Caption This
happy birthday michele
i cant think of a caption yet. i dont even want to look at that photo!
Posted by michael on from exile 11/26 at 08:52 AMYeah, that photo is horrific. It has rendered me unable to conjure anything but nausea.
On a brighter note: Happy Birthday Michele!!!!
Posted by Brian on from Brooklyn 11/26 at 11:43 AMOk...here’s one:
“Hahaha...despite everything, those morons STILL think of us as two separate parties...OH,HAHAHAHAHAH...OH...it hurts!”
Posted by Brian on from Brooklyn 11/26 at 11:47 AMHello Expendables. Global warming has blessed us with yet another balmy late November day here.
Michael and Brian: I share you trepidation, re: this photo. That’s precisely why I chose it.
Also, I realize it is a sketchy proposition to hold a caption contest on the Sunday of a holiday weekend...but as captcha sez: faith
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 11/26 at 12:31 PMMichele...Have a great birthday. The sun is shining on you today. Hugs to you.
My caption, “Georgie boy, we really did it this time---and to think that some of those lemmings out there still think I am opposed to the war and really give a damn about their health care.”
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 11/26 at 12:46 PMA very happy birthday to you, Michele! I hope the sun’s shining for you in Queens the same strange and lovely wintery way that it is here.
Caption for the photo?.... “Ha! They’ll never know the difference!” or something more prosaic but equally sinister and jaded. It is pretty hard to look at; I’m not sure which is more disturbing: the clueless look on GWB’s mug, or Hillary looking like she’s having a hard time concealing her broomstick.
I’m sorry I’ve been so utterly absent from this space for the past week - I’m not even sure when or if I’ll be able to catch up!
One quick glance and I noticed the ‘Perception is Reality’...cashier kid in the grocery store trotted that one out the other day; the best I can think of that is ‘at least he’s a little more thoughtful than the majority of his peers’, doesn’t leave much room for hope, although I then considered that perhaps the kid was just too young to have seen through all the bullshit yet. Perhaps there is hope, but only if the young start honing their bullshit detectors as young as they start developing their thumb muscles on the latest xbox joystick (if they even have joysticks anymore?!)
Off to make busy with the day. Good wishes to Every Expendable.
Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 11/26 at 01:16 PM“It’s bigger than Bill’s. Right?...Right?”
Happy Birthday to Michele. Make Mickey take you somewhere nice!
It’s a Beautiful 65 degrees here.
I hope everyone that’s getting this warm weather can get out and enjoy it.
Peace!

“A very Merry Unbirthday to us! To us!”
Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 11/26 at 02:45 PMEnjoy your day today Michele.
I figure I’m disqualified from the caption contest this time around after receiving that Black Panthers dvd for the last contest (it arrived btw, Mickey), but I’ll give it a shot anyway:
“International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague? But I just met her!”
Captcha=bill, as in: it’s on us.
Posted by Keir on from The Gray Hague 11/26 at 03:46 PMRaining out.
What a pleasure-- lazy days on the computer.
I bet many here, including Zenprole, will appreciate this link about contempoarary Orwellian language:
Electric Politics has become one of my favorite sites to visit.
The commentary is fascinating and the homegrown interviews are better than most anything I’ve ever heard elsewhere.
I’ve a younger sister that just had a birthday. If there is some substance to astrology (and I’ve an older sister who thinks there is) then Michele must be an especially beautiful person.
Maybe I should get out in spite of the drizzle… or do some dishes.
Best to all.
Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 11/26 at 04:28 PMHappy Birthday Michele! Hope to see the two of you around sometime soon.
A photo as surreal/nauseating as the one here today makes me run to some sort of existentialist writing regarding the absurd… well okay, here’s this Kierkegaard one that I’m sure has been mentioned before here:
Aren’t people absurd! They never use the freedoms they do have but demand those they don’t have; they have freedom of thought, they demand freedom of speech.”
Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 11/26 at 05:31 PMHello, Expendables. Today is another unseasonably warm day in MA. There are hundreds of moths outdoors, another twisted reminder that we’ve left the stove on.
R. Livingston, re: adelphia: “Bot.” refers to botanical, I think. I also recommend Edward Herman’s “Beyond Hypocrisy” for its Doublespeak Dictionary. It might be posted online someplace…
Yaweh selling real estate that’s a terrifying photo! W looks like a composite of every dipshit American I’ve ever met. MZ, make the bad photo go away - it’s scaring the children.
Caption Sez: (Bush, curiously, in response to gales of laughter)"What?"
I’m gonna see that blank expression in my nightmares tonight...better put on another pot of coffee.
Here’s some retro joy: http://tinyurl.com/g8xq5
I got some Art of Noise CD’s a few weeks ago and they still sound excellent. You can’t fake skillz. The XMas shopping mania has begun. It’s a good thing the Fed is printing money 24-7. Oops! I wasn’t supposed to write that.
Send lawyers, guns, and Euros,
Zen ProlePosted by Zenprole on from Urth 11/26 at 06:31 PMHello again. We were out all day for Michele’s b’day (and she, of course, sez thanks for all the nice greetings). So, I’ll have to go through all the captions tomorrow.
Thanks everyone, for joining in.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 11/26 at 09:36 PMI am not good at captions, but that Robert Fisk CD sounds interesting, Mickey! And I know that I have recommended Fisk’s ‘The Great War for Civilisation’ before - a big book at 1,283 pages and appendices but well worth reading and so enlightening.
‘Hi’ to Michael, Brian (that photo really is horrific!), Rosemarie, Amelopsis, David, Robert B. Livingston, Keir, James and Zenprole - I hope to meet at least a few of you some day either here or there. Best wishes to you from Australia as well.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 11/26 at 11:49 PMBefore I forget: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELE! I hope Mickey spoilt you on your special day.
Heard this morning on our public broadcaster: ‘An Australian with an insider’s knowledge of the Iraq war, former SAS Major Peter Tinley, says Australia’s involvement in Iraq is a moral blunder, and that Australian troops should immediately be withdrawn.’
Now they’re speaking out - if the transcript becomes available, I’ll link to it.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 11/27 at 12:17 AMHello Expendables,
Zenprole sent me. Great place ya got here!Happy Bday Michelle.
Caption: “But Bill said they’d through flowers at our feet!? S’okay tho, Dick sez we’ll be fine ‘til ‘08- then tag! You’re it”
Now I think I’m gonna go throw-up.
