Around the world with Mickey Z. (no airport security necessary)
Good morning Mickey, busy day for me today so I’ll have to check the marathon of links a little later on.
I wanted to say thanks to Mudge for the very nice poem last night, and to James and his two handsome boys for the good wishes. Thanks, Expendables, and I’ll be back later on.
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 10/19 at 07:24 AMGood morning Amelopsis and Mickey.
My friend Peter, who is in his 70s and the grandfather of 12, had an interesting day on Tuesday.
“...Peter Diamondstone, of Brattleboro, the Liberty Union party candidate for the seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Sen. James Jeffords, participated in Tuesday’s debate at the Vermont Law School along with U.S. Rep. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Richard Tarrant, the Republican candidate for the seat.
He accused the United States of committing war crimes in Iraq.
“We are the terrorists, and the world needs to be armed against us,” said Diamondstone.
But he drew jeers from the crowd of about 250 people when he used foul language to belittle two students who were directing questions to Sanders and Tarrant instead of him.
When he refused to obey time limits on his comments, he was escorted from the stage by Windsor County sheriff’s deputies, at the request of debate organizers. In a hallway outside, he was pinned face-down on the floor and handcuffed by two deputies.
Diamondstone was charged with disorderly conduct...”I believe that the Liberty Union/Socialist party holds the record up here for those arrested. 2 were arrested at a Negroponte speech, some at a protest of the VT Yankee nuclear facility, now Peter, and my incarceration is pending.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/19 at 08:05 AMI laughed out loud when I read that first headline: “Web Could Be Terror Training Camp”. I hope they don’t bomb my ISP.
Nice array of articles. It’s going to take me some time to go through all of them thoroughly. Great, great info.
I enjoyed MZ’s discourse with the guy who responded to his article the other day. I thought you handled that well, MZ. He may not have converted, but I think you made an impression.
I have also studied the Koran and I find your conclusions totally unacceptable as to what is written in the Koran. The Koran champions a religion that is satanic by nature, unforgiving by definition, and trapped in medieval darkness.
That’s a response I got to this article. I noted in response that I wasn’t making “conclusions” about what is in the Quran, I was merely quoting it directly. Draw your own conclusions.
Posted by Jeremy on from Taipei 10/19 at 09:41 AMOops. Brain fart. I meant this article.
Posted by Jeremy on from Taipei 10/19 at 09:43 AMHello Expendables. The sun is shining for now but rain might be on the way.
RMJ: Your friend seems to think this democracy thing is for real, huh?
Jeremy: Glad to see your articles getting out there. If you e-mail me, I can suggest other sites and editors that might run your stuff.
See everyone later. Off to do the laundry.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/19 at 11:40 AMThanks, MZ. I sent you an e-mail.
I got “9/11 Press for Truth” in the mail the other day and watched it. Finally, a good 9/11 documentary. It’s based largely in part on Paul Thompson’s 9/11 timeline and subsequent book “The Terror Timeline”. I actually helped with some research for the section on Afghanistan, for which I received an acknowledgment in the book. I highly recommend this video, which can be ordered from Cooperative Research.
Posted by Jeremy on from Taipei 10/19 at 11:52 AMHi everyone.
I’ve been quite busy the last week and unable to stop in, but I wanted to make you all aware of this:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15321167/
Now, I don’t know what I think about Keith Olbermann (actually, I don’t know I’ve ever actually thought about him at all for more than a second), but this is probably the best thing that’s aired in the mainstream in a long time. I suggest watching the clip.
Of course, Olbermann places too much blame on Bush and fails to mention that it’s really Congress who got us to this point, but whatchagonnado with TV “news”.
Posted by Banta on from Inner Circle of Hell 10/19 at 11:59 AMSince I noted Mr. “medievel darkness”, I might as well share with my Expendable friends the more positive response I just got (I’ll gut most of it and share the highlights): "Thank you for such an insightful and well documented article. It should be sent as an editorial to every newspaper in America and the world if possible (you might throw the churches in as well).... Please continue your quest. There are a lot of us out here that only get truth from such as you." Wow.
