22. David, you’ve left an awful lot of context and history out of your appraisal of the Middle East situation. I can’t comment at length at this exact moment, but for now, here’s something worth a read: http://wsws.org/articles/2006/jul2006/isra-j13.shtml

I will, however, not argue with your last sentence...even if you were being sarcastic.

  24. Ok, In a perfect world scenario America and Israel are both gone. You and I and our families are dead. What happens next?

    P.S. Thanks for the links!

Posted by David  on  from Louisville KY 07/13  at  07:42 PM
  25. N one said anything about a perfect world, David...but this is a big topic. The U.S. and Israel have long said one thing while doing the other. Then, when they are inevitably attacked, they claim the role of innocent victim left with no choice but to retaliate with massive firepower. It’s an old script...even the Roman Empire used it.

  26. David: in a perfect world the US and Israeli Governemnts would be gone and there citizens would be in charge.

  27. Look, we all know that this isn’t a perfect world, because in a perfect world, Mudge would be commenting regularly.

    Sorry, couldn’t help it.
