For 2008, it's Rudy Giuliani vs. Osama bin Laden

  1. Ron Paul for President!

  2. It totally makes sense, that is, if he wants to be President of 9/11.

“My fellow citizens of 9/11, today I will make you a promise,” said Giuliani during his 18-minute announcement speech in front of a charred and torn American flag. “As president of 9/11, I will usher in a bold new 9/11 for all.”

  4. America the easily deluded:

When Rudy emerges, Jan Mercieri, the wife of a local fire chief, asks him to autograph Portraits: 9/11/01, the New York Times book of short biographies of the 9/11 dead. Giuliani signs, Mercieri gets teary, and they embrace. Mercieri is then deluged by the media pack. What did he say? What did he write? What does she think about his stance on abortion? “Those issues don’t matter,” said Mercieri. “After 9/11, I’d vote for him in a second.”

(From the New York Magazine article)

  5. Pres. Giuliani...it’ll never happen. Too ethnic. Like Pres. Obama. Ain’t gonna happen. The spooky skull n bones types will prevent it. If it ain’t Anglo-Dutch, it ain’t gonna be president. I bet expendable Owen has some thoughts on this…

PS: Mickey, officially scooping you on another great piece over at ZNet…

  6. Hello Expendables...from a sunnier, warmer Astoria.

Rudy sure provokes a reaction, huh? Welcome to the site Jason from Greenpoint. Hope you’ll make it a regular stop.

JOS: I can sure relate to your poem. Do you remember his press conferences?

Keir: I’ll post that article here tomorrow.

  7. the guy’s a psycho.

  8. and tries to play it off by dressing up like a woman.

  9. One of the requirements for residency in the White House, JOS.

  10. The psycho part...not the cross-dressing. That’s reserved for FBI Directors.

  11. And that’s not meant to disparage crossdressers, btw. Just a joke.

Btw, Jeremy, sorry I missed you up there. I dunno about Ron Paul. Libertarians make me awfully nervous.

  12. Rudy would never be able to take the NY vote. He’s got the rest of the country conned, but they know better.

  13. The thought of Giuliani becoming the nominee for president makes my head hurt more. However, I’ve never seen him in a debate; I’m most familiar with his diktats and close personal relationship with the police state.

If there’s some sort of upside to this, someone please post it.

I’m reading Gore Vidal’s second memoir, “Point To Point Navigation.” Quotes in a day or two.

  14. Hey Thomas and Zen Prole. I guess I also doubt Rudy will go far but, again, how much does it matter if it’s him or McCain or Edwards or Kid Rock? It’s not as if any of the “major” candidates is preaching systemic overall.

Btw, I missed much of last night’s later conversations and wanted to say a quick hello to Fiona, say thanks to David for his amazing open-mindedness and never-ending transformations, and invite James to continue the vegan conversation.

If I missed anyone, I apologize.

  15. Me again...with a quick anecdote. I was working with a client this morning and the gym’s TV was tuned to CNN. I looked up as they started a story about potential talks involving Iraq, Iran, and Syria. The caption CNN ran read as follows:

    Iraq’s Neighbors:
    Helpful or Evil?

  16. I am almost speechless but wanted to say just one thing:  I thought Rudy Giuliani was a ‘has-been’.  He seems quite ‘liberal’ on issues such as abortion or gay rights, though ..

Hi, Cool Observer, Jeremy, Jason, JOS, Keir, Thomas McCullock and Zen Prole.  Take care of yourselves.

And one last thing re Mickey #11:  Libertarians make me awfully nervous, too!

  17. Thanks, Helga. I think if it weren’t for 9/11, the whole country would view Rudy as a has-been.

  18. There’s not a soul in government I trust more than Ron Paul (that’s not necessarily saying a lot, but it’s worth something). He’s got the right stance on aggressive war (being opposed to it) and on the FED (recognizing it for the fraud it is), by far the two most important issues as far as I’m concerned.

Why do Libertarians make you nervous, MZ? Just curious, because I think I actually fit neater into the “Libertarian” category than any other party on the ballot. At least, Republicans, Democrats, Communists, and Socialists make me far more nervous. I voted for Michael Badnarik last pres. election.

BTW, go to archive.org and search for badnarik. He’s got a great 7 part class on the Constitution I think everyone should see.
