My cousin's pet turtle liked to eat frogs
I like my reality as subjective as the next guys. However when this kinda of thing pops up…
“ If I think James Joyce wrote “Ulysses” while designing helmets for motorcycle-riding mice, then I can edit Wikipedia to make it historical fact. I find that extremely comforting.”
It gets me to wondering how close we are to 1984’s “memory hole”. Forget I said that. We do have a memory hole. I’ve seen to many facts slip through it and burn away.
Thanks for posting the Wow story Mickey. I sent that out to the social email at work yesterday. We have about 90 people or so that read it. Only 2 people made comments. 1 guy saying how it really sucks but that’s the world we live in now and it’s to late to do anything about it. He didn’t want to hear any of my “conspiracy theories” and the other guy ( who surprised me cause I thought he knew better) saying that pre 911 the same situation would of been handled the exact same way. Which is bs. Once he told the stewardess that it was his ipod that would of been the end of it. They never would of diverted the plane let alone question every passenger. He agreed when I called him on it. Either way it got about 3 responses.
What really saddened me is that the next thread about how to get silly putty out of clothes got like 40. Sigh, that’s the game industry for you…
Anyone else feel we just got to get a new paradigm on?
http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/morford/Wish us luck! The Wife and I are going out to the country this weekend to spend time with her family. We’re also going to be checking out possible plots of farmland to purchase for our eventual flee from society.
Peace and Love everyone
LunaPosted by Luna_C on from The Delta 08/26 at 08:51 AMGood morning Mickey,
I dig the 3 poems a lot.
Your frog story reminds me of a couple of boys in my grade school who clearly watched much more television than you! A few of us found out that on a few occasions they’d taken frogs and blown them up using those little firecrackers that used to be readily purchasable. Even then I think they were ashamed of their actions on some level since they went quiet when asked about it. One grew to become a ‘respectable’ citizen and business owner, married w/kids; the other’s young wife was murdered a few days prior to their first anniversary by one of his family members.
Nothing much to do with frogs, (or stories for that matter) but peculiar nonetheless. Also, in his younger (outdoor free-roaming) years, the senior of my cat companions used to very much enjoy meeting up with another neighbourhood cat friend of his and together they’d go to prey upon the frogs at a little pond near where we used to live.
No wonder he didn’t eat all his kibble.Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 08/26 at 08:56 AMHi Luna, simultyping, not ignoring. Enjoy your foray away from urbanity.
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 08/26 at 08:58 AMHello Expendables...from rainy, cool Astoria. Yeah, there’s something about the long-suffering frog. Everyone has a story and it usually ain’t pretty.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/26 at 10:06 AMGood Saturday afternoon to one and all. Very interesting post today, Mickey. The world after 9-11 has indeed changed; gone down another notch. Things we took for granted, we no longer can. Even the most innocent of occurrences can be suspect. One has to be extraordinarily careful not to step out of line.
Luna, I think you are on to a good idea. Good luck in your adventure.
Congratulations to Rosemarie on the successful arrival of your darling little grand-daughter.

Have fun as the summer winds down all of you, I´m up to France to work on a vineyard for a few weeks tomorrow (I don´t have a conventional job so I may as well work for my holidays).
xowenp.s. my story/poem:
today I performed
some home
dentistry and
I don´t drink
anymore
so it wasn´t
as fun as
I remember it
being.Posted by owen on from barcelona 08/26 at 01:57 PMHey CO and Owen. Personally, dentristry falls into the “don’t try this at home” category.
Where is everyone? Once again, we have high traffic for a Saturday...but looooooow commentary action.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/26 at 02:25 PMHey, Counterpunch posted one of my poems, too:
http://www.counterpunch.org/poems08262006.htmlPosted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/26 at 05:31 PMHey Mickey, everyone else… been an overwhelming week with a few things, okay with work, not so okay with other things. But it’ll be fine, just not much focus to read here. Anyway, congatulations to RMJ!
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 08/26 at 05:42 PMWelcome back, CatLady. Where’s your husband these days?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/26 at 06:02 PMHe’s out there, just not here for some reason. Oh well, maybe he’ll come around again.
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 08/26 at 06:27 PMHe sure is “out there.”
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/26 at 06:28 PMAren’t we all… just got word of a local friend’s birthday party in Williamsburg, and with my luck, the L train is not working. What an adventure on the subway this will be. Will check back here tomorrow.
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 08/26 at 06:47 PMHi CatLady!
Long time no see.
Chin up; I hope whatever stuff’s going on doesn’t overwhelm. I’ve been having rather a lot of extraneous shit passing my way too; keep a shovel handy, and try to find something to laugh at. (not that me having issues makes any difference really, but I thought I’d express a little solidarity in fending off the misery that tries to insert itself into the day to day)Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 08/26 at 06:52 PMHello Empress...and CatLady, Michele and I are out the door to a party now, too. Fortunately, we’re walking to it.
See everyone later…
