Revolution just ain't what it used to be

Posted by Mickey Z on 09/27 at 04:18 AM
  1. People in this and most industrialized countries are comfortable enough that you won’t get a revolution from them. People have to get really uncomfortable to start a revolution. I’m talking about Cold & Hungry Uncomfortable. The ruling elite understand this so they throw us enough to keep us full & quiet.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

  2. Good article Mickey. I think 99% of the problem comes down to this: I am now going to recommend this piece by Michael Albert, rather than take the advice in both your and his writing.

Oh, speaking of revolutions, crank up your speakers and check out this one...

    Hey, I didn’t say it.

  5. >spoken through primly pursed lips<

REally, now, I DO hope there will be no repeat of yesterday’s disGRACEful outbreak of worty dirds.  The eff word is simply unnecessary!  Unnecessary!  In polite intercourse.

    Stop giggling!

MZ, from last night: Doing okay.  The landlady came over last night to extract $300 in fines for having the dogs here, after making me get rid of them.  I did not kill her, and I am proud of myself for that.  I extended myself to be charming, in fact.  Gave her a piece of Mama’s silver, in fact, as a sweetener.

David #1: “I’m talking about Cold & Hungry Uncomfortable. The ruling elite understand this so they throw us enough to keep us full & quiet”
‘Twas ever thus, when going back to the empires of yore...bread and circuses in Rome, or good harvests in China being distributed as a function of the state.

Cold and hungry won’t be enough anymore.  Cold, hungry, toyless lives will foment discontent.  What will spark open revolt?  I predict a plague like the 1918 flu could do it, when the gummint is powerless to keep its lapdogs from dying the lapdogs will bite.  There will ALWAYS be enough preventive medicine for senators, Congressfolk, their families, and the rich.  That won’t play very well.

  6. How about when there is no clean water left to drink, do you think there will be revolution then?

I wonder what would happen...do you think the police would continue to beat down the thirsty hordes so that Bill Gates could have a drink first or join the revolution?

I think I would go up to Canada.  Twenty years ago, I drank straight from a cold-water stream in Northern Ontario.  What a beautiful thing that was.  Of course, now that I think about it, that was twenty years ago, and I saw many logging roads plowing through the thickly wooded forests.

  7. Oh, and good morning David, Keir, Jeremy and especially Mudge.

    Great article, Mickey.

  8. Oh the forests of Northern Ontario are being steadily destroyed, there’s a full on battle for the Boreal going on; not to mention open pit mining farther north.  That said, there are still many places left ‘looking’ intact. I say ‘looking’ because you might be driving along the transcanada highway through what seems to be pristine forest, but really it’s just the 200 meter buffer between the road and the clearcut.

Plenty of artesian wells that way too, BUT...I recall seeing a credit to a little artesian well I once knew appearing on some clear plastic $2 bottle in the grocery store, so there’s probably a big bottling plant where a little wooden sign used to mark the spot.

INTERCOURSE! I despise that sort of ‘progress’. (keeping the language clean today)

If you run out of water to drink in the US it’ll only be if Stephen Harper’s already sold all of it from within our borders.

  9. Way to keep it clean, Amelopsis…

Excrement, but isn’t that just great?  They leave two hundred yards of forest along the highways expecting everyone to just drive on by like nothing’s wrong...and guess what...they do!

  10. JOS, #6. . .we already saw last summer what the police state did in the midst of catastrophe. If you want to know whether the Gateses of the world will receive protection, consider how property was protected at the expense of (brown) human beings post-Katrina. Haven’t you heard of Haliburton’s SurvivaBalls?

  18. Revolution just ain’t what it used to be...tell that to the freedom fighting spirit in Hungary.  Other self-described “freedom fighters” give the originals a bad name.  The DAY they found out their government lied riots broke out, which was the first such unrest to take place in Hungary since the fall of communism and the establishment of democracy in the late 1980s.

Posted by dw  on  from ohio 09/27  at  01:27 PM
  19. While a revolution is a nice idea, most people have no idea what they are talking about.  The problem with our world is not the American government.  It is the money.  The World Bank, IMF, and the Federal Reserve rule the world.  The President of the United States is a hand puppet of these people.  Most of them are Jews.  So when you speak of revolution, you must necessarily speak of world revolution and the eradication of a fiat money system run by international bankers.  If you simply overthrow the government, you still have the fiat money and your masters remain as they were.  The kind of revolution you seem to be talking of would please these internationalists very well.  These are the ones responsible for the war in the Middle East.

  21. Thanks to Wayne, I will add this goddamned quote to the motherfuckin’ mix:

“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.”
    -Henry Ford

  22. Mickey Z is back in the motherfuckin’ house.

Mr. Bent says the Jews are the problem, not the US government.  I say civilization itself is the problem, and they are just playing its game.

It don’t matter whether you’re Jewish, Catholic, Buddhist or into Scientology...unless you’re a practicing indigenous person you’re taking more than you’re giving back.

