Donald Rumsfeld vs. The Pentagon?

Posted by Mickey Z on 03/25 at 06:36 AM
  1. Can we save the Pentagon by destroying it?

  2. Why do we need the pentagon?...who needs rummy?
Rummy could be prosecuted and sent to a real prison. The pentagon could be bulldozed and an orchard planted in its place. Apples, pears, peaches, cherries, etc.

  3. Hello Expendables. The sun is fighting against the clouds here...much like Rummy taking on the Pentagon.

JOS: Only if we are trying to save it from itself.

Joe: How about an organic vegetable garden?

  4. Rumsfeld says: “It’s the Pentagon bureaucracy. I have no desire to attack the Pentagon; I want to liberate it.” Liberating the pentagon from the adherence to fixed rules and a hierarchy of authority.
Seems like Bush has the same idea with the whitehouse. Ditto Cheney and his office.
Meanwhile Latin American and African peoples are suffering under the privitization of water.  What a freakin nightmare! Redirecting the water from rural areas into tourist resorts and cities, bottling it and selling it back. No $$ no water. What water remains available to rural communities is far away and severly polluted by industry and agri-business.
How long did it take for north Americans to lose jobs after NAFTA was signed?  How long will it be before we are forced to purchase water?

In regards to Iran, I am still thinking about this

I was so blown away by the bombing of Lebanon and the diabolical evilness of it.  There must be a much larger agenda to “all of this” than most are willing to openly contemplate.

  5. Frances you stated:
“There must be a much larger agenda to “all of this” than most are willing to openly contemplate”

I don’t know if it’s important to know these kinds of details...the fact remains there are barbarians killing people and lying about why they are slaughtering entire cultures. I think these same people would be destructive even if there were no intentional reason to bomb other countries to have routes for pipelines, waterlines, test weapons, control real estate, resources, exploit others, etc. I’m sure some are simply enjoying the savage feeling of domination and murder!

  6. Hi JOS, Joe, Mickey, and frances…
Sorry, I just can’t help myself. He might have killed a lot of people but he DOES have a way with words. There are some Rumsfeldisms that I really like a lot. Here is my second favorite.

“Death has a tendency to encourage a depressing view of war.”

  7. I like this one:

"I would not say that the future is necessarily less predictable than the past. I think the past was not predictable when it started."

  8. Speaking of bombing Lebanon:

  9. That’s a good one, Mickey. Here is my favorite.

“As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don’t know we don’t know.” D.R.

  10. JOS...we hit the jack pot here with the exact same timing. I think we deserve a prize.
Your link is a good one there in #8. The facts were well known before this but his admission is significant. The photos there add to my hatred of anyone who kills children. Sorry, I know that we are not supposed to hate anyone, but I do hate those who kill civilians. Anyone who can look at those photos and not be emotionally moved to anger, must be already dead.

  11. Maybe what the pentagon needs is more scenes like this. It’s like she’s on display on a pedestal!--

  17. “I would not say that the future is necessarily less predictable than the past. I think the past was not predictable when it started.”

that sounds more like a George Bushism. But then again, in all fairness, the meaning of the quote depends on the context, maybe it was only meant to be a filler or lead-in kind of sentence in a conversation. Though I am not sure he’s all that spiritual or deep / nuanced a speaker.

But taken out of context its like the GB export import quote.

The known unknowns quote tried to categorize something that is verbally tricky, so its not that bad. (I have no clue what the context was though)
