"Our surpluses"
In other words, give us what we want, when we want it or we’ll bomb the living shit out of you.
Welcome home, Mick.
Posted by JOS on from Chicago 08/01 at 11:09 AMi grew up in a culture of addiction and suicide. Its so deeply embedded in my consciousness that it has become personal.
In order to break free, in order to live beyond the emotional subsistance level of being, I have chosen to to alter my focus.
What is working well? What is functional? What is healthy? What can I do TODAY that enhances MY life and the life of those around me?
It means leaving behind the cynicism, sarcasm, anger, despair, resentment. Moving beyond the trivial and superficial appearances of relationships actions and interactions. It means
letting go of the need to find the ‘big solution’, and accepting the singular task at hand in this moment.
Normal is not an option.
Breathe deeply and live a ‘happy’ life
or
smoke and die.
everything, for me, is revolving around this simple choice. There is no room for rationalizations, intellectual exercises, or justifications. Only a simple choosing.
Its very humbling.
If I cannot make this choice for myself how can I expect anyone else to choose life over death, freedom over oppression. If i cannot save myself, climb out of the burning house, jump into the rescue boat that is offered to me, how can i expect anyone else to? Let alone an entire civilization?btw: I linked to the despair.com demotivational calandars back in october 06, for the rumsfeld post. They are a good counterbalance to all the pressure to ‘perform’ and ‘get along’ and ‘succeed’ in a culture of death and destruction.

This guy bought a burger and forgot it in his jacket for one year - and a year later - nothing
happened to the burger.
For anyone who still thinks mcdonalds is even remotely a food option.
http://tinyurl.com/392tsvPosted by frances on from bc 08/01 at 12:55 PMFrances...came back to my office on Monday and one of my co-workers had posted three “motivational” posters in our reception area. After I finished tossing my cookies, I went to despair.com and ordered their 16 month calendar. I’m going to cut it up and frame as many of the images as I can afford (and have the patience to do-I hate framing stuff) and do my whole friggin’ office in Demotivators Material!!!!
Posted by The CultureGhost on from Concord CA 08/01 at 01:15 PMHello Expendables...from hot, humid Astoria.
Frances: I’m sorry I didn’t remember that you’d already posted that link. Oh well, it certainly is worth a summer re-run.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/01 at 01:21 PMJust watched “The Bionic Burger” video...was laughing out loud...coworkers are nervous as I don’t often laugh out loud while here…

But wait! This is from 60 days ago:
http://tinyurl.com/yw72azThis story has been on the shelf (rim shot) for two months. Someone needs to apologize to Oliver North about that whole Contragate thing.
Captcha sez “doing.” Bernie Mac sez “goins on.” I say “business as usual.”
Posted by Zen Prole on from Urth 08/01 at 03:54 PMJOS #1...I’ll second that.
HI frances, Mickey, CultureGhost, and all…Zen...It seems to me that the whole point of almost everything that the USA does is to find as many ways as possible to “justify” having to order more weapon systems and that includes airplane parts. This is a brilliant system of money laundering. The bigger story might be the 20 BILLION dollar arms deal to the Saudis, at the same time as a 30 BILLION dollar deal for Isreal. If we arm both sides it really keeps the cash flowing. This is the USAs latest plan to destabilize the region. They are laughing all the way to Wall Street and STILL people are smearing Churchill and not connecting the dots to the bond dealers.

captcha says “union” as in: come on people lets get it together?Posted by frances on from bc 08/01 at 07:05 PMHello Zen, RMJ, and Ghost...and Frances, that list is an excellent microcosm of why, if nothing is changed, we’re all doomed.