  23. Who doesn’t know obscene wealth rules the world?  Wayne Bent, you make a mistake when you patronize “a nice idea.”

Although the governments of the free world watched the Hungarian Revolution with deep admiration, they never seriously considered providing military support, nor condemnation strong enough to stop the brutal actions of the Soviet Union.

However, the heroes of 1956 did not die or suffer in vain. They demonstrated such uncommon bravery, such a universal yearning for freedom from foreign tyranny, that the whole world was forced to see the true face of communism at last.  The Revolution’s spirit came full circle in June, 1989, when Imre Nagy and others were finally given the public burial by a grateful Hungarian nation that had waited 33 years to pay homage to their sacrifice.

The 1956 Revolution was the first step in the dissolution of Communism to be followed by the Prague Spring in 1968, the founding of Solidarity in Poland in 1980, and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The Communist system, that received its first mortal blow in Hungary in 1956, disintegrated across the region in 1989. Soon thereafter the Warsaw Pact dissolved. The last Soviet soldiers left Hungarian soil in June, 1991, and at long last Hungary was free.

A nice idea and example indeed.

  24. No, sir, I did not say Jews are the problem.  Jews are just doing their business.  Many Jews are vocal in undoing the problem.  The problem is we, the dumbed down self serving, self interested mob, who let other men control our money.  It would matter not whether they were Jew or Iranian.  Look at your dollar.  A piece of paper.  The money creators (Federal Reserve) can make an announcement tomorrow and tell you that (oops) your dollar isn’t worth anything.  They control the economy with many diversions.  Look at the little Pyramid on the back, and the great big eye staring at you, on your dollar bill.  Kinda tells the whole story.  Henry Ford knew all about it.  But even he had to bow the knee, to be able to finance his car business.

  25. DW....just follow the money.  The same people rule hungary now, as ruled before.  The names and places change, but the money, the bank, calls all the shots.  No dictator can buy a gun without their help.  It is all a game of international Chess.  Go ahead, overthrow the US Government, and then reach out to the International money makers to pay for your new government, and it will be all the same.

Posted by Wayne Bent  on  from New Mexico 09/27  at  02:27 PM
  26. I just dug this out for the occasion:

Henry Ford was an autocratic magnate who despised unions, tyrannized workers, and fired any employee caught driving a competitor’s model. Ford, an outspoken anti-Semite, believed that Jews corrupted gentiles with “syphilis, Hollywood, gambling, and jazz.” In 1918, he bought and ran a newspaper, The Dearborn Independent, which became an anti-Jewish forum.

The New York Times reported in 1922 that there was a widespread rumor circulating in Berlin claiming that Henry Ford was financing Adolf Hitler’s nationalist and anti-Semitic movement in Munich,” write James and Suzanne Pool in their book Who Financed Hitler. “Novelist Upton Sinclair wrote in The Flivver King, a book about Ford, that the Nazis got forty thousand dollars from Ford to reprint anti-Jewish pamphlets in German translations, and that an additional $300,000 was later sent to Hitler through a grandson of the ex-Kaiser who acted as intermediary.”

An appreciative Adolf Hitler kept a large picture of the automobile pioneer besides his desk, explaining: “We look to Heinrich (sic) Ford as the leader of the growing Fascist movement in America.” Hitler hoped to support such a movement by offering to “import some shock troops to the U.S. to help [Ford] run for president.”

In 1938, on Henry Ford’s 75th birthday, he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Supreme Order of the German Eagle from the Führer himself. He was the first American (GM’s James Mooney would be second) and only the fourth person in the world to receive the highest decoration that could be given to any non-German citizen. An earlier honoree was none other than kindred spirit, Benito Mussolini.

  29. Fascism, Communism, Democracy and Socialism, are and were all paid for by the same people.  The same money supported Hitler, the gassing of the Jews, and the Communist revolution.  Nothing can happen without the money.  FOLLOW THE MONEY.  DUH!

    hound
    n.
    1. A domestic dog of any of various breeds commonly used for hunting, characteristically having drooping ears, a short coat, and a deep resonant voice.

I’ll save you the time and effort before you mention your original usage of “hound.” The remaining definitions are all negative.

I have often said, “Just follow the money” to explain wars, poverty, pollution, etc. It is not necessary to link that to any ethnic or religious group. I always link it to capitalism. Capitalism knows no religious or ethnic bounds.

“This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it.” Good ol’ Abe’s words. 39. RMJ, I’m with TM in my appreciation for this gem: “Capitalism knows no religious or ethnic bounds.” So why bring any religious, ethnic, or other group identity into the mix?  It vitiated the strength of the “cui bono?” argument.

By the way, I see we collectively “broke training” today...after SUCH a promising start >heavy, disappointed sigh< now must Teacher get out his ruler and start smacking palms?

Empress...fines don’t do anything much.  Those against whom they’re levied can afford them, or they wouldn’t be levied.  ExxonMobil is fighting having to pay the last $90-some million of its fine to clean up Prince William Sound after all...and this in a quarter during which the profits from their rape of the earth and its inhabitants exceeded $4 billion.

    I feel queasy.

For some reason, I can’t get Dr. Pangloss’ theme from the Bernstein/Hellman operetta of Candide out of my head....
