Can't we just get Donald Trump to fire God?

Posted by Mickey Z on 08/24 at 04:30 AM
  1. David from last night asks, what do they want.  Shortly after 9/11 Osama issued a statement and told us exactly what they want.
1 USA to get out of their holy places (Saudi Arabia).
2 USA to end the sanctions that were killing so many in Iraq.
3 USA to stop the uneven support of Israel and stop sending the weapons that kill so many Palestinians.

These “requests” were well known long before 9/11. The USA made the decision to refuse the requests. 9/11 was the result.

  2. Good morning Mickey and Happy Belated to Keir,

I for one believe it’s advisable to abandon all notions of any monotheistic God in favour of careful analysis and investigation of our human behaviours while taking full accountability for them and all their ramifications.

The idea proposed by the recent visitor/emailer seems to be a superficial step in the right direction, however it does not address the issue that no matter any individual’s efforts, the power still rests with the larger corporations and govt. bodies regardless of the spirit of goodwill spread around with a red stamp. (I could very well be missing something of the details?)
I am rather in agreement with the notion that the ruling elite do feed/prey upon the emotional wheel spinning of hatred - yours, mine, anyone’s; I think you do more than that here Mickey.  You help to lay bare many facts otherwise left unsaid, unnoticed, which uncover bare-faced lies used and created by this same ruling elite in order to foment a mindless consumerism of obediance.  This is vital!  We MUST discern truth from lies in order to understand the world we live in.  It’s a far uglier place than current events might even lead us to imagine, despite its MASSIVE potential to be a beautiful wondrous planet.

Referring to a few comments yesterday, it is helpful to recognise civilians as civilians - regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, or religious convictions. THEY are the same as YOU.  When seeking to understand what THEY might want, ask yourself what YOU might want were you in their physical circumstances. (think more, type less)

    Captcha says “george”.

  3. Good morning Rosemarie - simultyping!

This time, captcha says “growing”.  How’s your daughter doing?

Posted by Amelopsis  on  from Canadispicable 08/24  at  07:48 AM
  4. Thanks for asking, Amelopsis. The daughter is growing. I am having stomach pains. The baby does not want to make an appearance yet. HE/she is late and may not like the world conditions these days.

I had heard about the “Portland Money”. I don’t know much about it but it seems like the barter of the old days, when a doctor would make a house call and accept a chicken as payment. This morning on one of the programs they did a story about health care. In India a heart operation that costs $2000 would cost $100,000 in the usa. They explained how it is done in India.

Amelopsis...you make an important point. A “civilian” is a “civilian”. I would only add that it is NEVER morally permissible to harm a civilian. Calling it “collateral damage” is just an attempt to propagandize the people. Unfortunately too many allow themselves to be propagandized. To me, killing any civilian, anywhere, under any circumstances, is murder.

  5. Good morning and hi everyone! I love the George Carlin quote. And I think a week ago, there was a post about revolutionary music (with Patti Smith in it). And so, there’s this band I’ve been wanting to share with everyone here (if you haven’t heard of them) because I think they’re on the most important bands around, with thought-provoking, intelligent lyrics and well-crafted music. They’re called Propagandhi, from Winnipeg, Canada, and their most recent album was called Potemkin City Limits. Here’s two of my favorite songs from that album that I wanted to share.

    Name and Address Withheld

    Lyrics:
The following views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the prevailing order, who prostrate to their naked kings, tailor the seams of funeral shrouds on foreign shores, but shed no tears for the dead of the endless list of informal wars – the justification for will be spelled out coming soon to a screen near you. I’m feeling less hopeful and so much less human as my days are reduced to little more than settling for revenge and wondering whatever happened to the kid that pledged “first do no harm”? Chalk it up to an overdeveloped sense of unbridled vengeance. Somebody fed me too much New Hope for breakfast, cuz as the empire preemptively strikes back (again) and the voice of Luke’s father baritones this is CNN I recall Arab kids slaughtered reduced to “sand-niggers” and “rag-heads.” And now I’m expected to mourn dead Americans? The executioner’s willing citizens? I’m so sorry and I’m trying to think it through, but when the chickens came home to roost and hand-delivered matching funeral urns to the bully that never learns I could’ve swore I heard a chorus rise and fall wishing them so many more unhappy returns. But in every war waged, only kings emerged unscathed.

    Die Jugend Marschiert (America’s Army)

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/488r0l

    Lyrics:
Welcome to the offices of Economic and Manpower Analyses here at our historic and sprawling West Point Academy campus! My name is Mindy! It is my distinct pleasure to introduce you to a loving father of three (and a champion of the sanctioned use of armed force in pursuit of policy objectives). Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the project director of our newest recruitment strategy; our mission to staff future combat systems through current technologies. Without any further ado, I give to you Colonel Casey Wardynski!

