I actually lurked a few times and tried to post a comment but the strange computer that I was on deleted it. Someone here made a comment about the toxicity of plastic - that is a real issue. It has been implicated in causing early puberty because it acts like estrogen in the body. It is an issue for me since I have to buy all of my drinking water in plastic jugs - would be nice if it would restore me to puberty.

I actually heard some discussion on the TV about the fact that maybe Columbus was not the hero that we were all taught in school.
As you all might have noticed, I get some of my information from C-span and C-span2. Comcast just announced that it is changing the way that they “bundle” the TV channels. That will result in an increase in the monthly charge to anyone who wants to keep C-span2. C-span2 carries book TV and does in depth interviews with non-fiction authors. I know that in the list of world problems this is a very tiny one, but just one more example of why I hate Capitalism. The politicians and the FCC have granted the cable companies the right to scam the public. Richie, are you asking about the week-end arrest of the tax protesters? That has been an interesting case. One newscaster was smart enough to comment on the fact that Martha Stewart did time for lying to the government but the government lies all the time to the people. The tax protesters were arrested because they allowed some people into their house. The people said that they were supporters but they lied. They were really agents of the gov there to make the arrest.

thankfully he doesnt own the club - he is the sort of ‘symbolic’ chairman. though how a bastard like him can be the symbolic chairman of a team that was
1.founded as a charity for poor irish immigrants in glasgow but is a scottish/irish thing (hence ‘celtic’),
2. was the first british team to have a black player, who bizarrely enough, was gil scott-herons dad,
3. is renowned as a team for its left leaning and independence (scottish and irish) politicsis beyond me
it really sticks in the throat. hopefully he will go to some other job soon.
it is a phenomenon in europe at the moment though. all kinds of dodgy characters are trying to buy up teams or get involved.

I once asked someone if they knew of any businesses in the area with integrity...she fell over laughing at me. Now, I meant this in shallow relative terms, but yeah, capitalism attracts people of limited character development. In fact, by their thinking, their reasoning, they’re still stupid. I apologize for using the word stupid, but certain behavior can be briefly, but accurately described by the use of the word.

joe...looking for integrity under Capitalism is an impossible task. Today I continued my campaign to keep C-span2 in the Comcast “bundle”. The VT Public Service Board said that they have no authority to help. One Senator never called back. the other flatly refused to help. The State blames the Feds. The Feds blame the bureaucracy. While I was on the phone making my case, I had C-span2 on. As usual it was great programming that is not available anywhere else. The Congressional Blackwater hearing was on. Eric Prince, Blackwater Big Wheel, gave testimony that was amazing. At one point he actually stated that he is NOT motivated by money.
