Easter Weekend Triple Feature (with: Bill Hicks, Dick Cheney, and the Big Bunny)
Well, I never read the bible...I did see the movie ‘IF’...simple story about the church/state/military always one and what happens...IF...1968...made in 1967, I think? Recommend book, ‘The Great Cosmic Mother’
Posted by joe of maine on from 04/07 at 10:25 AMIt’s quiet at CO today...must be resting up for some serious resurrection action on the morrow.
Joe is correct about “The Great Cosmic Mother” (original title: “The First God"). It will school you about patriarchy, hierarchy, the environment, and western civ.
This is a brilliant mockery: http://tinyurl.com/36sqd8
Have recently discovered the books of one Mike Davis, who appears to have both a sense of humor and sharp political vision: http://tinyurl.com/2ye7n5
DVD pick for the weekend: The Original Kings Of Comedy. Seven years on and it’s still sharp.
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 04/07 at 02:59 PMHi Joe and Zen....maybe everyone is resting up for a serious insurrection on the morrow.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 04/07 at 03:30 PMHello Expendables...from rainy, damp Dubya Land. So...where is everyone?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Dubya Land 04/07 at 05:30 PMworking… i have 15 min at home and turn around… here is myfavoritε video of the week (best wishes and health to all):

Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 04/07 at 08:18 PMWow, Robert that video was the missing link for my week. A series of small conversational opportunities have occured that have left me feeling very good about speaking my mind, rather than keeping my thoughts to myself. “Nothing to lose” is the phrase that comes to mind, partly because most people arent really listening to begin with. They hear and see what they want to.
And now I understand a bit more about why; people who prove themselves by having (’things’ as well as ‘facts’) dont mesh very well with people who prove they are themselves by being.
Thanks for the intro to Bill Hicks, Mickey. His social commentary is very refreshing. What a great role model for telling it like it is.
We had to haul the kids ass out of jail again, this time for throwing rocks at passing cars with 2 of his buddies. No charges, I think teens do this alot. I believe its the ‘broad spectrum’ influence of global shit happening and they act it out. The haves are busy fighting to have more and are lowering the vibrational engery of the planet ensuring they will have to keep fighting to have more.
Call me a hedonist but this seems like it might be worth trying:
http://tinyurl.com/yegpynPosted by frances on from british columbia 04/07 at 09:34 PMThe above suggestion for peace seems a little naive and overly light-hearted when confronted with the horrifying reality of the US legal system today. NO one is safe. And something tells me it wont end anytime soon.

