Summer re-runs have started
Good Morning Everyone...I just read another one of these irrelevant references to the U.S. constitution. Politicians break rules, Keith Moon apparently broke rules. Both have the money to pay for their fines. Politicians don’t pay fines since the taxpayers pay their salaries and who is following a constitution...certain none of the lampreys in washington.
I thought Tommy as a rock opera was okay in its day and in my opinion, that’s when the Who ran out of steam. I think there was a lot of great music around in the 70’s and like any period of time...it wasn’t played on commercial radio stations.
I knew a number of wonderful musicians who were not interested in recording contracts, the big time, MTV...only interested in their art. Small clubs worked for many of them since they wanted to interact with audience, not simply do a ‘performance’.
My neighbor is/was a circus juggler and blues harmonica player who’s father committed suicide. I don’t think his father’s suicide was due to Bob’s juggling and music...but it might have been part of the accumulation of reasons the father decided to remove himself???
Bob’s basically a good person...it seems he grew up, perhaps with the only attention from his family being a child star while daddy made home movies...the ususal kind of home movies for rememberance sake, I believe it’s called?
Thomas Berry speaks so eloquently about man NOT living congruently with Earth’s laws and creating unnatural imbalances, i.e., Maines Rivers used as septic systems for manufacturing processes and waste years ago and are still polluted, then after realizing the various pollutions and poisoning of ourselves and the planet, we continue to do the things that are harmful!
Our lack of real knowing of life processes, living sensibly, peacefully might be why Keith Moon and politicians exhibit bizarre behavior

Immature, Lonely, Alienated: Tommy Lee by Koto Ezawa
Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 07/05 at 02:12 PMMake that KOTA Ezawa--
He had a great exhibit in San Francisco recently at the SFMOMA. A video cartoon showed outtakes from an notorious video that circulated on the internet. None of the racy parts, I gather, but the snippets of ennui in-between. Really a pathetically sad, and curious analysis that focused attention back on us, the voyeuristic public.
There is an uneasy symbiosis that seems to exist between celebrity, mayhem (perhaps) and us regular folk: An evil brinksmanship. How far can we go-- and still come back?
Ultimately, meanwhile-- we all have frittered our lives-- for what? We forget what real love and caring is-- what heroism and sacrifice are.
With all the world before us, we ultimately have nothing but the flickering images that cast their hypnotizing spell. We laugh, uncomfortably-- and then move on, or sorrow. that’s it.
Just some off the cuff remarks.
Posted by Robert B. Livingston on from San Francisco, California 07/05 at 02:22 PMRobert...3...Thank you, you said: “There is an uneasy symbiosis that seems to exist between celebrity, mayhem (perhaps) and us regular folk: An evil brinksmanship. How far can we go-- and still come back?”
What, Why do you think that is? What does it mean?
Posted by joe of maine on from 07/05 at 02:31 PM“But I’m the best Keith Moon-type drummer there is.”
- Moon, in response to claims he wasn’t rehearsing in his off time. How about those gutsy Thomas Jefferson quotes yesterday, on the need for revolution and metaphorical trees fertilized with blood? They got me to thinking about Gore Vidal, who’s been the strongest Jeffersonian voice for decades. His “Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace” and “Dreaming War” remain solid. What makes him even more precious is that he can point a finger at the secretive and powerful (or obvious) without being called a conspiracy theorist. We should all be so lucky.
Thanks for the artwork, Mr. Livingston. I’ve often felt for Tommy Lee but Ezawa’s art captures that moment, out on an artificial lake in the desert, ready to catapult into the bad boy stratosphere with his siliconed wife. Did he have any Courtney Love prints?
In Eastern Massachusetts, many fireworks displays were rained out and rescheduled. We need a human rainout of empire. (Captcha sez “merely.")
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 07/05 at 04:23 PMHi Zen, joe, Robert, Mickey, and all…
I’m sorry, but I don’t know about Keith Moon. I’ll have to check into that to see what I have been missing.About politicians...today our congressman was in town for a little town meeting. I went, only because it was nearby and at a convenient time for me. It turned out to be exactly like any of you would expect. It was painful to watch. I was more disappointed with the level of questions that came from the voters than anything else. Out of the many questions that were asked, only 3 were of any substance. 2 of the voters actually engaged in a bit of debate. That was refreshing. I had only one question, I asked how Congress can expect to be off the hook about the war, since Congress has continued finance it. For that question, and many other questions, the answer was, “Don’t blame me, blame the other guys.”

Posted by RMJ on from Churchill 4 Prez Hdqts 07/05 at 05:20 PMHello RMJ..6...they said..“Don’t blame me, blame the other guys.”
I wonder how long it would take for the questions to go around and come right back to THEM?
Posted by joe of maine on from 07/05 at 08:05 PMHello Expendables...from rainy Astoria. For no particular reason, I’ve stopped by to share these facts about Chuck Norris:

Posted by joe of maine on from 07/06 at 06:28 AMOk...So what if Norm Coleman switched parties in the middle of the stream. Norman, as his Brooklyn born n’ bred’ father calls him, jumped ship in 96’. Normy jr. saw the void in Republican Senatorial prospects six years forward. Mark Dayton, of the Dayton-Hudson-Target Corp family, would take a shot at one of two open positions in the future, leaving hapless Senator Rod Grams = the Republican = vulnerable for re-election in 02’. Norm was a two-term Mayor of St Paul, winding down his second term while con-currently running for MN Senator against our hero Paul Wellstone. As you may recall, Senator Wellstone, his wife and daughter perished in a small plane crash on the MN Iron Range a little over 2 weeks before the election which Paul would have won. The fickled-finger of fate shook the dice and Coleman prevailed, even though Wally Mondale, the stand-in for Wellstone was closing in what almost was a photo finish. And now --Coleman is tooling up again to take on Comedian Al Franklin in 08’. MN politics produced Independent-Party Governor Turn-buckle - Jesse the Body Ventura. Harold Stassen, another happle-ding MN Republican ran for US President an unbelievable NINE - count-em’ - 9X ! Stormin’ Norman came out of James Madison High in Brooklyn, attended Hofstra, while spending his smoke-induced college summers as a R O A D I E for Alvin Lee and Procol Harum. Go figure. These strange bed-fellows make me giggle almost as much as Stan and Ollie -!-!- So let’s have a lil’ humor as Mickey suggested - AND away we go!!
