Charles Bukowski for President
Good morning from the Cone of Silence. The local newspaper is consistent, I can say that much about them. Today they ran another letter bashing me. They are not running many letters of support that I know they have. They have not run mine which was a correction to misinformation that they had published. The link is below to today’s letter. Google lists 71 newspapers that have run the AP story. My home town newspaper did not run it. There is a Cone of Silence here when it comes to any support. As you can see from today’s letter, the facts now have been so twisted that the letter writer thinks that I was the only one to protest that day, the day that millions around thew world were in streets from Paris to London. Has Vermont become the misinformation capital of the world?
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 12/19 at 09:53 AMHello Expendables.
RMJ: What’s quite interesting is that so many in America somehow perceive Vermont as “leftist” or “liberal.” If your state was so “out there,” this would be a good chance to prove it.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/19 at 10:03 AMGood morning, MZ and RMJ.
I love the Buk quotes, and the part about the Wobs is 1000% accurate. Thanks for the prompt, MZ - the complete interview is here: http://tinyurl.com/yzbdoy
And another possibly interesting bit:
http://tinyurl.com/ygjhxfRMJ, one of the few wise things my grandfather said was “Small town politics are worse.” This includes the press. Most local papers have been swallowed by big media, and they prove it every day. Don’t be let down by the Banner’s behavior - like most, they are a hireling of the Chamber of Commerce. Instead, share with us the nickname people have for it - in my hometown, the paper was called the “Emptyprize,” for ‘Enterprise.’ The Boulder, CO, paper is the “Daily Planet” (Daily Camera).
Additionally, my last few messages to potentially helpful media have included “the disinformation has begun,” so we can’t have the Banner falling down on the job. We’re pushing for a larger airing, and I can only hope they achieve as much embarrassment as the court. [Oh, my! Is this too subversive? Will Cool Observer be subpoenaed?
Thhppt!]Good News: the sky is clear and “Little Miss Sunshine” is out on DVD. (I don’t regard pushing indie films as consumer madness. Years ago, film used to be an important cultural outlet.

Posted by Zenprole on from Urth 12/19 at 10:56 AMIt is almost funny, RMJ...the tone of that letter is so childish and bratty.
“If you want attention, go to the Bennington Monument, go to the top and jump off.”
Are you kidding me?
Great post today...I’m sick of being called left or liberal...they have nothing to do with me.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 12/19 at 10:59 AMI have just learned what the emoticon is for raspberry. ‘Tongue-in-cheek’ was intended.
Posted by Zenprole on from Urth 12/19 at 11:00 AMmorning Zenprole…
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 12/19 at 11:01 AM“All I want to do is go home from work...”
That says so much, don’t you think? This is the mindset of the average American; the average American who is complicit in genocide.
Posted by Brian on from Belly of the Beast 12/19 at 11:48 AMAh, the freedom to live in a bubble, the most treasured freedom us Northerners have. Bravo to the Banner correspondent for articulating it so bravely. “Really”.
Posted by Mew on from london 12/19 at 12:42 PMHello again. In case anyone cares, I just walked ot the gym in shorts...on December 19...in NYC. That’s my global warming fact of the day.
Anyway, welcome to Zenprole, JOS, and Brian. Thanks for the Buk link. I’ll have more to say tomorrow about the “left” as I have a satirical piece just now making the rounds. The sad part is that liberals who have reacted think I’m being serious. (Why am I not surprised?)
Speaking of sad, I just found a chatroom that has decided to solicit insulting captions for a photo of RMJ. It’s all a big joke to them (and most Americans). Man, this pathetic country gets the social and political systems it asks for and deserves.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/19 at 12:46 PMSorry, Mew...simultyping.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/19 at 12:52 PMJOS, Mew, and Brian....I am glad you are here today. OK...I am feeling a little better now after seeing all of your comments. It is amazing how much a kind word can help. It has been a busy morning, phone calls of support that were nice, only one nasty e-mail with 4 letter words. The mailman delivered a nice surprise, perfect timing. Fiona sent a wonderful message of support, also the mother of a slain soldier (I have never met her) sent a very nice note of support. She has a vested interest in “peace”. Her son was killed in Iraq.
Mickey...I think that the image of Vermont as “Liberal” is very much a myth. I don’t know how it started, maybe years ago when one town at the other end of the state elected a socialist as mayor. Old myths persist even when reality would prove otherwise.
Zenprole...about small town politics, WOW you are right. Small State politics are even worse. As I often say, I would welcome a New Jersey style of Justice here. In NJ there are sometimes public officials who accept bribes. That is illegal and is sometimes prosecuted. Here cronyism is the major barrier to any kind of sanity in government. Cronyism is not illegal. It is encouraged by the system. In a recent Appeal to the VT Supreme Court I requested a comparable level of Justice to that which exists in China. I provided documentation showing that in VT some aspects of the system are inferior. The Justices were not impressed. My Appeal was denied.

Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 12/19 at 01:07 PMIt’s interesting that anyone could interpret RMJ’s actions as seeking attention. Reminds me of those who called Nader “egotistical” for running in 2004. Kerry was merely trying to make the world a better place but Nader was all about vanity.
Chalk that up as reason #376,922 why the “left” is its own worst enemy. Wait till you read tomorrow’s post. I published a tongue-in-cheek to-do list and almost every lefty who has read it thinks it’s real. I’m laughing until I cry.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 12/19 at 03:42 PMBukowski makes a lot of sense, Mickey! You really have a knack for quotes.
And ‘hi’ to all my other fellow expendables. Have to rush off now to do some shopping and other things, but wanted to call in briefly.
Another hazy day in Daylesford - due to the still raging bushfires, even if they are hundreds of kms away.
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 12/19 at 06:03 PMABC and other sources are reporting that the usa is planning to send more troops to Iraq. We here at Mickey’s are not surprised at that but I can’t help thinking about all of the elation among liberals right after the election. So many expected change because a few Dems won. Should we tell them “We told you so”.
My captcha word is “evidence”...used to be one of my favorite words. Now it just means, “That to be ignored in favor of pre-existing prejudices”, or here’s another definition, “That which only money can buy”.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 12/19 at 06:22 PMNow, we here had to know that this would happen...the secret love affair between the military and the usa school system has now been formally announced. The marriage is now official between The US Dept of Education and the Defense Dept. Picture a kid in kindergarten hearing about the virtues of cluster bombs and DU.

Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 12/19 at 06:44 PMGood Evening, fellow Expendables. Can someone relate how that nickname came to be?
MZ, can’t wait to read your satire. Some thought the Cockburn quotes in my recent one were real. I consider that paydirt, in an environmentally correct meaning of that term. The Godfather (one of them): http://tinyurl.com/bbume
For the namby-pamby everywhere:
So I pose a proposition
take a look, be in support or opposition
then be proactive, proceed with confidence
‘cause you know that you can’t change shit by ridin’ the fence
- The Coup, “Ride The Fence”I don’t know diddly about rap, but The Coup are the real thing...politically the equal of Rage Against The Machine.
