File this one under "Counterintuitive"

  1. Good morning all...many “thank you’s” to any who noticed my absence here. I have been in Pennsylvania doing family things...celebrating my Mother’s 96th birthday etc. While there I thought a lot about Mickey’s Mother. I accompanied my sister on a medical appointment. She was diagnosed with peritoneal/ovarian cancer when she was 52. Now 7 years later, she is doing fine. She is on Cisplatinum and Gemzar for 2 successive Mondays and then off all treatment for 4 weeks. I know that every case is different but maybe that will give some hope to someone out there.

Also while in the hills of Pennsylvania, I was happy one day to see in the little local newspaper a full page devoted to the usa war crimes in NoGunRi. On the long drive back home, I listened to talk radio. The misunderstanding of the Virginia killings was mind-boggling. I became so engrossed in the misinformation coming from my car radio that I missed the exit to the NY Thruway...that was OK. I took the Taconic State Parkway instead. I think that the best information about current news and its analysis is right here at Mickey’s. I am serious about that. Last night O’Rielly did a diatribe about a comment on the Internet, maybe Counterpunch. Someone there blogged something about the usa killing in Iraq and how those lost lives are ignored compared to the victims in Virginia. O’Reilly had a real meltdown. I am often asked why I listen to the right/left wing hate mongers. I think it is important to see why and how the usa average guy gets his misinfo.
Yesterday the Vermont Senate passes a resolution calling for the Impeachment of Bush/Cheney. It sends a message to our 3 men in Washington but none of them will follow thru. Even the former Socialist, Senator Bernie, will not take action. Maybe Washington is the place that can transform a Socialist into just another Repub/Dem.

  2. Good Morning RMJ where were you in Pennsylvania...and Mickey give that lady my email address...it’s men like me who are wild in bed…

And to all...prosecute now the war criminals now...impeach later...!

  3. Hi Joe… I was in the mountains north of Wilkes-Barre. Got snow-bound there on Monday. 12 inches.

I have been saying all along that Impeachment is just a diversion, a red herring. We need to start the war crimes trials immediately. If necessary, Try them in absentia first, and then make the citizens’ arrests later. No one in Congress will do it because they are complicit in the crimes and should be included in the prosecutions. It will have to be done by the people. No one who voted for the funding of this war should be allowed to walk free. Lock them all up (or give them the Nuremberg treatment) so they cannot slaughter any more innocent civilians. “Hopeless, helpless, and lost”, a quote today from the family. That describes the usa. Estimates go up to 3 million killed by the usa in Iraq since 1991. Mourning 33 deaths, while at the same time ignoring 3 million deaths - someone out there explain that logic to me.

  4. Yes...RMJ...The various war tribunals, do a search, you’ll find them, Brussells well noted and for Vietnam as well...have all stated the crimes and the guilty persons. All the world’s governments appear to be in bed together or feel threatened???by the DC freaks...no one seems to want to take any responsibility for our war criminals...least of all americans...yet there always seems to be a news commentary somewhere to speak about other war criminals of the past...how nostalgic they are…

  5. Lovely to see RMJ back, I hope you enjoyed your time away from the Internet (I always do).

Counterintuitive, hmm. What isn’t counterintuitive besides going to sleep these days? I just set up a myspace account for myself and my new trio. Myspace is the most counterintuitive thing I can possibly imagine a musician doing for many many reasons. But I had to recognize that all of my colleagues. all over the world, are volunteering to use this stupid, mediated mode of restricted communication. I hate it, and it makes me hate “promoting” myself as a musician (I always have).

Found this gem in last month’s Harper’s:

“One of the first things I educated myself to purchase with hard-earned money is other people’s good taste.”

  6. Hi Keir...You are looking very good at your new site. You are lucky I am so old or I would be in hot pursuit. I was happy to see Charlie Parker mentioned there. He is a favorite. I could not hear you because Microsoft kept disconnecting me from the Internet. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

  7. Hello Expendables...from a very summer-like Astoria. In line with my main post today, there are many skimpy outfits on display today.

Welcome back, RMJ. Hello, Joe and Keir.

