How to win a fight (part II)
Top of the morn MZ.
Like the new gif. You seem to be popping-up everywhere these days, even @ infoshop…
Re: fighting—good article. Do you plan to keep going with the series (i.e., a part III)?
And what do you know; the U.S. vetoes yet another SC resolution demanding that Israel halt its attacks in Gaza: http://tinyurl.com/rk37w
Meanwhile, Israel bombs the Beirut airport again.
Just business as usual for our 51st state…
Posted by RT on from The Buyou City 07/14 at 07:12 AMThe only state I’m interested in is Texas! Oh woe is me… okay, just had to check in with that, good night now!
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 07/14 at 07:43 AMGood morning
Great article Mickey I hope there is a part III, I’m liking this.
I like the quote you chose:"Sharing our finite planet with the dominant culture is like being locked in a room with a psychopath."
I think there are a few of us who have keys to get out, there’s just too large a crowd on the way to the door.
On WWx....When will we all learn that the only population on the planet entitled to claim victim-hood is Israel??? The sooner the Arabs learn to enjoy their occupation the sooner we’ll have a peaceful middle East.
AAARRRGGG!!!!Youngfox and I were discussing this yesterday and his analogy was that they step on a person’s neck and then begin to whine that their tooth might’ve left a mark....oh no..now it’s an infection...oh help me!
(ok that was funnier when he said it than when I paraphrase)Israel has “become” the very thing which they continue to decry.
And Mickey, if the US invades, occupies my neighbourhood, bombs my home, cuts off my electricity, shoots my neighbour’s kids, your embargos prevent me from being able to feed myself, etc.....well, I can only promise now that if you give me the exact lattitude and longitude of your home, I’ll do what I can to ensure that our rebellion doesn’t target you.
A discussion about the topic surely can be nothing but a good thing, but really, it can only be fruitful if it’s based in reality.
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 07/14 at 07:55 AMooops.
The rambling latter portion of my post is all about yesterday.
I didn’t make it back to the CO until today and catching up on yesterday’s post got me all fired up.
Go “figure”, me incensed about Israel’s war crimes again. (hey I’m on a bit of a role with the captcha words since I’ve been back...what does it all mean??)

Posted by JOS on from Chicago 07/14 at 10:19 AMMorning everyone.
Watching the baby video all I could think was “Bad Baby! No!” lol
Also reading your article brought to mind Bas Rutten and his amazing Bouncer tips and tricks video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiEsktRiCXo&search=bas rutten
We were sharing this video around work a few weeks ago and it’s spawned the catch phrase. “Bang bang bang” Usually used when your frustrated with someone. ;)
I never chimed in with the fight discussion. Never been in a fight so what to say? Never let your pride stand in the way of walking away from a confrontation. Never make sudden moves or let yourself get cornered. Don’t look like your getting ready to make a move. Don’t give in to taunts. It helps to agree with them. “yes your right you would destroy me.” “It’s true I’m a wimp.” “I’m not going to fight you or defend myself.” I’ve found direct eye contact and listening very closely to what the other person is saying and responding to your opponent in as calm and non confrontational way as possible has gotten me out of more then one potential scrape.
Personally I’ve always felt I can’t get into a fight or “let” myself lose control like that. It would be to easy to kill or seriously damage someone and that can’t be taken back. :(
Peace and Love,
LunaPosted by Luna_C on from The Delta 07/14 at 10:45 AMJOS - our moods seem to be similar today. (and that baby’s probably crying because the life force is being sucked out of him by the gaping void)
Luna - that baby video was hilarious! Pity the mother after considering all the in utero practice sessions it to land that first outside kick!
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 07/14 at 10:55 AMi watched the vid and i still think the shot that is paused on is horrible.
sorry for the lack of disguise about this but i finsihed this today and someone suggested i should post it here (with the particular suggestion that RMJ would love it)
first link is easy watch bit i really suggest you do the second for full download (only 20 meg and perfectly safe) and get the full effect

