Our shared legacy

Posted by Mickey Z on 05/13 at 08:46 AM
  1. Good Morning Mickey and everyone...I agree with ‘our shared legacy’...the way we live, the shared attitude about our relation to the other parts of the earths eco-system..very destructive. Well today is a clear, sunny day on the coast of Maine. The North Atlantic looks wonderful and is always available for depositing politicians. It’s a perfect day to go to the local Wal-Mart and buy plastic lawn furniture. I am especially fond of the all white, with molded in fake basket weave on the seat. It gives me that warm, all natural, down on the farm feeling. I buy the type the deteriorates quickly so I can soon look forward to buying new plastic lawn furniture. My plastic furniture matches my 235 neighbors lawn furniture. Also we all have the same Hell-Roaring Model propane barbecue grill with the fake wood side table. We like to have the same things. It eliminates having to think and especially think independently...Well have a lovely day...I’m off to buy gas for the car. I don’t fill up the gas tank. I only buy $135.00 worth at a time. This should last until tomorrow morning.....PROSECUTE ALL POLITICIANS AND CORPORATE CEO’S!

  2. Hi Mickey and everyone, just quickly dropping by to tell you that I really liked your article titled America, Land of Denial. Anyways, I really gotta run but hopefully will talk later.

    Cheers.

  3. I would like to see a 24 hour tv channel devoted to exposing Israel’s actions of genocide.  All day every day.  Its our “shared legacy” and root cause of many of the worlds problems.
there is something very mysterious/hideous going on that Israel can continue on as it is, unchecked, in full view, and not one world power will address it directly.
    Israel breaks all the records:

  4. Frances..3...I agree completely with you about this Usrael issue...I don’t understand either how the world can stand by and watch the insanity by Usrael...and still little is even said? I guess the political parasites of all countries belong on the bottom of the Sea.

  6. more.
US Naval Base Coronado, outside San Diego, CA, forms the image of a Nazi Swastika. A simple search at Google Earth reveals a large complex of four buildings that are indeed arranged to re-create the Swastika, the symbol of Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.

I checked it out myself at google earth.  The heavy black lines around the buildings are shadow and foliage, not photoshop.

  7. Happy Mother’s day to all the Moms. This is an especially difficult one for me but I know if it hadn’t been for my Mom i wouldn’t have made it through all I’ve gone through in the last month. I made a stupid decision that almost cost me everyone I hold dear. It still may but I am trying to set things right. Moms are precious because they love you no matter what. I hope your Mom is doing better Mickey.

    Peace!

  8. For David #7...I don’t know if it helps you to know...as I get older and wiser...my decisions are just as stupid as when I was young and dumb!

  9. Cheers to all the Expendable moms and the moms of all Expendables, and perhaps especially to David’s mom, who is giving support he needs. Hang in there.

Hey: some great stuff from Paul Street over here. Rosemarie you’ll be happy to see Street going a step past simple impeachment. He’s also taking a step closer to the thing Jensen says in Endgame that I alluded to in the last post…

  10. Derrick Jensen rocks - and so do you, Mickey!  I hope all is going really well in Texas.  Loved your Mother’s Day piece you linked to on Friday btw.

‘Hi’ to Joe of Maine (that ‘clear, sunny day on the coast of Maine’ sounds very appealing), Ehtesham, frances (your picture really is worth more than 1000 words), David and Keir.

  11. Hello Expendables. I’m glad to see so many of you hanging around here. Things are going well down here...all things considered. Moving, as I’m sure you all know, is a fluid process.

    Anyway, I’ll check back soon.