  8. good to see rmj back. hello everyone

i don’t know if this is a counter-intuituve tale or not but since friday i seem to have had some sort of strange brainstorm.

since i got home i have been staying at my aunts (no parents to speak of..long story) and whilst they have been wonderful to have me and i am eternally grateful it is maddening not to have your own space. however, they have gone for the weekend but since i have had the place to myself i just havent been able to take anything seriously at all.

i have spent most of this weekend doing looking at bizarre rather than serious stories and seeing how the dog reacts to various tunes on the stereo.

the only fruits of the research so far are that dogs tend to react to genres more than tracks individually and that this dog is just about the most placid dog in the world unless she sees a squirrel. she obviously thinks squirrels are scum and should be eliminated

sorry. i just cant take anything seriously this weekend. i don’t know why.

  9. maybe counter intuitive is for a radical to go all soft and talk about cute dogs..sorry this is making me laugh. i have never posted about anything cute ever.

i just always wanted a dog. bizarrely, i just got back from korea where they do eat them altho it is a special occasion thing. even tho they eat them they still have them as pets.

this one is a retriever..like this..

one of my joke theories was a solution to global warming… everyone is issued with two huskies and a skateboard… ‘MOOSH’ - u know how it works.

this would seem to be a perfect solution, the dogs like it, no emissions, the only waste products can be used as fertiliser.

the only possible problem is that at a certain time of year things might get a bit heated at the traffic lights.

  13. Several years ago when I was working as a theatre technician, I had two seventeen year old apprentice/trainee techies helping out on a show. We were removing sections of the stage, etc. Anyway, they were discussing the merits of a new product called Zima (malt beverage). I asked them what it was like and they said I ought to try it-it had a nice kick. I replied that since I was a recovering alcoholic it was unlikely I would be sampling it any time soon. Quiet descended over our little work area and they looked at each other and then one of them looked at me and said, “You mean you’re like THIS without drugs and alcohol? Wow!”

    I was delighted.

  14. good link mickey.

the evolution of dogs and humans has gone on for so long that in some ways it has become symbiotic. their moods can depend on ours and ours on them.

lots of studies done on this and it seems to be true. the two species have been working together for a LONG time, far longer than biblical nonsense

  15. Yes...Michael...I think humans could learn more from an English Pointer than any dog could from humans. Vibrations, sounds of the universe, feel, sense…

  16. Surprisingly pleasant and refreshing conversation today from a bunch of doom and gloomers.

    Welcome back, RMJ...we missed you.

Michael, I have been living with an aunt and uncle for about a year now and I hear you about getting some alone time, despite the fact that they are two of my favorite people in the world.

They actually take care of a black lab that used to live with my family...it’s nice to have her around even though she is getting old...mostly deaf, half blind, but still as beautiful as ever.

  19. That’s some funny shit MZ.

Right back atcha Rosemarie. How am I supposed to maintain a grumpy doom and gloom facade when you flirt with me like that? I’m spoken for, my dear.

  20. Hi All
Counterintuitive? Here’s one about paying your fare:
[Tagged as “military jokes,” by the way]

    http://jokes.federal.ro/joke/1432.htm

A man joins the crew of a ship. After a few days he gets restless and asks “What does one do about sex around here?”

The others direct him to a large gun barrel with a hole in it. At first he does not like the idea much but, when he tries it, he finds it surprisingly enjoyable. He has another go the next day, and again the day after.

Then he asks, “Can I do this every day?”.
    “Yes, every day, except Wednesdays”.
    “Why not on Wednesdays?”
“Wednesdays is YOUR turn inside the barrel!”

It certainly look that way, doesn’t it!

Here are two verdicts against ‘Caligula Mark II’:

Tokyo: Bush and US Found Guilty of War Crimes

    http://www.opednews.com/arvey031604_bush_war_Crimes.htm

“Although he passed long ago, I wonder how he would react to the March 13, 2004 findings of a citizen’s International Criminal Tribunal for Afghanistan at Tokyo, The People v. George W. Bush. After a two year investigation, the tribunal has found President Bush guilty of war crimes resultant to US attacks against Afghanistan in 2001. 21. Hi RMJ, welcome back.

On the shootings, the school actually had a sister school here in Taiwan. Well, these two lawmakers got the idea to have a “drill” there in which a similar attack was simulated, presumably to test the response of the authorities. Well, they didn’t inform anyone about their intentions: not the school, not the campus authorities, not the police. People were freaking out and then these two guys were like, “Oh, no, don’t worry, it’s just a drill.”

I don’t no, maybe some people think that’s all cool, but it enrages me. I think they should be removed from their positions immediately for such wrecklessness. But nobody seems to care.
