  2. G’day, Expendables. Captcha sez ‘spring,’ and here in MA it is.

    Reality shows:
Poor Kid Goes To College: the gauntlet, from getting a decent K-12 public education, to applications (no legacies, please!), to dealing with the student loan mafia and/or military pimps, and post-graduation unemployment. (note to network: this show may require 8+ seasons to fully document.)

Let’s Buy A House!: A multi-generation reality show, with Baby Boomers laughing off how they could afford a home, then a segment of The Equity-Line Game (consumer madness, medical bills, college payments), to what their own kids are facing, in order to secure decent housing.

My Job Went On Vacation: Lucky outsourced workers hop a non-union flight to visit their former vocation in steamy sub-tropical sweatshops or teeming Asian cities. (The Hook: white collar workers, too!)

  3. Hi Michael, Mickey, Zen and those yet to arrive.

Ever since I first heard the term “enemy noncombatant”, I thought they were talking about me.

ABC is reporting that we have covert operations going on in Iraq? Hummm, they are little bit late with that report. The u$a has had the CIA manipulating with covert operations there since 1953 and before.

  4. Correction, I meant Iran.

  5. Hello Everyone, Mickey, your idea for a reality show, 1-4...well if someone from Ford Motor marketing division sees this you might have to fight them over copyrights. I’m sure some corporation has thought of this...and television has terrorized viewers for what, over 50 years. Displaying every kind of possible murder, rape, explosion, bombing, portraying ownly americans are the nice people and everyone else, including those damn, fast Cheetahs are our enemy, and are not very nice. And if television doesn’t upset you, the bill collectors, IRS, insurance co’s, etc., will!

  6. Sad but true. We soon may be going to Wal-Mart to see a doctor.  I have in the past purchased prescription eyeglasses from Wal-Mart because they were 50% cheaper there.  I also have been checking into the possibility of getting a dental clinic in Wal-Mart. I know that the corporation has a very bad record but people are getting desperate around the usa for medical/dental care. Any body have any thoughts about this?

  7. I did not know this. Bet you didn’t either. Maybe it proves how survival of the species is built into the biology of some.

  10. What a great idea, Mickey! And your suggestions are good, too, Zen Prole.

For the first time in 10 or so days, there is actually sunshine in Daylesford.  However, we did need the rain, which is still not enough to break the drought.  Tighter water restrictions might be around the corner.

And hi, Michael, Rosemarie, Joe of Maine and Keir.  Take care, all of you.

  11. Hello RMJ #6...yeah, I heard something about medical facilities at wal-mart. Dental??? Well, I had to plead with my dentist to help me with a problem from bending a steering wheel with my face. I think many brain cells were killed at the same time? I think it could a great idea...you could get you gall-bladder removed...unnecessarily...while you’re getting the oil changed in your car. George could have Brenda’s leg amputated from him, while his wife is buying a new garden tractor...very convenient all these things are...then there can be Wal-Mart legal services next door to medical facility so you can sue the mechanic that cut Brenda’s leg off of George...all the time spent all wal-mart getting medical care would put you at the front of the line for latest sales on fishing lures, and refurbished dvd players...Ohhhh Boy! Can you imagine the look on your neighbors face when you tell him you’re going to wal-mart for a sex change…

  12. Outrageous tv show ...Hum.... Take 12 people of all different status in life. They can be from executive to broom pusher and anyway in between. Now, let them live 12 days in a single room dewlling. All have a responsibility that is the normal occupation of one of the participant. Now for the duration they have to live with themself and each others. Yes that means the tripple ‘s’ included. I just wander who would go insane first.
You can make any variation to the scene as you want. Let your imagination go wild.

  13. Yannick, do you mean that they would exchange places at their jobs, as well as live together? That sounds great. In fact, it could be done all 12 days - just pick out of a hat. From CEO to janitor to child care worker to long-haul truck driver by Thursday, and none of that “It’s ruining my Saville Row suits” nonsense. (Or, housewife to bank president to news anchor… that I would pay to see)

Captcha sez ‘develop.’ Better get on the line to the network.

  14. Preaching to the choir here of course, but how weak is all of this--
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/24/AR2007052400218.html

At the moment what stands out is-- The bill includes about $100 billion for military and diplomatic efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as $8 billion in domestic projects such as farm aid and hurricane relief and $9 billion in military-related spending such as improved health care for service members.

I guess that $8 billion is better than nothing…

  15. Hello Expendables. It’s really warming up in NYC. Feels like summer.
