Why "they" hate "us"
Oh man, the fascists at my new job firewall me out of so much stuff that I can’t post comments here, though I can read and follow along sometimes… so frustrating. And now there’s no one here today. The world outside of CO sure doesn’t seem anymore at peace than it was yesterday…
All the best wishes to Mickey’s mom down south today!
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 08/12 at 11:39 AMi had no idea it was Saturday, they all kindof blend into one another lately. I don“t really have a story save for the August rains have started drumming down and two rooms of my house are thoroughly bucketed because the people that own our house took off some of the roof to discourage anyone moving in but when people did they threw their hands up and said we could have the place for a couple years. Good health to your mother Mickey.
Posted by owen on from barcelona 08/12 at 12:13 PMHi James and Owen.
Mickey and Michele...happy landings to you and sending love to your Mother.
NBC is reporting that the alleged hijackers that were arrested had NO plane tickets and some of them did not even have passports.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 08/12 at 02:28 PMHello Expendables...thanks for the good wishes. It’s great to be with my parents again.
As for the flight, it was smooth. Lines were a little longer but no big deal.
I’ll check back here later…
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Dubya Land 08/12 at 03:03 PMIt can’t be our fault:
http://tinyurl.com/l5vozPosted by Mickey Z. on from Dubya Land 08/12 at 03:12 PMNice article. Love the I.F. Stone quote. I honestly cannot believe a single word uttered by politicians or the corporate news media.
Today I was cycling through town and I passed by a friend who asked if I had heard the news. What news, I says. The news, he says, that the UN brokered a deal and Hezbollah and Israel stopped with the killing. He was beaming like peace on Earth had finally come to pass. So on the way home I says to my girlfriend that’s bullshit. I check out the BBC website (still go there occassionally for hard news). Top news story? “Fresh Israeli Raids After UN Unveils Ceasefire Plan” or some such shit. I just checked it again now, several hours later. In an article with the headline “Hezbollah will observe truce” I found the line “Israel has backed the plan too but has extended an offensive in south Lebanon, tripling its ground troops there.”
Earth to the maniacs running Israel, and the BBC: you can’t have your cake and smash it another’s face too.
I know it’s no story but hey it’s a quiet day…
Posted by Keir on from The Hague (Jackowski election hdqts) 08/12 at 04:25 PMHey Keir, something else to keep your blood boiling:
http://www.ifamericansknew.org/stats/usaid.htmlPosted by Mickey Z. on from Dubya Land 08/12 at 04:34 PMKeir...my reaction to today’s news was the same as yours. In the same broadcast they say that there will be a ceasefire and then they add that Israel has increased the killing in the meantime. (BTW,I like having my election hdqts at the Hague.)
Mickey...thanks for that link. I will forward it to others.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 08/12 at 05:13 PMMickey: blood duly boiling, gracias.
Rosemarie, all we do here at Jackowski Election HQ is shout at the screen, go to the beach, and play a bit of music. If that ain’t enough to get you elected Attorney General of Vermont, feel free to invade The Hague; others do.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague (Jackowski election hdqts) 08/12 at 05:41 PMThanks, Keir for that article. The USA is so far above and beyond the Rule of Law that the rest of the world better start paying attention. The Principle of Universal Jurisdiction better be applied to usa violators soon or else. There seems to be a lot of that going on around here these days...the government violators claiming that the laws apply to everyone else but not them.
Shouting at the screen, listening to music, and going to the beach are my 3 favorite pastimes.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 08/12 at 05:54 PMI liked what I found on your site today, Mickey - but then I like everything I find here. Back from Melbourne and just calling in for a few minutes. It is a beautiful day today: clear blue sky and about 58 F. Spring is only 2 1/2 weeks away.
Hello to all my fellow expendables, and all the best for your mother, Mickey.
Be well,
HelgaPosted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 08/12 at 09:55 PMThanks, Helga. Good to have you back.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Dubya Land 08/13 at 09:04 AMBtw, Dubya gives us more reasons why they hate us:
“Let me first talk about how to make sure America is secure from a group of killers, people who hate—you know what they hate? They hate the idea that somebody can go buy a home. They hate freedom; that’s what they hate. They hate the fact that we worship freely.”

In the USA things just ain’t fairPosted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 08/13 at 02:24 PMHey I started to comment a while ago and by the time I finished it had turned into this.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague (Jackowski election hdqts) 08/13 at 07:45 PM“You one of those right wing nut outfits?” inquired the diplomatic Metzger.
Fallopian twinkled. “They accuse us of being paranoids.”
“They?” inquired Metzger, twinkling also.
“Us?” asked Oedipa.-Thomas Pynchon, Crying Of Lot 49
