"Deep Thoughts," by Mickey Z.
Good morning, Mickey and all yet to arrive here today. “We have no control over how we got here”. It seems to me that the statistical chances of any one of us, with our unique combination of DNA, getting here might be less than zero. I don’t know what that means. Maybe it means that by our very existence we have beaten the odds....or does that mean that we have lost the gamble. Blissful non-existence might have been better???
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 01/16 at 08:49 AMVery true Mickey and like most things worthwhile, more easily said than done.
One thing I know: You can never have enough cow-bell
Those deep thoughts are so entertaining that I’m going to peruse them through the day instead of all at once.
Thanks for the funny start to my day (after pondering the meaning of my life)
Most people don’t realize that large pieces of coral, which have been painted brown and attached to the skull by common wood screws, can make a child look like a deer.Posted by Amelopsis on from Canada 01/16 at 09:30 AMMorning all!
Thanks for that bit of laughter Mickey! I loved this one: “Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: “Mankind”. Basically, it’s made up of two separate words - “mank” and “ind”. What do these words mean ? It’s a mystery, and that’s why so is mankind.”

Posted by JOS on from Chicago 01/16 at 11:00 AMHello Expendables. The temperatures are in freefall here in Astoria. Tomorrow should finally feel like winter.
Glad to see today’s post struck a chord or two.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 01/16 at 12:07 PMIce, freezing rain, and more Canadian cold air here in Austin...won’t stretch much above freesing today. Ahhhh.
Like Jack Handy, if life’s a joke, the punch line eludes me. Doesn’t stop me from giggling a lot, though.
Hey MZ, where’s your 2006 NaNo winner icon? I see the “Click to Give” and I see the 2005 icon...not as proud this year?

Posted by JOS on from Chicago 01/16 at 02:45 PMHello again...I see JOS is loving the Handy link.
Mudge: I did ask Nancy to post that icon, but she’s been very busy. It’ll be here soon...along with a new GIF of yours truly (courtesy of Expendable Luna).
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 01/16 at 03:40 PMBtw, Mudge, what’s the latest with your new gig?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 01/16 at 03:43 PMyes, I was laughing out loud at my desk this morning.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 01/16 at 04:19 PMHi Mickey, I’m a fan of yours and political activist and songwriter. I admire your work and send it around. Just read your latest that arrived in my email about artistic extremism, but wasn’t Pollock funded by the CIA or something, to counter Soviet realism?
I’m a creative extremist myself, though in reality I consider the extremists to be the ones who order bombs to be dropped for greed, that seems an extreme way to make a living.
Anyway here are Six Extremely Political Songs to Listen to, Download, and Send Around. Perhaps you know somebody who would like ‘Fallujah’ or the others.. All are free to download, go to links below. Thanks again for all your work,
