Rocky Balboa and tears of joy

Posted by Mickey Z on 12/26 at 08:39 AM
  1. I saw Rocky Balboa and I know what you are talking about. I loved it. I remember the 1st one and this one was just as good. 3, 4, & 5 were really bad so it was nice to see it finished up like this. My favorite part was when he took Mason’s best shot and came back for more. I agree with you that life is seldom like that. Very few people get to live the life they want.

    Peace!

  2. Haven’t seen the flick yet (saw “The Good Shepherd” last night...feh!), but this is a wonderfully honest post MZ.

Sorry I can’t be around here more . . . I forgot to bring the power adapter to my computer with me to the States, so my time behind the screen for the next few weeks is (otherwise) happily limited. End-of-calendar-year greetings to all Expendables.

  3. Greetings David and Mickey.
Keir, I thought that there were good vibes in the country....must be because you are here.

On the other hand, the hate speech continues in Vermont. Rumors, innuendo, ad hominem attacks are on the rise.  Remember the well-known short story, “The Lottery”. It was written up here, about the local culture, by Shirley Jackson. Her son who still lives in the area protested with us back in 1991. Well, I am feeling like I am living that story today.

My captcha word is “stood”. Yep, that’s what I did. I stood and occupied approx 12 square inches of public space for approx 15 minutes. Compare that to occupying Iraq, Deigo Garcia, Guantanamo. etc.

650,000 dead bodies + 500,000 dead children + an unknown number of others who were slaughtered in the continuing bombings since 1991. Some estimates put the total at 3 million.

  4. Nice! I totally thought RB would be a movie MZ would like! Funny how different perspectives give different understandings of people. I’ve been reading your blog since July 04 when I first heard you interviewed on Jeff Rense. What keeps me coming back is that you in some way have come to represent to me the very ideals you feel are lacking in your life.  Your a self published poet/author who hasn’t made any compromises in your way of thinking or lifestyle choices in spite of overwhelming odds and opinions against you. Your able to not only make a living but also provide time and inspiration to hundreds if not thousands of strangers everyday through your blog. Your not only well spoken, your intelligent, well read and have an excellent sense of irony and humour.  On top of it all your happily married and keep yourself in great shape. Personally I feel you have every right to let loose with some joi de vie every once in a while, you’ve already achieved more right now, then I feel I can achieve in my life.

Honestly, this isn’t knocking myself down at all. I would be long dead today if I hadn’t found my own reasons to live with joy in such a screwed up world. Nothing gives the old heart chakra a good kick in the nads like tears of joy.  I try to hit that note within myself at least once a week if possible. Helps keep me sane in this insane world. I have a tremendous amount of good fortune and love in my life that I never thought I would achieve. It would be wrong for me not to acknowledge it because I’m to upset by all the injustice, hate and evil in this world.

So I have to disagree with you man, Tears of Joy do exist and Rocky ain’t got nothing on you. He just went up against one man, You and all of us are up against a system and the fight aint over till were all 6 feet under.  Keep up the good work everyone! Don’t let the man get you down! smile

  5. I haven’t seen this flick either, Mickey - will have to look for it in our two video stores.

‘Hi’ to David, Keir, Rosemarie and Luna_C - from a still cool Daylesford.  Must say I prefer 68F to 100, though ..

  6. You really nail it down, Luna_C - how right you are in your description of Mickey and his blog:
‘What keeps me coming back is that you in some way have come to represent to me the very ideals you feel are lacking in your life.  Your a self published poet/author who hasn’t made any compromises in your way of thinking or lifestyle choices in spite of overwhelming odds and opinions against you. Spot-on!

All best for all you expendables.

  8. Hello my fellow Expendables. It’s been colder in Texas than it was in NYC.

I’m glad to see so many still hanging out here...even with the holidaze and me not being around as much to reply. It’s been a very up-and-down visit for us here.

  9. Luna: I deeply, deeply appreciate your kind words and your support. Without exaggerartion, the past two years have been the toughest of my life and there’s absoutely no reason to believe 2007 won’t be just as bad. Thus, it’s extremely important to me when I get feedback such as yours. Thanks, my friend.

  10. P.S. RMJ, I’m curious to know what you plan to do, re: your re-trial. Will you be needing a legal fund?

  11. rmj, I’m sure it will have no effect, but I wrote a ltte in response to the bit of ignorance in the opinion you linked in. I had a good laugh at his contradictions and his claim that your occupying your own space infringed on the civil liberties of anyone else. wiki, my man, wiki. it is all at your fingertips. even bush has been able to find the google and search the internets.

mickey, sorry to hear that the past 2 years have been rough and you’re looking at another difficult one. I’m a new reader, but already I am feeling some of what luna expressed. If it helps to make the effort seem worth it, you are reaching a lot of people, and least one or two will pause to think. ;)
