Name That Subversive
Hi Mickey, was it George Lincoln Rockwell?
Posted by Ehtesham on from Canada 05/24 at 10:27 PMBy the way, Rockwell was a radical alright if you know what I mean.
Posted by Ehtesham on from Canada 05/24 at 10:33 PM‘$53,492 in unmarked bills’? Wow, Mickey! Too bad I do not even have an inkling who was the readical who made that statement. It sounds very convincing, though.
Warm greetings from a sunny Daylesford to Ehtesham and to any expendable who will comment later. I’m off to Melbourne for a couple of days, so I wish all of you a good weekend filled with all the things you like doing most ..
Ciao, amiciPosted by Helga Fremlin on from Daylesford, Australia 05/24 at 11:34 PMThe name of this radical is...either Marilyn Monroe, Heinrich Himler perhaps Jiddu Krishnamurti
Posted by joe of maine on from 05/25 at 06:44 AMHi Helga and Joe. Have a nice weekend in Melbourne, Helga.
Cheers.
Posted by Ehtesham on from Canada 05/25 at 09:24 AMHello Expendables...from a very warm Astoria. Fun guesses so far.
Btw, it’s not Rosemarie Jackowski either.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/25 at 09:25 AMFrom the “preaching to the converted” file: If anyone is even remotely surprised that the Democrat-controlled Congress agreed to no Iraq withdrawal timetables, well, you’re a goddamned fool.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/25 at 09:31 AMMickey, #7...the only thing I expect from democrats or republicans is extensive use of toilet paper...the system is a page of history that needed turned 500 years ago...the thought of systemic change still, after what has been witnessed in just the last 40 years, is an idea that is beyond my comprehension, anyone would have! It’s time, no it has been time, for a long time, to build a new system...the current one is too big, too corrupt...so start small. Two people can live in a small cabin...a 55 room mansion is not necessary. There are practices, methods to get beyond a metaphysical stuck-ness that can help people develop closer, trusting relationships so a new society, void of current systmic problems don’t reproduce
Posted by joe of maine on from 05/25 at 09:41 AMMickey #7 Part II...expecting anything from the wealthy people, who define, who rule...’the system’...is like still believing in tooth fairies, santa klaus, easter bunnies and kucinich in armor riding a white horse. I think I will place my attention and energy on creating a new society, even if that simply means only me, which I know it doesn’t.
Posted by joe of maine on from 05/25 at 10:27 AMSounds like Saul Alinsky, Mickey.
Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 05/25 at 11:44 AMHi Robert B., joe, Ehtesshammm (sp), Helga, and all I missed.
Mickey, you did it again. We are stumped.
joe… You are right about living a more simple life. I have had that thought, too, for a long time. When I built my house, I wanted to go total solar and off the grid. It cost too much to do that. I was limited to doing only the things that were free, such as placing most of the windows on the south side. One of the obstacles is that “the system” makes it difficult to live a really simple life. Take property taxes for example. They make it necessary for most people to work a conventional type job. I do think that those with very large houses, second homes, and recreational gas guzzling planes, boats and cars, are socially irresponsible. That big “summer” home in Kennebunkport shoud be converted into apartments for the homeless.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/25 at 04:13 PMEvening all. By way of having something to say, I’ll say it’s beautiful weather in England at the moment. Nice enough to sleep with the windows open...woken up once this morning by the dawn chorus, and again by a pneumatic drill.
Not a clue as to our mystery quotee. The language seems slightly archaic. Who talks about capitalists and masses and revolutionists any more?Posted by Mew on from clophill 05/25 at 04:31 PMHi RMJ,11, You said, “the system” makes it difficult to live a really simple life. Take property taxes for example. They make it necessary for most people to work a conventional type job. Yeah, it gets tricky, spend little, live simply, if people can develop close relations, pool resources, this is not just money, be supportive, intellectually, emotionally as well, speak truly honestly, things can start to take shape and other things quickly become history. None of the ‘what if’s’ the uncertainties are simple...group work is absolutely necessary...I think. I won’t repeat what I have said about the ‘vacaction’ house...(-:
Posted by joe of maine on from 05/25 at 04:45 PMHi RMJ (and everyone).
It’s not Alinsky, Robert...but Mew is on to something.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/25 at 04:47 PMIts a gut feeling, not strong enough to risk a ridiculous guess...is “revolutionista” warmer than revolutionist?
Posted by Mew on from clophill 05/25 at 04:58 PMNope.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/25 at 04:59 PMMy guts are stupid.
Posted by Mew on from clophill 05/25 at 05:00 PMHi Mew… Sleeping with the windows open is one of my favorite things.
Mickey...you have us all very frustrated. Come on, tell us the answer, pleeeeeze.
joe...You make an important point. It’s not just about money. It is about being supportive in so many other ways. That is one reason that I like it here so much. Mickey and the others here were very kind and supportive when it looked like I might go to prison. The support made a big difference and I will always be very grateful.
Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 05/25 at 05:24 PMMaybe I should offer a frickin’ clue?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/25 at 05:41 PMGandhi is my guess
Posted by Rich Griffin on from Boston, MA 05/25 at 06:21 PMA Nuremburg defendent?
Posted by Mew on from clophill 05/25 at 06:34 PMWhat the frick are you folks thinking?
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 05/25 at 07:03 PMThe only fricking frick I know is Wilhelm Frick, who got his just desserts at Nuremburg. My misspent years playing WWII strategy games weren’t entirely uneducational.
Maybe we should try 20 Questions?
Posted by Mew on from clophill 05/25 at 07:07 PMMaybe it’s not frickin’ Frick but something frickin’ related…

Posted by Dr. B on from U$A 05/26 at 12:52 AMOkay, Expendables...Mike guessed the correct frickin’ answer.