Posted by Jeremy on from Taipei 10/19 at 12:00 PMBanta...I happened to see that “presentation” by Olbermann. I was impressed. True, he was a bit off in the facts and did not place any responsibility on the Congress or the voters but his delivery was the best I have seen in a very long time.
Mickey...I admire my friend a lot because I know how hard it is to do what he does. His whole life is devoted to bringing about change. I don’t necessarily agree with him. He thinks that the answer is in the Socialist Party. I am not so sure that ANY party is the answer. I had forgotten to say earlier that he did NOT resist arrest. No one I know resists arrest. The fact the the police used unnecessary force on a 70+ year old man with medical problems says a lot about what is happening in this country. BTW, that was not the first time that Peter was abused by the police. A couple of years ago he had a similar experience. He sued the State for it and won that time!
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/19 at 02:44 PMHi again,
Still making my way through all the various articles, MZ, there are just so many underhanded and horrible actions and manipulations that it’s hard to recollect them all - even when they’re most pertinent.
Jeremy - good stuff.
RMJ - that’s some pretty shoddy treatment, and not nearly as uncommon as it should be. I don’t think that any Party is the answer either, but rather the lesser among evils. It’s something, just not ‘The Answer’, as far as I can figure.
Anyone else see the regular sidebar appearing at the bottom below all the comments??
The main page is Ok, but the comments page has the sidebar pushed to the bottom. Not sure if it’s just me.Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 10/19 at 02:57 PMOf course now no one will say they see the same problem...he’s done gone ‘n fixed the durn thing.
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 10/19 at 03:12 PMGood morning/afternoon, Mickey! Another sunny day is dawning in Daylesford but it won’t be too warm - about 66F or so.
Full disclosure: I would still like to fly to a few of those destinations even if it is not good for the environment. In the meantime, I’ll click on ‘Germany’ and will tell a friend ..
And ‘hi’ to all my fellow expendables. Take care, all of you, wherever you are.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 10/19 at 03:30 PMAmelopsis...I have noticed that the sidebar is missing sometimes. It is there right now. Just one more word about the arrest of my friend. It happened because he was trying to speak at a debate at VERMONT LAW SCHOOL. Kind of explains why lawyers turn out the way that they do.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/19 at 03:34 PMHello again, everyone. I will try to catch up on all the links, etc. now.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/19 at 04:01 PMP.S. Has anyone told a friend today?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/19 at 05:45 PMFox News (sic) is reporting that Israel is planning to invade Gaza soon. Also on the Israel front:
http://tinyurl.com/ydy5mmPosted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/19 at 06:14 PMMickey # 15. Yes, I just mentioned this site in an e-mail to Keith Olbermann.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/19 at 06:20 PMMickey,
Your article is featured on the google news page. I just came across it. It’s linked to opednews.com
Posted by JMS on from NYC 10/19 at 06:29 PMWell, whadddya know? Google and Olbermann on the same day? Thanks JMS and RMJ.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/19 at 06:35 PMHello all.
Helga I’d like to see a lot of those places too (though not when US Inc. is doing its business). Expendable favorite and professed atheist Kurt Vonnegut once wrote “Strange travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.”
Mickey on the tell-a-friend front I managed to link to an old article of yours at my place today. I swear I spent the past hour or so trying to find an ideal place to link to you. If you have a better link for the article I chose (one which directs here, for example) let me know.
That link in #16 is exactly the kind of horseshit my post is reacting against.
Posted by Keir on from The Hague (Jackowski election hdqts) 10/19 at 07:21 PMThat’s a good choice for a vegan link, Keir. Thanks.
Captcha sez: nuclear.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/19 at 07:27 PMA recommendation to visit mickeyz.net went out in my mailing list today. How did Mark Zepezauer put it? Oh yeah, “Mickey Z rocks!”