Would he kowtow to the banker’s military men?Ask Jesus, were you ‘Born to Kill,’ have wrath;
There’s another name for you;
You’re called a psychopath!Jesus ever preach sermons of death: mothers send your children to wars;
Let them commit murder, maim, rape and carnage afars;
Leave deep, permanent scars.Would Jesus ever napalm a village in Iraq, or Vietnam;
Gun down little kids in Baghdad, Kabul, or Surinam;
Clusterbomb Afghan weddings in apparent sham?Did Jesus ever bow to the moneylenders?
Would he kowtow to the banker’s military men?Would Jesus drive a Humvee, Ford Excursion for joy;
Cheat whores, snort cocaine and fly a fighter plane for toy;
Wear a golden crown, or live in the palace of Vatican as decoy?Would Jesus rape the Maori woman, Kill the Aborigines for their land;
Shoot the ‘sand-niggers’ in the abdomen;
Round up the black man, mow down the Red Indian?Would Jesus nuke the people of Japan;
Decimate Filipinos, Koreans, and ‘gooks’ in Vietnam;
Slaughter the Buddhist, Muslims, Jews, gypsies and the Brahman?Did Jesus ever bow to the moneylenders?
Would he kowtow to the banker’s military men?Would Jesus ever play golf, watch TV, read the ridicule;
Drive an SUV instead of riding a mule;
Shoot the Iraqis to get their fuel?Would Jesus commit genocide in Africa, Asia and S. America;
Bomb El Salvador, Haiti, Chile, Angola, Granada and Panama;
Kill the ‘insurgents’ in Afghanistan, Iraq, Guatemala, Peru… and Nicaragua?Let Israel bomb the holy lands of Palestine;
Tanks crush the old and young, burst their intestine;
Steal rest of their land, water, dignity cline?Would Jesus lure everyone in the US and UK, Poland and Australia;
Egg on the tortured soles in Italy, Spain, New Zealand and Canada:
‘Bring them on’, now gather a ‘Judeo-Christian’ death Armada!Did Jesus ever bow to the moneylenders?
Would he kowtow to the banker’s military men?Would Jesus ever vouch for a ‘Fundamental Christian,’
Could he, himself, be a Baptist, Roman Catholic, even a Mormon;
Surely not a Methodist, nor a Presbyterian?Would he forgive the Iraq killing,
Assassinate little kids and their sibling,
Shoot Martin Luther King?Why all this has such familiar sonorous ring:
Murderous, cruel, evil gang of the willing;
Ugly, wholly inhuman thing.Did Jesus ever bow to the moneylenders?
Would he kowtow to the banker’s military men?Posted by Billy Shake-the-spear on from 04/08 at 01:35 AMA long-awaited memo from God to a reformed Smurfican Bishop
URGENT!To all of whom they claim to represent me:
Ye morons and halfwits, the earth is burning, Armageddon is nigh. How dare thou continue to deceive my children?
Thou are meant to protect the poor and stick it to the rich; not the other way round. Don’t screw the meek, ye minor demons!
How dare thou falsify the Bible? Who added the following evil verses to my Book? Why hast thou turned My Text into Abu Ghraib operations manual?
1. References to kill, murder, slay, smite, annihilate ~ 2,058 times.
2. Reference to torture, rape, cruelty, pain, blood, eat their dung and urine ~ 2,783 times.
3. References to Satan, devil, wickedness, whores ~ 1,246 times.Email Angel G. immediately and get an update for My sake, before I rain upon thee brimstone and fire from out of heaven, ye cruel ostriches in the wilderness!
Posted by a reformed Smurfican Bishop on from 04/08 at 02:09 AMIf Christians actually read their Bibles, they would note that Yahweh commands them in Deuteronomy, “Thou shalt not worship Yahweh they God in the manner in which the pagans worship their gods.”
Instead, historically what happened is they looked at pagan worship and adopted it. Hence celebrating the birth of Yeshua in the middle of winter at the solstice (the rebirth of the sun becoming the birth of the Son) and the resurrection celebrated with pagan rituals and symbols of fertility.
All of this, of course, is an apostasy. You can point this out and point to God’s commandment in the Bible in which he says DON’T adopt pagan rituals and traditions to worship ME by, and point out that, logically, since God says DON’T DO IT, God must therefore not find it to be acceptable worship, but it doesn’t phase most Christians in the least.
Yeshua had something to say also about people clinging to traditions whilst rejecting the law of God. These messages are loud and clear in the Bible, but most Christians pretend not to understand.
Posted by Jeremy R. Hammond on from Taipei, Taiwan 04/08 at 02:46 AMBible? I got your Bible right here. But then again, God is imaginary.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Dubya Land 04/08 at 08:08 AMAnd a HAPPY INSURRECTION DAY to all. The Pope has condemned the “slaughter” in Iraq, and ABC news is reporting that an anti-war group is having children collect make-believe cluster bombs instead of Easter eggs, as an example of what some children face. I am off to attend a VFP meeting - no jelly beans or chocolate eggs there.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 04/08 at 08:12 AMJeremy you are exactly right most Christians pretend not to understand. People would rather be comfortable and told what to ‘believe’ than think for themselves. People seem to have plenty of room for dogma, indoctrination and ritual, but very little room for truth. Leaders keep hammering away with their messages of hope and fear and prescribing repetitive rituals and prayers and the followers just eat it up. People focus on the outward form; that which can be infered, rather than the inner content; that which can be preceived.
Posted by frances on from bc 04/08 at 08:29 AMHappy Resurrinsurection Day, best wishes to all Zs in Texas, and take a look at this if you haven’t seen it:

Posted by James on from Hell's Kitchen 04/08 at 02:06 PMThanks for this nod to Australia, Mickey! The way things are going, we might become the 51st or 52nd State any time soon.
And Happy Easter to Joe, Zen Prole, Rosemarie, Robert B. Livingston, Frances, Billy Shake-the-Spear, Jeremy R. Hammond and James.
Take care of yourselves and of your nearest and dearest!
Posted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 04/08 at 08:13 PMI forgot the ‘Reformed smurfican Bishop’- Happy Easter to you as well.
And thanks for the link to the ‘list of biblical contradictions’, Mickey. Sam Harris in his ‘Letter to a Christian Nation’ makes much the same points - a great book.
