You couldn't even fit a skeleton in these closets
Good morning all.
I don’t see any of the You Tube things here but am wondering if today it could have anything to do with George Carlin’s “A Place for my Stuff”.Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/27 at 07:37 AMGood morning, RMJ...and all Expendables soon to arrive (or lurking). The video actually has nothing to do with the main post but, yes, that Carlin bit would have been perfect. Maybe I’ll track it down and add at least a link now.
How’s the weather in Vermont?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/27 at 08:32 AMDone. Now, the two times you see the word “stuff,” you can click for the Carlin video. Thanks, RMJ (even though I know you can’t watch the video).
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/27 at 08:35 AMI can proudly say that I have been living the past year with the clothes that fit into one suitcase, in a room of a family member’s house (so I have no furniture, etc.) and without a car, which doesn’t mean much to New Yorkers, but does mean a lot to people who live in the Chicago suburbs.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 10/27 at 10:39 AMWe could always hope for another huge typhoon on the other side of the planet so we can empty out our garages and attics and send the refugees our boxes of “much needed” parkas, broken skis, 80’s campaign memorabilia, and extra electronic parts to whoknowswhat. This is everyone’s misguided attempt to satisfy two needs: clear up room in our attics (for more stuff later) and “help” the the refugees out....(even though the Red Cross and other relief agencies ask for CASH only)
Posted by Joseph on from Fairbanks, alaska 10/27 at 12:19 PMHello again, everyone. What’s up, JOS? And welcome Joseph (how did you find this site?). Thanks for adding to the stuff being talked about here today.
Speaking of “stuff,” does anyone remember when a dunk in basketball was called a “stuff”?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/27 at 01:37 PMMichele and I are off to Sunswick for a portobello burger. I’ll check back in here later.

We’re just a bunch of monkeys…
(I hope the picture shows up)Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 10/27 at 03:08 PMYour posts always make my day, Mickey! Sorry to hear about your lack of closet space - we have quite a bit of that, although neither Helga nor Mr Helga are into clothes. However, those spaces can be put to good use for storing books, records, etc.
‘Hi’ from a rather cool Daylesford to Rosemarie, JOS, Joseph and Amelopsis. Have a great weekend, all of you and you, Mickey and Michele.
Auf Wiederemailen,
HelgaP.S. LOVE those monkeys, Amelopsis.

http://tinyurl.com/txgzPosted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 10/27 at 04:08 PMHello Empress, RMJ, and Helga. Thanks for the photo, link, and friendly comments.
Yesterday’s article about science and medicine has resulted in many, many e-mails of agreement and support. This is one of my favorites:
Your article today was right on. I’m 81 and don’t take any prescription drugs. Most of my contemparies, the ones that are still living, are taking cholesterol drugs, hormone replacement therapy, Plavix to keep their platelets from sticking together, blood pressure medicine, most of which doesn’t do them any good and in some cases do them harm, but they take them because the doctor says they need them, but the real truth is they’re just lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies and probably the doctors who prescribe them. These are the same people who believe we’re fighting the war in Iraq because it’s better to fight them over there than to fight them here. We shouldn’t be fighting them at all.Never mind that we’re over there killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people and bombing their country until there’s nothing left. Thousands of our soldiers losing their lives, most of them young men who have only just begun to live, many with wives and young children left without husbands/fathers. They don’t believe me when I try to tell them that Iraq was no threat to us. They believe the line that they’ve been told: that we must “stay the course” which, strangely, two weeks before election day, has been abandoned.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 10/27 at 05:36 PMAnother great e-mail I got:
You remember ‘crazy balls’? They’re very bouncy, responsive...fun to throw them against the wall and watch them bounce all over the place and it takes some time before they stop. We have lived for centuries, disobeying natural laws. We live insanely. The longer we live insanely, the more insane and disconnected from our place among natural things. We live without essence, confused, insane, lost. We try to make sense, solve problems...that become more and more out of control, become worst, more insane. This process is repeated over and over and over, generation after generation. We become ‘crazy balls’, bouncing all over the place, never grounded in anything real. We bounce off each other, off the walls, the system, the ‘rules’, we try to make sense, we keep bouncing...we try to communicate, relate, obtain some substance in our life, we keep bouncing, direction-less, yet in all directions simultaneously, together, in no cohesive, meaningful course. At our next meeting, I will take 2 handfuls of ‘crazy balls’ purchased at the local americansRus store, throw them against the wall and simply state, here we are...again!