http://www.archive.org/details/Imperial_MeasuresPosted by michael on from exile 07/14 at 11:09 AMGreeting, Expendables...from a positively steamy Astoria.
Empress: There will be at least two more articles in this series. Interestingly, none of the “big” lefty sites will post ‘em. Perhaps the metaphorical aspects are too subtle? In fact, many of my recent articles have been ignored by the big guys. I’m tempted to bang out a standard, heard-it-all-before lefty article and send it out just to see if they run it.
Luna: Cool Bas Rutten video...but he should keep his hands up when he throws his kicks.
Hello JOS, RT, James, and anyone else I’ve missed. I highly recommend Michael’s new film.
Captcha sez: “company” (as in “I’m in good...")
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/14 at 11:24 AMGreat video, Michael.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 07/14 at 12:16 PMI’m seldom able to enjoy the video links posted here until later, and then I often forget to check on them. I shall attempt not to lose my mental note to check today’s.
Astoria temps are all in your crazy fahrenheit! As I recall, 100F = 30C but it’s one of those things that just will not stay put and make a comfy home in my gray matter so I’m really not “certain”.
Here today it’s 29C and with the humidity feels like it’s 37C, add the brown wind to that and it’s climbing up to A/C alert levels...I think mine’s going to go on today. The heat I can cope with, it’s largely to filter the air that I break down and turn on the engergy monster.Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 07/14 at 12:36 PMHey everyone.
I know we’re all above Bush-baiting, but I went to see one of my favourite comedians last night, he brought the house down (one of many times) by saying “Bush isn’t in charge, we can see that, he’s something cute on top of something dangerous, like a bobblehat on a leopard”. Maybe you had to be there…
Michael, your video is downloading at half a millionth of a percent an hour, I’m sure it’ll be worth it
Btw, not been in a fight since school, like Luna, nothing to say. Tried learning twai kwon do in my teens but mostly succeeded in knackering my knees.Posted by Mew on from mew's snugglehouse 07/14 at 01:25 PMMew it’s lucky for leopards that their bobblehats don’t resemble arabic headress!
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 07/14 at 01:57 PMHi everyone...Darn, I’m out of the loop. I can’t see the videos. Might be my slow dial-up computer but in addition to that some of us are having problems with our ISP. It knocks us off the internet. Some other people seem to be having such a problem that they are getting a new ISP. I have not decided what to do.
JOS...thanks for the photos.
I hope someone will tell me what I am missing on the videos.
The totally slanted way that the press is reporting the bombings in Lebanon is getting to me.Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 07/14 at 02:48 PMGood morning/afternoon from a very wet Daylesford, Mickey and RT, James, Amelopsis, JOS (if I had a baby, I would not give it to George W., that’s for sure!), Luna_C, Mew, Michael and Rosemarie.
And thanks for the great new animation of Mickey who is not only a ‘cool observer’ but also a ‘hot guy’, Luna_C - thanks also for putting it up, Mickey.
If one did not know what is happening at Beirut Airport and all over Lebanon, one could even find that photo appealing, JOS.
Peace and love and a very good weekend to all of you,
HelgaPosted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 07/14 at 03:11 PM‘The totally slanted way that the press is reporting the bombings in Lebanon is getting to me.’
I so agree, Rosemarie! Same down under ..Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 07/14 at 03:18 PMHello again...and welcome, Mew, RMJ, and Helga. This latest round of Israeli attacks/counterattacks/whatever is playing out in a predictable manner. What disappoints me is the way the alternative media covers it. Same old angles, same old complaints...and too many seem to be saying that if “we” can get Israel to back down, it’s a victory. A big step in the right direction. Blah, blah, blah. Just like all those shouting to end the Iraq war but not even thinking about stopping all war or addressing the horrible conditions that make war so common and inevitable. Of course, the bombings, etc. have to stop but what next? Does anyone have a vision to end the cycle?
On a much lighter note, I’m excited to report that today we all chipped in to get my mom her first computer: a laptop, to boot. I’ll be going to Texas next month to help her set up.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/14 at 05:08 PMMichael that was a great video.

U2’S Bono backs insidious propaganda: Videogame with Venezuela invasion theme: http://tinyurl.com/ov9eb
and a scene from Shichinin no samurai, don’t know if this is one of the themes you’re getting at in your fight piece but it is a good scene. http://tinyurl.com/n7wcf
Posted by TM on from 07/14 at 06:14 PMThanks, TM. That samurai video is interesting as the swordsman who loses is unable to bridge the gap without leaving himself open to attack. That’s the theme of “part three” of my series.
As for Bono, his nonsense knows no bounds.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 07/14 at 06:21 PMI have a question. Why did Hezbollah get involved in this conflict? Who hatched the plan to come across the border and kidnap 2 Israeli soldiers? I can’t see how that was a good idea. Can anyone else wrap their brain around that?
Posted by David on from Louisville KY 07/14 at 07:53 PMdavid, it is good to know that someone can wrap their head around the fact that israel doing to its neighbours what the nazis did to the jews is a good idea. i am glad you can understand it
i certainly can’t