  12. You know Helga, part of me feels very ashamed to have posted that picture.  There is something almost pornagraphic about it.  Everything about it, the grinning unhuman characters dancing alongside a traumatized, naked, and orphaned child, is so very wrong. And a weird thing happens to my thinking mind when I looked at it; tonnes of information streaming in but I was left speechless. I found that pic on a photo blog without words or notes to put it in anyone elses context.  I was blown away.
It speaks to me about the ruthless pursuit of corporate wealth on the one hand and the propaganda that is necessary to cover-up the crimes commited in the pursuit of that wealth.
It speaks to me of the attempt to keep children of priveledged nations dumbed down about history and the true source of much of their countries wealth and status.  there is the contrariness: so much food but its all diabetes and disease inducing garbage that pollutes the earth and impoverishes the soul.  It speaks to me about the world bank and corporate piracy and entire nations that are becoming ghettos.  Criminal insanity at large and running unchecked.
I believe there will a heavy price/burden for all of us to bear for many generations to come. The one-eyed leading the blind.  The wounded healing the sick.  for many generations.
What skills of heart mind and body do we need to be cultivating right now?  In ourselves and our offspring?

  13. Good mourning, Frances ref: 12

I think we need to abandon ship. Put our emotions our thinking our efforts into developing healthy, self-sufficient small communities. Any size is a start, a start is a start. It’s all too big, too corrupt, too overwhelming and I believe our thinking about all the dirty deeds becomes an obstacle any real progress. It is sad that we don’t have magical wands or words so we can stop wars, heal everyone, immediately transform everyone’s lives into wholesome experiences and equitable human relations with social change and greater depth of understanding. Politicians, competitive business types need this transformation more than most. When my head is thinking about the muck, I can’t do anything, even in the immediate present, very well.

  15. It’s a mild and sunny Monday in the northeast sector of the empire. A belated Happy Mother’s Day to all, including the planet-sized one we’re failing our responsibility toward.

MZ, continued good luck with the move, but I have to warn you: it takes hours… then weeks after the fact. My last move has taught me that even a cheerful anti-consumerist like me gathers unbelievable amounts of stuff. http://tinyurl.com/28bnb5

Yes, Derrick Jensen’s “Endgame” is just smashing, giving rise to the Jeopardy question “This two-volume work can take down skyscrapers.” Does anyone know what he’s up to lately? It would seem that there are at least a few books on responses to the book.

Pop Culture Nonsense: The Boston Red Sox pulled one out of their nether regions yesterday. With a little luck, they could post one of the great major league seasons, a la the ‘82 Cards, ‘85 Tigers, ‘98 Yankees. It’s a really rare treat to see them have all the pieces in one place. Bud Selig continues his denial about steroids in the game...surges seem to create that in some people. http://tinyurl.com/234rcc

  16. hello everyone. best wishes to the family mickey (or are you back home now?)

i have a new article up if anyone is interested.

    http://tinyurl.com/2yq5tt

    if you want a taster…

“I don’t often buy into all the hype at election time. The difference between the main political parties has narrowed so much that in the US in particular and in the UK to a lesser extent, elections are usually about a small group of people from roughly the same background and the same fruity little clubs amusing themselves and each other at our expense.”

i will quantify this by saying there was a wee difference with this in the recent scottish election because independence is on the way!

    p.s. where is JOS?

  17. Here I am, michael.  Excellent article as usual.

Hello frances, Joe, Ehtesham, Keir, David, Helga and Mick.

Zen, the Derrick Jensen Forum is a pretty good place to see what he’s been up to and I find a lot of intereting links and comments over there.

Here’s a pretty funny Derrick video:

As far the Red Sox go...I am afraid they’re heading for a fall.  But what do I know, I’m a Yankee fan.

  19. One more caption for the previous front page…
“My heart aches. How can I pay my student loans on my McPay check?”

HI Mickey...Hope all is OK. You have a big job there with the move etc.
    Keir...thanks for the link.
    Michael...Great article.
JOS...Who are the Red Sox?  Just kidding. I know that they are a basketball team.
Hi Zen...Yep. Endgame is amazing. Sadly, most great pieces of literature such as that, Mick’s books, Bill Blum’s, etc go relatively unnoticed.
joe...count me in on your brave new world. I, too, am ready to bail out of this one.
    frances...thanks for that picture.
David...Your mother must love you very much. She raised a very special human being.
Helga...I second what you said. I keep learning how much I have to unlearn. Age is no guarantee of wisdom.
Ehtesham...I had a comment for you but it took me so long to remember how to spell your name that I forgot it, so I will just say HUGS to you and anyone that I missed.