    (warm applause)

Thank you! Let me begin with some sentimental appeals to our national myths; assorted clichés coined by the state; the ideological shorthand meant to sweep your private doubts [away] of this virtual training course. This portal; this Trojan Horse that you living idiots paid for and actually rolled into your own kids’ rooms.

    (stunned silence)

Oops, did I just say that out loud? Oh, well, it’s not like it’s something new. It’s just the logical extension of the decades of bilge water that you’ve let us pump into your homes. The pink noise that hums away in the background while you run the gauntlet we force on you everyday. The billowing candy floss that helps to soften the blow. Deep down you’ve always known that your children already belong to us, so why don’t you cut the outraged parent routine, shut your mouth and get back in your seat. Your children already belong to us. What are you? You will pass on. And they won’t know a fucking thing but this ‘community,’ this real life Ender’s Game. Forget what you think you know.

I think it’s also nice to note that their label G7 Welcoming Committee Records is run under Parecon. Hope you enjoy it as much as me!

  6. re god

if you ever wondered where all the babel fish internet stuff comes from it is from this…

“The Babel fish is small, yellow and leechlike, and probably the oddest thing in the Universe. It feeds on brainwave energy received not from its own carrier but from those around it. It absorbs all unconscious mental frequencies from this brainwave energy to nourish itself with. It then excretes into the mind of its carrier a telepathic matrix formed by combining the conscious thought frequencies with nerve signals picked up from the speech centres of the brain which has supplied them. The practical upshot of all this is that if you stick a Babel fish in your ear you can instantly understand anything said to you in any form of language. The speech patterns you actually hear decode the brainwave matrix which has been fed into your mind by your Babel fish.

Now it is such a bizarrely improbably coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful [the Babel fish] could have evolved by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God.

The argument goes something like this:

“I refuse to prove that I exist,” says God, “for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.”

“But,” says Man, “the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. QED.”

“Oh dear,” says God, “I hadn’t thought of that,” and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.”

it is one of the bits of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy novel that disney wanted cut. i still havent watched the movie because i just know they will have ruined it.

  7. Hello Expendables. I hope to reply soon to the great comments above but for now, I have something Osama told Peter Arnett in 1997 (an excerpt):

“We declared jihad against the US government, because the US government is unjust, criminal, and tyrannical. it has committed acts that are extremely unjust, hideous, and criminal, whether directly or through its support of the Israeli occupation ... And we believe the US is directly responsible for those who were killed in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq. The mention of the US reminds us before everything else of those innocent children who were dismembered, their heads and arms cut off in the recent explosion that took place in Qana [in Lebanon]. This US government abandoned even humanitarian feelings by these hideous crimes. It transgressed all bounds and behaved in a way not witnessed before by any power or any imperialist power in the world ... The US is responsible for any reaction, because it extended its war against troops to civilians. This is what we say. As for ... the American people, they are not exonerated from responsibility, because they chose this government and voted for it despite their knowledge of its crimes in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and in other places, and its support of its client regimes who filled their prisons with our best children and scholars.”

  10. happy belated birthday Keir.

  11. Bush & Co. will not be changing their foreign policies, period.  They believe everything they do is right and is sanctioned by the Almighty.  Their narrow vision of what the world should be will not be altered by opposing opinions, certainly not by anything osama has to say.

So, get used to the fact that America, as long as Bush is President, will be hated & scorned for the mismanged, dishonest and totally inept government that the citizens of the U.S. voted for, not only once, but unbelievably, twice.

I guess Fear is a powerful tool.

On a lighter note, hope you enjoyed a wonderful birthday, Keir.

  13. Thanks for the wishes all. Doesn’t change the fact that I am, indeed, no longer 29. Or 19. I was born old and tired and that ‘3’ at the beginning of my age don’t help one bit.

Anyway. Mickey your new reader’s suggestion brought to mind something tubthumper Michael once mentioned at my site: that Scott Ritter had told him “amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics” to which I would just add: “...off the record.”

Also reminded me of a Kundera quote I’ve mentioned here before: “Hate traps us by binding us too close to our enemies.”

    Regards to all expendables.

  15. It’s all very well to say Fire God, but I’d like to put in a bid to Fire Satan too. While I can’t claim any originality for this thought, your post reminded me of something I saw back on the 6th of the 6th of the 6th. I couldn’t help but think that this guy had a point:
